To cook Ukrainian red borscht:
Pork ribs - 600 g
Water - 2 l
Potato - 2 pcs.
Onion - 1 pc.
Cabbage - 150-200 g
Beets - 1 small
Carrot - 1 small
Tomato paste - 2-3 tbsp. with a big hill
Bay leaf - 1-2 pcs.
Black pepper - a few peas
Garlic - 2 cloves
Sugar, vinegar (citric acid) - to taste
1. Pour the pork ribs with water, let it boil, remove the foam.
2. Finely chop the onion, chop the beets into strips. Add the onion and beets to the broth and cook for another 40-60 minutes.
3. Cut the carrots into strips. Saute carrots in vegetable oil. Add tomato paste, fry for 1-2 more minutes. Add some broth and simmer for 5 minutes.
4. Add diced potatoes, bay leaf and black pepper to the broth. Cook until potatoes are ready.
5. Add frying and chopped cabbage. Cook for another 5-10 minutes until cabbage is soft.
6. Add chopped garlic, let it boil. Turn off, let it brew for 15-20 minutes.
