Is Ant-Man the most over-powered character in the MCU? One: Speak up and join the conversation- we encourage respectful debate. Two: Respect your community- racism, misogyny, homophobia and hate speech aren’t tolerated. Three: “Be nice.” - Dalton from Roadhouse

So let me get this straight: Pym can create matter, Stark can create energy, Strange can create teleportation, Shuri can create nearly impenetrable personal shielding... and all they do with that tech is create new ways to punch each other?

Pym can't technically create matter, he can just cause it to occupy more space by spreading the particles further apart. It just sometimes makes objects appear to have gained extra matter for Rule of Cool reasons.

@@atadansuk8899 As I said, sometimes Pym technology acts as if it does create or reduce matter, as long as it's cool. Being able to shrink an entire lab down and wheel it off like a suitcase, or always carry a battle tank that looks like a trinket shouldn't work if the canon explanation is correct, but it's badass, so it makes it in.

lazy writing and no real emotional attachment to the characters. all in all was a good bit of fun but had nothing new or memorable no emotion and a whole lot of random trying to explain stuff with big sciencey words which really ruined the suspension of disbelief by essentially spouting nonsense. especially if you actually know what the word quantum means.

That's because they're way too small-time to need Earth's defenders for any of their villains. Like Spider-Man they work on the state-level of hero work. They don't need more than one Avenger to clean up their mess. Hawkeye could probably do it solo. Speaking of MCU and Spider-Man, the Avengers would have had a better match against a Chitauri-tech powered Vulture than Ghost or Yellowjacket. I mean, he's gotta be at least 1/3 as powerful as Ultron with that tech, right?

Your last statement is dead-on and a true reflection of the modern movie-going audience. I truly believe that Marvel's success with making consistently good films has had the unfortunate side effect of spoiling people. The fact that this movie, as good as it was, got little more than "meh" reviews from the vast majority of reviewers and the public audience shows that. 10 years ago this would have been awe inspiring to fans. But today, all people can bring themselves to say is "Is that all?". And because of its lukewarm reception, it's highly unlikely at this point in time that we'll get another Ant-Man & the Wasp stand alone film. That's a shame. People can't bring themselves to enjoy a good film anymore because things get "old" to people so quickly. These are the same people who loved John Wick for its fight choreography, but then ONE MOVIE LATER with the sequel they were already saying "I've seen this before. Do you have anything new?". Seriously? You're bored with a new concept after a single film? I don't know what else this movie had to do to get people on board with it. Like you also said in and earlier statement, it's a movie/character that everybody seemed to like, but nobody really cared about...for some reason. But everybody wants to see a Black Widow stand alone for some reason. If shrinking, expanding, flying heroes fighting a woman who can phase through objects a la the Twins from the Matrix couldn't excite audiences, I don't know what the hell they expect from a movie that's basically going to be the equivalent of Jason Bourne except a woman maybe featuring Hawkeye...

I like the two movies well enough, but neither wowed me. They just never were actually intense at any point and while they were flashy and fun, they weren't particularly dramatic. On a personal note, I really disliked the whole quantum non-sense they went with; it's like vibranium but somehow even more obnoxiously mac-guffin-y ( I mean, "quantum healing particles"? Really..?) They are very much surface-level entertainment movies, they don't make me think or daydream or anything and they don't elicit any strong feelings either. I like them (they're better than most of the Marvel movies, imo) and I wouldn't mind watching them again, but I don't find them particularly compelling. Black Widow has the potential to be fairly somber and emotionally engaging - I don't have particularly high hopes for it, but it could turn out to be something really new and interesting in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
@Zambrano2199
@Zambrano2199 5 років тому

I thought Ant Man and the Wasp was perfectly fine. It was fun and didn't take itself too seriously, and I thought Ghost was right up there with Vulture and Killmonger as some of the best villains in the MCU (that aren't, you know, world ending disaster threats like Thanos or Loki). I think the real problem is just the timing of when it came out. People are starving for continuation and closure from Infinity War, and having his fun little side quest just feels jarring while we wait for that. I think I'll enjoy this a whole lot more once I've gotten past A4 and can see this movie objectively for what it is, it's own thing.

I really enjoyed the first Ant-Man movie -- it was fun and light-hearted and definitely what I think we all needed. But it wasn't anything spectacular. My friends and I all expected Ant-Man and The Wasp to be similar -- fun, a bit more serious than the first, and a pretty good movie, but not mind-blowing or anything. Well, it definitely exceeded our expectations. Ant-Man and The Wasp had no reason to be as good as it was, and it really was really great. It successfully built on what the previous Ant-Man (and Civil War) movie founded, and made a new, compelling storyline and character dynamics that had you engaged from start to finish. The characterizations of everyone felt consistent -- how everyone felt for each other didn't feel contrived and was honestly really realistic considering the circumstances, and the main cast all felt like they had grown by the end of the movie. It was so much fun to watch and I'm so glad that they didn't feel like making a movie that was simply just "passable" or something to merely fill time until Cpt. Marvel and SpiderMan come out. You can tell they put a lot of effort to make this something that was really good on its own stead but didn't feel jarring and out of place after Infinity War. I think this was pretty great, honestly. Loved it.
