For people asking about suits. They don't need suits inside. We used a suit model because a real-face astronaut model can look weird / uncanny and we thought it might distract from the point of the video. The main purpose of the model is to show the size of the Starship. If you have any ideas or suggestions, write them in the comments and we may take them into account if we make an updated video.

I loved it, however, I think that at least 5 or 6 toilets would be needed. Also, I believe that there should be water in the walls all over the ship (maybe 3 or 5 centimetres are enough), during the trip, a continious protection against radiation would be needed, though you may keep the shelter for extreme situations. The rest is all awesome, I think that you found a great balance between comfort and efficiency. All those people who say that colonisation missions will not bring more than 15 or 20 astronauts actually forget that you are not going to be in a cruise ship having vacations

@@monchocastillamontes1640 that is only true for the first few hundred people maybe, but if you want to bring a million people they are going to be regular people needing a bit more space. @@monchocastillamontes1640 , putting the water everywhere would require quite a lot of added weight for the tank to be able to survive takeoff, not to mention that it may develop holes in protection if water is not recycled efficiently enough. If the sleeping bags are made to protect from radiation, that would give passengers the best protection for about a third of the time they spend on board. Then, clothes for while in 0G may also be designed to protect crew. All of this for all passengers would be quite heavy, but protecting just the crew instead of the whole interior may be the best option. And of course, the belly of the ship, which has the double layer of steel for the evaporative heat shield could be pointed toward the sun during transit to provide better protection from solar radiation, but not cosmic radiation from the other direction. Plus pointing the window at the sun may blind people in the hallway just trying to come back from the toilet

Great video although I disagree with the sleeping section. The sleeping section should be an opportunity for astronauts to experience at least a little artificial gravity each 24 hour cycle. I feel that section should be spinning similar to those anti-gravity amusement park rides albeit spinning much slower. The astronauts would be lying flat against the outer hull of the spinning section (keeping their feet at essentially the same spin radius as their heads to reduce or eliminate the Coriolis Effect). It would be just for sleeping and it may not need to provide a full 1G of gravity to significantly reduce the astronauts physical deterioration due to weightlessness. Astronauts may need only spend 8 to 10 hours there out of every 24 hour cycle. Duration of daily experience to G-force as well as the amount of G-force are variables we'll need to determine but I think it can be done within the 30 foot hull diameter (as opposed to an elaborate mechanism to extend and spin living pods beyond the existing hull diameter).

A good education, healthcare, and a means to make a living or feel fulfilled through your work, a roof over your head and to in most cases to have a family. Everything else is power and money related which political parties fuel in order to get your votes so they can basically rip you off from your taxes that you pay.

But it's bad technical design. If you have only one connection tunnel, then one particle that hits through the hull is enough, and as a result you can no more get from the rooms at the top to the rooms at the bottom. A connection tunnel is also a waste of space that could be better used. In my option, every tubical section needs 3 connections to the next neighbour section. That way you can seal of individual places and you will still be able to get from the top to the bottom.

That was one of my thoughts. Solar storms can last days, and since people sleep and goof off playing video games and watching UKposts for a large portion of their day, it would make sense to have the sleep cabins also double as the radiation shelter. A short trip to the non-radiation-shielded bathroom, kitchen, or observation area wouldn't be immediately harmful. Just don't spend too much time there before you head back to the radiation shelter.

This thing is meant to land upright, so the denser parts must be placed closer to the bottom. Radiation shields add mass to a spaceship, and you must keep mass down for many reasons. The best shielded area of a spaceship/station is usually near a life-support system, usually near the center of the spaceship, because water. food Storage and batteries have more mass than the hull of the spaceship, but placed at the bottom of this one, as it lands upright, and you want life support punps close to airlocks, close to the ground. sleeping rooms have medium mass, so you put them just above. and above that you have exercise equipment, and above that you have larger emptier common rooms.

I doubt that this think could be used to transport 50 people to Mars. 6 months, or 180 days. That is 150 rations of food per day or 27,000 rations.You would also need roughly 100 liters of drinking water per day or 18 tons of drinking water . This is a problem since we are unable to recycle 100% of the waste products, meaning we would either have to store or drop off most of the toilet water after a certain amount of time, as it would be impossible to purify too many times. I also have to point out the excessive amount of windows on that thing. The are essentially a bunch of structual weak points added to a rocket, something that has to entire a lot of stress during take off and landing.

No, that's bad nomenclature: (a) Jefferie's Tube (three E's) is for systems-access, not routine crew movement, and (b) the inter-deck hatchways don't comprise a tube. Related: Matt Jefferie's concept for the _Enterprise_ was that all equipment would be accessible from the shirt-sleeve, pressurized interior -- so *this* rendering's idea of "batteries in the unpressurized sub-deck area" violates the "user-serviceable" goal.

@timothygooding9544
@timothygooding9544 3 роки тому
There has also been a concept for a 1/3 habitable and 2/3 unpressurized storage configuration (for fuel production and prefab base building) you can have strength either by pressure or by stringers (metal bars) like whats used now in the nosecones, the fuel tanks are far more pressurized than 1atm, so that method wouldn't be too good compared to normal stringers. plus, extra air filling unused space is extra weight, and so is the weight of the walls that will have to take that increased pressure & insulate if air is there.

I like that the beds are the launch seats. Other designs spend a lot of room putting seats on the top deck for launch. This double utilization of the beds/seats saves space. My only other comment applies to other designs as well. I don't see them wasting that much open volume on the top deck just for a view. There's got to be some other use of that space. Perhaps storage. Perhaps exercise.
