I am a mom of an almost 4 year old boy and I will just say, I'm a 26 year old child with ADHD, PTSD, anxiety, and depression. Many times during my pregnancy I was freaking out thinking I'd never be able to do this because who the hell am I to raise a whole human? I can hardly keep myself alive 😅 but you definitely just learn as you go 🤷‍♀️ my little dude is the funniest, smartest, coolest, sweetest, most loving little old soul I've ever met 🥹 I just try to raise him the way I wish my parents would have raised me. You'll never just be ready. I'm still not ready 🤣 but I'm doing it! And myself and everyone that knows us can say I'm doing a damn good job 🥰 you'd be an amazing mother because you would lift that kids confidence up, they would have an amazing sense of humor being raised by you, and you clearly have a lot of love inside of you ❤️ and as long as the kid is fed, loved, healthy, and happy that's all they need. 🥰

10:15 I feel like I’m equipped but not at the same time. But parenting is something that is one thing thinking about, but another thing when you’re doing it (from what I’ve heard). It’s something you figure out as you go along, because many things vary; the needs of your child, your own needs, the need for their development… there’s no blanket solution, there’s no manual that fits all children, that’s the joy of parenthood. It’s a journey, a new chapter in life.

Parent here! Only 1 of 3 children were "planned" and even then, we were trying to have a baby to fix our train wreck marriage. Lol BUT: despite the fact that I was a hot mess of not knowing wtf I was doing my entire life, and being undiagnosed combined ADHD for 39 years, (thus untreated) I think having kids is like one of the best, most rewarding adventures ever! Plus, you'd totally be the "cool mom" at school to the students! And the one the teachers know "don't bully her kid. She'll rake you across the coals in her own way, and you'll regret it". You'd be that hot nerd mom that all the Karen's are silently jealousy of, but never admit it! You'd be a total milf! ...what's a nerd milf? Nmilf? Mnilf? ...anyway... That's my parent comment! You freaking rock!

Kris, in response to your question, I truly believe you would be a PHENOMINAL parent as long as you have patience, love (which you have plenty of) and a good sense of morals. Not to mention that the general trademark of a great parent (just like a good leader) is one who questions if they are up to the task beforehand, because this helps them identify their faults and prepare for future difficulties. You would be an amazing parent and I can see that from how you treat Kevin. Just remember that parenting tends to be more straining on the parent than the child so it's important to come to realise that you will struggle and be tired at times. In addition to the above, it's important for a parent to be confident, but not arrogant. A parent should have the confidence to show and teach their child new things through example, and through this build confidence in this child. HOWEVER, there are plenty of lessons to be learnt in life and to deny the possibility that your child could teach you something as well is arrogance. Naturally, this is all just my humble opinion based on experience and logic, thus some may have something to add based on their own experience. I hope this message reaches you and whoever else was wondering or questioning if they too could be a parent. :)

Kris, as a father of 3 whose oldest is 17... I still don't feel ready. No one is ever actually ready. But you do need to at least understand that your life will no longer be yours after that point and decide that it is worth it despite the horrors it will bring. I have a story so one time in my 5th grade class. We were doing percentages thing to. So that the teacher could explain a word. But he was doing it, like black people, white people, mixed people, Hispanic, Asian, stuff, like that. This giant debate started. And a few people even got sent to the office, not gonna lie. I had something I wanted to say, so I said it. Not to the entire class, just to my teacher, he was like, can you say that out loud where everyone can hear it I'm like no I'm good. He asked me if he could say, and I said, yes, but then the debate started happening even more. Not important, but one time, my classmate said the f word to my teacher so that's kind of weird.

Okay, so I'm a mom. As far back as I can remember I wanted to be a mom. I had my first almost 15 years ago, and I *still* look around and wonder where the adult is who's meant to be in charge! Then I'm shocked (every time?!) when I realize it's supposed to be me! And I have a couple of *incredible* (if not infuriating at times) kids! The fact you're worried already says a lot! Work on healing and understanding yourself, and if you eventually decide to have kids, you'll find the capability! A good sense of humor definitely helps! [Disclaimer: I *did* offer to give away my teenager just this evening, so...]

So...with my oldest I was 19 and NOT ready, had no idea wtf I was doing. But I was also adopted, and loved my son from the second I knew he existed - and I knew no one would ever love him like I did. He 15 now, and THRIVING, and I honestly think I've done an okay job - he trusts me, is honest with me (and I was NEVER honest with my parents), and he's incredible with his little siblings. So...all I can say is you know when you know. I was adamant I wouldn't have children - and on birth control - when I found out about my oldest. And he's the best thing that's ever happened to me.

As a parent, I can say...I THOUGHT I was ready...but you never really are. You have to just go with the flow and figure it out as time passes because kids will throw shit at you that you never even dreamed possible. BUT, it's also very rewarding because you get to see these little people grow and learn and shape into a whole person before your eyes.

My wife had two sons from her first marriage, but after that developed a tumor in her womb (non Malignant, but still, we didn't want to take any chance, so we went for the hysterectomy). I was scared and not ready to be a mom at all but I did it. Now I have have 5 boys and they are all a blessing in my life. Ages from 18 years old to 3 years old. My oldest will actually be turning 18 this year and he has turned out to be an amazing person. 😊 I believe that we are given only what we can handle in life. I truly believe that if you ever become a mom you will be great. You have an amazing soul. Keep being you. 💞

New mom here: I knew I wanted my baby, but was I ready? Is anyone really until they are here? ^^ You learn as you go, and it works out in the end, I think. What can be said about babies (my daughter is about 9 months now) is that they are not complicated: they need food, clean nappies, sleep and lots of love. And cuddles. Keep them fed, warm and clean and they are content. The only one judging you on your parenting is yourself and maybe the people around you. Your little one is happy if the points above are met, and you get the hang of them rather quickly. That said: There is no shame at all in not wanting children. I do believe this decision, if it is indecisive, hangs a lot on the partner too.
