You’re thinking of California giant salamanders, which are not remotely related to the Asian giant salamanders.

Asian giant salamanders are an ancient lineage, the Cryptobranchidaw that split off from other salamanders a long long time ago (except for Sirenidae which also split off even longer before). They are not closely related to Dicamptontidae, a more recently derived group which is the California giant salamander family. Read up on your phylogeny before making these claims

China has been gradually releasing them back into the wild and their numbers have increased. The Chinese government has lowered their Endangerment Level from Red to Yellow in 2014 and the Protection Act remains in effect. Licensed farms are allowed to keep a handful of breeding stocks besides Wild Animal Protection & Research Instituition. Today, a single farm yields approximately 2.5 million population annually. In 2021 a man who prepped one for his cooking show on social media was immediately reported to the police by a viewer. Investigation quickly revealed that it was in fact purchased through a licensed farm. This shows that the general population today is quite well informed as to what they should and should not eat.

@@codysmith605 Yea there's actually a lot of stories about China's battles against illegal poaching between 1970s ~ 1990s and many police/volunteered patrols had been killed in the process. One of the most iconic of such stories that was adapted into a film titled Kekexili: Mountain Patrol, about some volunteered anti-poaching Rangers who patrolled the Tibetan Plateau to protect Tibetan Antelopes--Level2 Protected WIld Animal, against a band of poachers. The Rangers are licensed to carry rifles and have the authority to shoot to kill. Very fascinating film.

Problem: The color doesn't mean much and genetics is the only way to tell them apart. The ones they are releasing seem to be hybrids of the other species. They don't breed as well (or at all) and aren't as healthy. These salamanders are also being released in areas where there are still native populations of other species, and they seem to be hybridizing with the wild ones too, which puts the wild species at risk of extinction too. Because the 5-6 species model of Chinese Giant Salamanders is so new and the farming is old, this happened. Also, for some reason they do not breed well in captivity after the second generation- probably due to being hybrids- so they have to collect eggs from the wild. There are a lot of issues that need to be worked out with this farming, but unfortunately it doesn't seem like it's happening.

@@meghanpierce5375 That was true over a decade ago, wasn't until 2000 that the scientists realized there are at least 5 different breeds. Farming began in the 80s, back then everyone thought there are only 3 types of Giant Salamanders: Chinese, Japanese, North American. In the beginning, a lot of people after learning about the law started releasing the ones they had in captivity anywhere there's water; this is a problem seen all around the world where civilians' seemingly good deed end up harming the bio ecosystems. Recently they found some 17 purebreds and a new plan is being drawn up. With vastly improved farming techniques, bio technologies, and a better informed public, I'm sure they'll fix it in time.

Тигры - те же кошки, только большие :), проблем не должно быть. Про носорогов не знаю - есть ли у них проблемы с размножением в зоопарках. Хотя лучший вариант просто оставить животных в покое и тогда сами разведутся. :)
