So I just started watching these a few days ago, I decided to look up 1284x and my city. Not only did it tell me that the city police department use it, there was a brochure that lists every key used in the cars to do things like lock cabinets and gun locks. It also lists that they are keyed alike. A total of 7.... WTF!

So, I used to deliver stuff to construction sites. Frequently I would arrive on the job site with a semi load of stuff late at night and sleep onsite to be ready at 6am for unload. The contractors were "supposed to" make sure that I had entry access to the site for my rig. One time I arrived at about 10pm with the crane and crew that was to unload me the next morning only to find 3' deep 15 ft long ditch along with a 4' tall 20' long pile of dirt blocking the only entry that I could fit through. The GC was fully aware that I was enroute and that he was supposed to provide entry access to the site. The contractor's truck was an old military blazer, that was parked in front of his Cat front end loader . Both use "master keys". 30 minutes later my semi was parked on site and I was sharing a beer with my next morning's unload crew. There was also a Kubota that we could have used, and a few thousand dollars worth of tools that could have (but didn't) quite easily had bad things happen to them. The construction crew's stares at finding me parked on site with everything parked exactly where it had been left was priceless. Construction sites at night are a security nightmare. BTW, this happened in a fairly major east cost city, on a major 6 lane road, within 100 ft of a residential area and we watched police drive right by us several times, not once slowing down.

About a decade ago while I was in auto tech school, I locked my keys in my truck, an '01 Chevy. I was in school only because I needed proof of some sort of 'formal education' in automotive service and repair before anyone would hire me, even with all of the knowledge and experience I already possessed. I blew through the course with ease. So I tell the instructor I've locked my keys in and ask him what to do and if he has a slim Jim or anything. He hands me a keyring with 100+ ignition & door keys from only late model(at the time) GM vehicles. I try a few and Presto! I find one that unlocks my door. Funniest part? That same key opened every GM truck in the parking lot that used the same keyway. I was flabbergasted! 🤣 You can bet that, key was promptly removed from the keyring and kept in a secure location 🤣

So we tried it on his door - and it opened it. So we knocked on another neighbors door and asked if we could try my key, and it opened the door. I had a master key to that apartment complex. We told the manager, who called the manager of my apartment complex, and I got a rekeyed door. I'm sure they didn't change the master for the other complex. That would cost too much.

Pretty sure that most bicycle locks in the UK that don't use a circular tubular are keyed to the A126... it looks like the key to most of the bike locks I've ever owned, which is scary! Most locks that aren't A126 keys are the CH571 tubular key, and so now it's made it piss easy to steal bikes ... Most bike locks have cut-resistant chains/bars so thieves cut the lock with a disc-cutter, but they could go to a hardware store and for £10/£15 get the keys to open most of the bike locks out there!!!!

That picture of the Knox box, without the door, is common. During construction the fire department keeps the door and key, and upon final inspection everyone gets together. The owner places the keys inside, the alarm installer hooked up the tamper (otherwise it would be in trouble for several weeks) and the fire marshal locks it up.

Having worked in Casinos as a Locksmith for over fifteen years, most casinos do not keep the same locks as what ships on the machines. Yes, there was probably a couple of companies stupid enough to keep the original cylinders which are always a specific key to every machine they build, but in the casinos I have worked in, both as Employee and as outside contractor, the locks on the machines were Medico. Also, in the state of Nevada, an internal locksmith (Employee of the Casino) is not allowed to re-key the machines. That MUST be done by an outside contractor. I worked in a few medium and The LARGEST casino, also my software is used in a lot of the casinos in Las Vegas. I personally know a LOT of the locksmiths there. Only a little casino cutting corners would have this issue, and they are breaking the law by not replacing the locks from the factory. I last worked in a Casino in 2004, so my information predates this video.

On padlocks; I learned in highschool that if you put some pressure on the lock while rotating the dial, you can usually feel when it hits the correct number. I had a very hard to remember combination and didn't use my locker very often as I only had two classes that semester, so would usually end up having to do this to get it open. Used this discovery to mess with my friends, would rearrange their stuff and hide notebooks on them

This key is my key, this key is your key, and this key is not like the others

Wow. I had an old police interceptor for years, and I remember wht the key looked like because it kept breaking in the middle. It looked exactly like the key shown in the instacode segment. It was definitely a 1284x

The majority of UK construction plant and machinery is one of four keys. That's why almost everything has a second isolator or transponder now. We also have more CCTV per person than any other country in the world.

Now imagine a key with a controller, actuators and display at the back where you set the code and it adjusts the bitting by moving some wires into place...

Multacc realtor lock did that you had a special key then put in a 6 number code that corresponded to the specific key then it was even audited with a plastic film inside the lock

Many years ago my stepfather was a Harley mechanic and my juvenile delinquent cousin had a 80 something sportster with a key that started half of the $100000 custom bikes in his shop.

Geeze. might as well make a STL or VRML of them for 3d printing.

Growing up we had a Cherokee and a Wrangler one MY apart. Different keys but one Jeep's key would open the doors of the other but not start it. Interestingly the other was the other way around, you couldn't open the door but you could start it.

My old tj was so worn any flat object would start it. If I left my keys in my pocket I used my sunglasses end.

Haha, you guys already had me checking out every elevator I stepped into. Now I'll be compelled to check out every lock to see if these idiotic practices are also in place in Europe. xD

I remember when GTA San Andreas came out, I stayed in my apartment playing for 3 whole days until I saw the credits roll. That was great! (sigh) Then I decided I needed to go to the store and the whole way there it was everything I could do to drive straight and not run over everyone I saw. That's how watching this made me feel, I almost wanna go out and wreak some havoc now...

That CH751 looks like what holds the toilet paper holder shut at work (but they use it as a knob leave it in whatever one was refilled last because we're adults and none of us want to steal the 1/2-ply TP they use)

Lol feok1. I have 50 in my basement. I never realized until i came across these videos of yours how vulnerable these points are. All of my keys work on nearly every elevator I work on. I have my sets all lined up for any given job. Never thought about how easy it would be for someone to use it to their own ends. I am chewing my way through your videos my friend. If you ever come up to Calgary you have a scotch waiting for you.
