46:55 to the end of the video was so empowering. When you follow your bliss, you walk a sort of path that just feels right. Doors open, opportunities arise. Bliss, law of attraction, your inner self, a higher power, God. Doesn’t matter what you call it. We all have that ability to walk down the right path. You just have to trust yourself. Follow your bliss.

I read about that ritual and a natural history of the senses. So disturbing. So imagine being the poor girl in New Guinea OMG so you’re chosen to be basically gang raped and then murdered. Do they go willingly? Do they feel actually like they are being honored or do they have normal human reactions to the idea of what is going to happen to them? Does the boy that is the last one? KNOW he is the last one? I had these questions when I read about it. It reminds me a little bit of the “morning star” ritual of the Pawnee. I didn’t know that northern Native Americans did human sacrifice, but apparently they did… I don’t remember if cannibalism was involved.

For as wonderful as Campbell was, he didn't have much information on the female aspects of myths. Here is an excerpt from the Wikipedia article on Marija Gimbutas: "Joseph Campbell... compared the importance of Gimbutas's output to the historical importance of the Rosetta Stone in deciphering Egyptian hieroglyphs. Campbell provided a foreword to a new edition of Gimbutas's The Language of the Goddess (1989) before he died, and often said how profoundly he regretted that her research on the Neolithic cultures of Europe had not been available when he was writing The Masks of God."
