In 1984 I was working at a startup building, among other things, a dedicated hardware-based graphics engine. At the time, I remember reading an article in Scientific American about a a computer-generated image of 4 glass spheres that demonstrated the image rendering technique called "ray tracing". The simple 512×512 image took something like 16 hours on a Cray-1 Supercomputer to generate. It looks like that in the very near future, if you cannot do full 8K 60FPS ray-traced video on your phone, then there's something wrong with you...😈

It means if Cortex X1 at 5nm (on sd 888) and Cortex X2 at 4nm (on dimensity 9000) are used at same frequency say 2.8 ghz, then Cortex X2 will be 35% more powerful. And if they are to give same performance say Cortex X1 5nm at 2.8 ghz and Cortex X2 4nm at 2.5 ghz, Cortex X2 will use 37% less power. In geekbench terms, It will mean: 1. Cortex X1 5nm at 2.8 ghz will give score around 975 and Cortex X2 4nm at 2.8 ghz will give 1225. 2. Cortex X1 5nm at 2.8 ghz will use 1.25 watt of power and Cortex X2 4nm at 2.5 ghz will use just 0.9 watts of power and will have same performance of 975 on geekbench. Hope it explains.

Mediatek is improving so fast that I think this year they will finally able to take the crown from Qualcomm or Exynos. The only downside I can think of is the Mali GPU, which was always been inferior to Adreno and now AMD has got something in store for Exynos. Things they need to improve are unlocking camera API and better driver support for new OS, which was always been a weak side of Mediatek. But I think they would now go ahead and do something and looks like my next phone would feature a _Mediatek inside_ Edit: what is with the naming scheme btw, wasn't it supposed to be D2000?

It's called asymmetric multi processing, and requires the OS scheduler to be aware of the core topology, and make appropriate decisions about what jobs are assigned to each core (as well as which cores are in low power standby states). I am more interested in finding out the long term performance from MediaTek, I never expected much performance from them but I have had bad experiences with MediaTek smartphones, their performance degrades in a matter of months rather than years whereas with my Qualcomm Snapdragon devices the performance seems to way less degraded if not as good as the first day. I mean, if they all use similar config in terms of CPU that is fine, hopefully all are equals, but Qualcomm normally is the one that gets more love from developers or their CPU governor is just better. I wonder how the GPU is gonna compared VS this year's Adreno and also... Amd rdna2 on the Exynos!?, About 3:32... We'll see, I can't believe the improvement is so great compared to last gen Mali GPUs of similar specs (cores). Also, the RT might be just partial, which is still amazing for a smartphone SoC!, This is the jump they get from Mali... Then Adreno and the AMD solutions might be better right? Anyway, competition is good for us the users, things are getting really interesting this year.

The only + Points are 3 GHz Cpu internal Gpu g710 with 10gb + ray tracing on Vulkan so 10,000mb = 10gb for integrated graphics at 12,000mb = 12Gb integrated graphics who the ultra-minimum and low gaming over Cpu fluid with demanding gaming. Unfortunately, that is not So, you only need 24-25gb ram on win 11 with the memory optimization who saves without GPU external 10gb + 2x8gb ddr5 ddr4 ram to do everything perfectly. The Cpu core who is perfect for gaming, and other stories with an optimized system, saves you get real money for GPus. But that is only possible with Win 11 Pro, Win 10 Pro would mess it up, I don't know how Linux works, unfortunately I have no experience with it. In my opinion, buy a CPU, just like that or they should have built 12gb 12,000mb cups g710. If it's not too expensive, it's perfect. You don't need GPUs anymore, only if you need DLLS 2.0 + and + OpenGL + Ray Tracing you have to buy one. But the shaft delivers the CPU without running anything liquid without problems in ram Cpu Combo without an extra GPU. best choice. If it is cheaper in the end not otherwise. Would rather wait for 12gb to 12.000 MB CPUs.
@sokool3994
@sokool3994 2 роки тому
Ray tracing isn't that expensive. The RTX 2060 only has 6GB of VRAM, and that manages to do ray tracing just fine. Since this is a high-end SoC, it's likely going to be paired with 12/16GB of RAM, which should be enough to allocate some of it to the RAM. Also, running everything on the CPU is computationally expensive. Last time we used the CPU for graphics rendering was in the 90s. And the introduction of graphics accelerators basically made a huge leap forward in graphics. I saw a modern 64-core Threadripper 3990X struggle to run Crysis at basically the lowest settings using software mode (which is basically rendering the graphics using the CPU) and that's a pretty old game (Crysis in low settings is pretty easy to run)

@@basantatamang2249 lesser the chip goes back to Ram to fetch instructions, faster the chip. Keeping insurrections to be used often/soon are loaded up in cache from Ram beforehand so that the CPU cycles are fully utilised. If CPU can run 1,000 instructions per cycle but Ram can only give 500 per cycle, CPU is wasting energy and not processing as much data as it should be. If you have big cache, you can load up lots of data and keep CPU/GPU fed with instructions at all times so you use maximum benefit of the CPU (let’s say 950 instructions per cycle on a CPU designed for 1,000 per cycle) Saves energy and runs faster.

Being both at the same time seemms really unlikely, and marketing it that way is misunderstanding with such big numbers.
