Surly, Ali was NOT the most “mobile heavyweight” of all time! The man was a total mess, a Slobbering, Drooling, uncontrollable shaking physical mess!! Clearly, during Ali’s boxing career, his mobile skills were not good enough to allow him to escape the brutal punishment he absorbed in his FIVE LOSSES as well as other fights to prevent him from his horrible existence at the end of his life! Rocky Marciano on the other hand was a Master of Defense and of body and foot movement which allowed him to escape overwhelming punishment from his opponents! Stop the nonsense puh-leeze! Ali was indeed a great, great fighter, and I stand amazed at his ability to take punishment as well as his speed and ring savvy. However, Joe Frazier beat the snot out of him in both their first and third fights (have to review their 2nd), Ken Norton broke his jaw and without a shadow of a doubt got the better of Ali in their 3 bouts, ridiculous decision in Ali's favor at Yankee Stadium notwithstanding. His 1974 defeat of George Foreman is a bit suspect because George was at a low state in his career mentally, he was not at his best. Who's the GOAT of the heavyweights? There ain't one! They are all great fighters, they all beat each other and they all lost to each other pretty much: Ali, Joe Frazier, Ken Norton, George Foreman, Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield, Lennox Lewis, etc, etc. They are roughly equal, all great fighters, Ali just out talked everyone else. It's the same with NFL running backs: Jim Brown, OJ Simpson, Walter Payton, Barry Sanders, etc. Who was the greatest? The case could be made for all 4 - they were all amazing. Similarly in batting: Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Stan Musial, Ted Williams, Alex Rodriguez, David Ortiz, Manny Ramirez, Albert Pujols, etc, etc. - a lot of great hitters, perhaps no clear GOAT other than Williams. The only exception would be Michael Jordan, though, as he was definitely a cut or two above the other greats (yes, including LBJ). There's no way Ali could be the GOAT when he was so badly beaten by 2 of his contemporaries and there are other luminaries like Iron Mike he has to favorably compare to.
@JackHenoffРік тому
@@jamespenny9482 he fought Frazier without boxing for 3 years his first fight and still was winning the first couple rounds. After he came back he was never the same dancing Ali. He lost his endurance and had to resort to relying on his chin power. Ali also beat the crap out of Frazier in their 3rd fight and Joe admitted Ali getting the best of their 3 fights (but he takes 100% credit winning the most important fight being their first). Ken Norton is the only boxer that can claim to have gotten the best of Ali. Even then, Ali was past his prime fighting Norton and managed a solid win (their 2nd). Ali went on to beat Foreman and Shavers, two heavyweights that destroyed Ken Norton in less than 4 rounds. Ali was the best of his time easily and his most important fights (Foreman, Frazier, Norton) we’re all after his 3 year hiatus from boxing. We can never truly compare cross generation fighters, but Ali was undoubtedly the best of his time

Lol highly overrated
@pmprei3767Рік тому
@@jamesdean7756 Lol I’m talking about a fighter who was robbed of 4 YEARS his prime for refusing to fight in a war against a country for a country that WOULD NOT fight for him. THAT TOOK BALLS ( He was fearless!! ) He’s a former three time world champion. He was that inside and outside of the ring. Highly overrated? I don’t think so.
@jamesdean7756Рік тому
@@pmprei3767 yes he was all those things but also an overrated boxer and a racist
@pmprei3767Рік тому
@@jamesdean7756 And why was he racist? Because he didn't through any fights? Was it because he wouldn't fight for a country that wouldn't fight for him with being called a nigger? Is it because his ancestors were slaves while being called niggers with being segregated, lynched or murdered, raped, buck broken, disallowed to learn how to read or write, denied education, jobs, credit, ECT?? What fighter are you talkin about man? Like it or not TROLL he's the GOAT and there are many fighter in his era and after that will vouch for him. George Foreman," Smokin" Joe Frazier, Larry Holmes ( The Eastern Assassin ), Roy Jones Jr, Sugar Ray Leonard, James "Lights Out" Tony are are just few that acknowledge his greatness in and out the ring. Even "Iron" Mike Tyson, the MOST BRUTAL of all these fighters ( including Ali ), was literally in tears talking about Ali. So OVERATED he could never be. And if he were racist ( which he is not ), after WTF he, his ancestors, and people of his complexion went through, I wouldn't blame him.

Mohammed Ali's punching power is underrated,Ali weather it looks like it or not,he was packing,he had punching power,those jabs,don't look like much,but took a toll on Sonny Liston,honestly as amateur boxer, I'm a believer,Sonny Liston,had never ever gotten hit hard by somebody that pretty much had his own punching power, Foreman is another example,they underestimated Mohammed Ali's punching power,you add awesome boxing skills to that,and your gonna be eating leather all night long, Ali, not only a boxer but Boxer/Puncher

@leegarykushner1814Рік тому
Absolutely, and he was voted as one of the top 12 hardest punchers of all time, and I believe he deliberately pulled his punches, not only to go quicker, but to avoid seriously and permanently injuring opponents, which he went out of his way, not to do.

Classic one for sure, Liston ran out of gas chasing Ali around.🤠
@peterramstedt62602 роки тому
Nope, fight was rigged.
@theshepardthewolfandtheshe53042 роки тому
Liston supposedly threw his shoulder out from missing the target the whole match. Not sure which one. Most likely his left. Liston did catch Ali with a mean left hook though, which sent Ali about three steps to his left. One of the greatest boxing matches ever. Also Ali wining the title from George foreman. “I shook up the world”. Twice!! Greatest of all times!

Even confessed by the mob it was rigged by them. Liston would have killed him in a fair fight

After the layoff Ali's foot speed pretty much gone. Hand speed still there but now he relies also on his ability to take punishment. Against Foreman, Frazier, Shavers, Norton he got hit plenty and it ruined his health. That beating by Holmes was awful and he just wouldn't quit. No quit in Ali.
@richardlstern98402 роки тому
@Aaron Digby By the Holmes fight Ali was worse than "past his prime". He was badly injured and shouldn't have gotten a boxing license. I saw the fight on closed circuit TV. Ali was laying on the ropes taking a beating. The referee said " If you don't fight Ali, I'm gonna stop it". He didn't stop it. He should have. Afterwards, Holmes said "I did what I had to do but I didn't enjoy it". He didn't want to hurt Ali.
