Residential Schools forced First Nations to assimilate into a white European culture (in the case of Canada, mostly English or French). They couldn't speak any language other than English, they couldn't wear their clothes or wear their hair the way they would amongst their own people. Much of First Nation culture has been completely lost or destroyed.

My grand grandmother was indigenous in Quebec Canada and my grandfather said that she would never talk about it so I am curious to here stories from people that isn't from a TV documentary or TV show or school

He take the more seriously videos as seriously as possible. He doesn’t ask overly personal questions unless given the go a head to do so. He very respectful to the people he has on the show. That honestly just Anthony in a nuts Shell he alway been very sweet caring guy. I have been watching since the early days of Smosh (we’re talking originally Pokémon lip sync video)

I also appreciate how he approaches things with empathy, and not pity, and a desire for understanding

@@kimareska4836 I can't speak for the OP but as someone who had similar experiences with much older men as a young teen, the thing you have to realise is that those people know what they're doing. They usually have years of practice manipulating young people into feeling like it's a compliment to be approached by someone older and more mature, and they usually start friendly and gradually increase the pressure until you're in so deep that you don't understand how you got there and who to call out to for help. These people seek out young victims because they're easier to take advantage of, and not experienced or developed enough to recognise those "obvious" red flags.

You've got to remember that when you combine isolation and all of these other tools that work even on a cult level (BITE model, feel free to look it up,) with a teenager who still has a brain under construction, and hormone systems having the balance of a person smashing their face into a keyboard repeatedly, it doesn't end well. I like to point this out, since people tend to forget, but literally the last development stage of the human brain is risk assessment. That finishes construction at 21. Why we got screwed with that, I don't know (probably because back 100,000 years ago humans barely lived to 30, so risk assessment was our best version of older wiser philosophy) but while baby humans practically pop out with information sponges in their heads, for some reason the cherry on top for brain development is the one thing we need to make the proper decision to not shake a soda can and let it hit our 🥜 for the sake of viral videos. 😅 So... yeah. A crafty adult will, at least for a while, win the psychological game over a teenager for a good bit, even if it's in something gross like this.

That's one of the horrifying things about trafficking, it can happen to anyone and it's so easy for it to happen I've heard so many really elaborate human trafficking stories, like when someone works on gaining the trust of someone for ages, it's absolutely terrifying stay safe out there everyone and be careful who you trust

Human trafficking sounds like a physical action, and I think that’s what many people thought for a while, but really it can be way more inconspicuous, and I think that’s why so many human trafficking victims at first don’t realize they were trafficked, even after getting out. I’m glad there’s more education on human trafficking nowadays, though.

I was under the impression that it could often happen to any random person walling im the street or even in stores. Though it happens Im seeing that it's more likely to be someone you get to know in a friendly way often

That is one of the big dangers, like people often trust women more easily, but anyone can be a trafficker I was aware that anyone can be a victim to trafficking, but I hadn't really thought of the risk of female traffickers before, which is something that is very important for people to be wary of

But another issues is also overprotective parents to the point the child will sneak around, get into a horrible situation and not feel safe getting help from the parents because of how strict they are, or the child not sneaking around when they’re in the same household but the second they leave getting into those situations because they wanted freedom but went too far or didn’t know what it meant to really have privacy and good healthy boundaries.

I say this as a former sex worker myself, and my fairly brief time within that world really opened my eyes to the pervasiveness of coercion in these otherwise "light sex work" industries. I hold no judgement for people who would choose that line of work themselves, I've been there, but I also realize that there is no way to discern what you're purchasing, and whether it is ethically produced or not.

the problem is, u already purchase items from a human trafficker because this base assumption is incorrect people get trafficked to do everything its not just sex work people are trafficked to make clothes too its not about the service they provide that can just be moved around as they wish its about a countries laws and how they enforce them it has to do with all jobs and all people sex work shouldnt be ur soul focus forced labor is the problem its being a modern slave

@@YagamiKou I understand that, and I do what I can to buy from slow fashion and ethically produced goods, but I can't go through life swearing off clothing, food, etc., entirely. Sex work, however, is not something I ever NEED, and thus it is something I cut out entirely to be sure I'm not funding sex traffickers. And whether sex traffickers make up 10% or 90% of modern slavers, eschewing sex work is one way to GUARANTEE you aren't lining their pockets.

Viewing porn sites is something I think people should really consider giving up entirely, so that the chances of supporting traffickers are completely lowered, if not completely gone. You should let people know who you feel safe with so they are also aware for your own safety and support. Also you should tell your mom if its possible. Hopefully you have a good relationship with her. Because this man is shameless for taking advantage especially since your mom was so kind to let him rent. Your mom should kick him out m, she can get a new person to rent. Many people are looking for housing, especially students. I don't mean to pressure you but you should try and avoid him completely because these these types of predators you can't be nice to them or try to talk sense into them. They are shameless and see other human beings as toys. They are psychopaths. Also I'm worried he might try to take things further especially if he knows now that you are too scared to tell anyone. That's one of the main goals of grooming to get someone in a head space of not fighting back physically and or mentally or reporting them. I'm also a small girl but what I have learned with dealing with predatory or potentially predatory men is that you have to show that you have an iron will and that you will fight for yourself. I have been able to deter or "scare" away predatory men just by exerting a confident, dominant and even violent attitude. These worms prefer people who they think are mentally and or physically weaker. But if you show that you are willing to fight to the death for yourslef they most often back off because at the end of they day they just want to sexually abuse and or mentally torture their targets. If you show that you can and will ale them suffer too they usually loose interest. All I'm trying to day don't ever be afraid to fight for yourslef (physically or mentally) also fighting for yourself doesn't have to be loud or even violent. I'm also a relatively quite person but I have been able to create a quite persona that scares others off. Some people who don't know me even think I might be a psycho lol even though I'm a small and petite young woman who has a baby face. They usually say I have like an unhinged and violent expression in my eyes which is why they are usually intimidated or avoid me (except when I actually show my true kind self and or approach them politely myself). Like someone said you can also seek therapy to work through the trauma. I know some universities offer mental health care support or you can contact an anonymous helpline. You deserve to be safe and you don't need to bare any bs and creepy Ness from this man. He has no right nor does he deserve any of your time or kindness or patience. He is trying to harm you and he knows what he is doing. Care for yourself first. Also I get you not wanting to say you were groomed it might make you feel like you are a helpless victim. But it's important to acknowledge the bad thing that is or has happened and that you are not at fault and that you aren't helpless you have power, trust your self love and do what is best and most healthy for yourself. Don't suppress wanting to feel safe and at peace (also suppressing the feelings might make them resurface later and worse or even might make your brain justufy6what has happened and leave you more vulnerable to other predators.). I hope things get better for you ❤

You should have absolutely zero contact with this man. If your mother will listen and understand what a dangerous person this is, perhaps she will kick him out. If not, you cannot stay there with any expectation of safety at all. Also, yes, universities offer mental health counseling, if you are not at a Christian school, you will probably be able to get help that way. You can also try calling your national hotline (don’t know what country you are in) for victims and give them your story. Most countries have an agency trained to handle this… Be safe. Willing you protection from harm.
