My takeaway from this challenge: I remember the moment fifteen minutes into it, mind completely blank, "Okay, I have to hit record now." Cut to one week later, we have an animated film that I genuinely love and it would not have happened without Joel's call to action. Thank you, Joel!

17:29 was hands down my favorite scene. The handshake practice, the wolf howl and surprise punch in the nuts with the unintelligible address mumble. It was perfection

20:47-24:43 is definitely the funniest sequence. I love the idea of a drug dealer who gets confused on when to stay quiet. Beyond that I think -Nathaniel- The Bad guy is my favorite character in this movie.

Dax and Trent together is something special. Love their energies.I hope they do lots more together!

This is SO GOOD. Seriously laughed my ass off the whole time. It was like 28 Days Later meets The Breakfast Club, but with a twist.

The chaotic ending was gold, every single SECOND of this was gold I kept going back while watching just to hear lines again. Everyone was incredible and I loved every different pairing. Seeing everyone finally meet up for the party was insaneo style and Joel coming to the party just to leave was perfect. I want everyone I know to see this , Thank you Joel Haver 😂🙏🏼

The shortest film I made was the same aspect, in college we were supposed to film our film over 3 days but I I went to a different state and it took some time so we had to shoot everything in one night, and the movie came out amazing. It was really stressful but a ton of fun. I wanna get into it again it's been a long time

I originally planned on submitting a film but unfortunately didn't find time to edit due to having an exam week. Just wanted to say kudos to all involved in this film and to those who submitted their own films. Hope to see you all continue to share your creativity!

There's so much symbolism hiding under the surface. This film is a wonderful allegory of the decline of traditional cinema as new online media replaces it. Many pieces of the plot revolve around the character of the Wolf and other characters who seek to pitch him ideas in return for funding. Most ideas are bad, or especially in the case of the surprise birthday, an unoriginal reboot of a well-established idea. The Wolf is a personification of the Hollywood industry, obsessed with money and sealed behind nepotistic relationships. He holds all the renown and power at the start of the film. When the creators seem him out for support of their ideas, their competition and greed inspire them to commit worse acts of violence and deceit. At the surprise party, happening concurrently with the Oscars, the Wolf dies of an overdose on the worst drugs in the world, a victim of his own extravagance and self-destructive habits. He is not mourned; in fact, his jacket is immediately stolen by businessmen eager to take his place. All this is a symbolic statement that Hollywood is dead, in a sense, perhaps creatively, perhaps financially. This is the subversive "surprise" Haver and Co. are partying over, for who takes the place of Hollywolf? The humble independent creators do, represented in the film by the rapper. As an independent artist, we see him living his dream comfortably, a self-actualized man who has even stolen the heart of a woman whose love once lay elsewhere. Despite the disrespect from those who cling to Hollywolf's corpse (Alex), he confidently rises to the occasion of making creative effort. Despite the exboyfriend's pleas, audiences (girlfriend) are happy with the choices they make to support the new artist with whom they have a relationship. Plus, I haven't even begun to break down Trent's dialogue, but i think I've gone on long enough. Suffice to say, pure poetry!
