As a daughter of a Karen, I can tell you it definitely left an impression scar on how to NOT act in public. Our Mom was so bad, we dreaded going out in public with her. She thinks everyone is out to target her like it’s a personal vendetta & it’s not. Adults throwing temper tantrums is all it is! You kill more flies with honey than vinegar!!

I literally love when people say “you’re not going to have a job” because 99.99999999% nothing this employee did is a fireable offense.

I’m someone who doesn’t like cussing because I associate with someone being angry because of childhood stuff, but I don’t go around telling people they’re not allowed to cuss, that’s just pure entitlement.

We have a customer at work we call “radiation lady.” She gets 2 of every item she wants at our grocery store. 1 we scan then put it back on the shelf. The other item isn’t scanned so she doesn’t get radiation poisoning. She throws a fit if she gets an item that was scanned. I don’t have the heart to tell her how many times an item has been scanned from production to our shelves. Our 1 scan isn’t going to make any difference.

As the daughter of a Karen I do have emotional scars. I grew up in Cuba were people are not afraid of lawsuits, which means if you act like a Karen you can expect to get punched or worse. I was always getting between my mom and whomever she chose to yell at because I was afraid she was going to get beat up for her behavior. Imagine a 8yo trying to calm people down so things wouldn't escalate. When I was 16 I had enough and told my mother I would never go out in public with her again. I broke my own rule once when I was 30 and she hasn't changed at all, but I have. I told her point blank: If you get punched in the face I'm not stepping in.

As an Ulta employee it really is that bad. We are no longer allowed to ask people to wear a mask because two separate stores in our district were threatened with gun violence by a customer over it.

The Karen at the skate park I have seen many times and it never gets old 😂 I never noticed the person cussing in the background tho 😭😂

I've got a Karen story for you. I was 17 and working at a Fazoli's as a server. I had a Christian woman in her 30s (this was during our after Church rush one Sunday and she was still in her Church clothes), yelling at me and going on and on about how it was such terrible service, she was never coming back, etc. Why? Because I wouldn't separate her two slices of pizza with my bare hands, and explained that I would have to go back to the kitchen for food service gloves. Because God forbid, a grown ass woman use her perfectly functioning hands and separate the slices herself. I also told her it was against health code and that I wasn't going to violate the health code. I had to literally bite down on my tongue to keep from mouthing off to her with the question, "What would Jesus do?". She had everyone in the restaurant staring at her and her group, it was dead silent except for her yelling. Another waitress who had been there longer (I was a new hire at the time) came over to see what was going on and said the same thing to this woman. We finally had to pull our manager away from his monthly paperwork, just for him to also say it would be in violation of the health code. He finally just gave her a free slice to shut her up, then pulled myself and the other waitress into his office to say how proud he was of our handling of the situation and that we hadn't done anything wrong, and not let that woman get us down. Oh, and she did all this in front of the six year old child in her group, who I'm guessing one of the slices of pizza was for. Poor kid just wanted to get to eat his lunch, and she wouldn't just separate the slices and shut up.

Woman at Bones & Scones refused to wear a mask and employee refused her entry into the pet food store. She ended up calling 911 to complain. She wanted a cop to come make the employee let her shop. The store was actually closing and she ended up telling the 911 dispatcher she wouldn't wait for the cop because the store was closing.

I have always been under the impression a private owned store can make their own requirements, just like " No shirt, no shoes, no service"

So dead serious, the moment that you said that if there's going to be cussing at a skatepark, my immediate reaction was, "Well ya, no fucking shit." Which has now made me realize that I am the person this Karen would 100% try to take to juvenile court because I curse enough to make sailor's proud.

The guy at the gym, CREEPER. That lady was nice, instead of giving him stink eye or screaming she informed him politely that he was acting in a creepy way and asked him to leave, and left when he asked her too. Not a Karen. I encounter Karens everyday and she is not one.

I was gonna say that idling in cars is bad for the environment, but like, if you have a baby, and you need A/C, you do what you gotta do lmao. Also there's a massive difference between politely asking someone to turn off their engine and actively terrorizing them for extended periods of time

I work at a movie theatre and this guy was asking for a ticket refund (understandable). I asked if there was a reason he wanted to leave the movie since we have to select why we are giving a refund in the register. Mans was embarrased bc he tried to confront someone who was sitting in his seat, and left the movie bc he was in his head about it. Relateable. I offered him any one thing from the menu on the house for his troubles. This relateable old man was so angry at me offering over priced movie theatre food for free. He was like what am I supposed to get! >:( im going home! popcorn all over my car!??????? Like we don't sell drinks and food other than popcorn. Im just out here trying to make this mans experience less bad and he flips on me for literally no reason....o-o

My story: I was with my friends at a public park and we were playing catch, the ball went into a tree. I started climbing the tree and an old ken came along and said “get out of the tree, that’s public property!” I said no it’s a public park I can do what I want. Then he called the cops and we had to tell them what happened and he just ran away (very slowly) when the cops asked him what happened 😂🤣😂

Had some couple come in, I wasn't serving them because I went on break. Come back and their Nachos they got at our convenience store wasn't covered by food stamps. They were pissed about it, nothing we could do. So, being kind, my coworker was like: You know what, whatever. It's cool, you can have it. But this couple decided to be upset and say no. They weren't taking the nachos. At this point the transaction was done, we'd already finalized it so... They were angry we still charged their card for the other things they got. Tried encouraging them to just *take the nachos* but it was the 'principle' of it to them. Thing is, these nachos come prepackaged and then you add toppings like onions, cheese, the like... They'd opened the package and topped it up with stuff before coming to buy things. We couldn't even put it back on the shelf or anything. So, just take them. I ended up taking the nachos outside while they were getting in the car. I didn't offer it for a 5th time to them. I DID toss them in the trash outside so the jalapenos and onions wouldn't stink up the store under hot cheese all night. Then the male of the couple came in demanding our names. We gave them. And then shrugged it off because... We do the best work at this store. What's the fear to be had? You'll get us fired over nachos? Like, the couple was shocked that I threw away the nachos. It was going to happen anyway, I just wanted some justice. Your actions have consequences. See, nobody gets the nachos now.

Stores have always had the “no shirt, no shoes no service” policy so telling someone “no mask, no service” isn’t much different. Especially if it’s a privately owned store they can make whatever rules they want, if you don’t like it then don’t shop there!

I did a Karen move at a pharmacy. Not to make excuses but I'm Bipolar & I was very manic at the time. I normally don't even leave my house when I am manic because I have no filter & my fuse is easily lit. Anyway, what should have been no more than a 15 min visit to pick up my prescription (that I had to pick up in person) turned into an over 1 hr affair. The Pharmacist took it upon himself to change my prescription. He didn't notify me of the change & the reason he gave for the change was that my insurance no longer covered it. Medicare ALWAYS sends a letter when they change prescriptions & I didn't receive one. I told the Pharmacist I was a retired RN hoping that he would come clean & fill my original prescription as it was ordered. He continued to lie to me & then made a move toward me (I was sitting in their waiting room talking to a Medicare rep) to take me by the arm & walk me out of the room because they were closing for lunch. I was so pissed off. I said something to him that was so shameful I won't repeat it here. He took me by the arm, & pulled me out of the waiting room, the manager was waiting for me, & I was told that I was trespassed from the store. I still had the Medicare rep on the phone. I told the manager, let me finish my call & I will leave. I hung up the phone & asked the manager who was the Pharmacist boss. She told me the Board of Pharmacy. I told her, "Inform the Pharmacist that I'm reporting him." I went home & made a formal complaint to the Board of Pharmacy & guess what, that Pharmacist is no longer practicing in my state. A police officer called my house later that day to tell me if I returned to that store I would be arrested for criminal trespass. One year later, that order was rescinded by the manager. I did apologize to her for what I said because there WAS NO EXCUSE for the vile thing I said.

Yo I swear, idk what it is, I worked a job where I opened a French Boulangerie Patisserie in a wealthy area and I had at least a dozen Karens on a rampage come in, they'll look you up and down and say 'I want a S O U R D O U G H bread' and you'll be like 'Sure Karen, everything but this one is sourdough, what's good?' and 100% of the time their face drops and they'll leave without buying anything. It's like they thrive off disappointment I don't get it. Or I've had a Karen try and argue our baguettes weren't sourdough and her two friends were just standing behind her like 'not again' 🤣

Of course, this angers the Karen and she says no and demands the flight attendant's name, which she does give her along with her badge number, then the Karen has the audacity to threaten that she won't have a job tomorrow. Then the flight attendant immediately heads to the front and says "I want this woman off the flight." Now, the REST of the video shows the Karen immediately changing her mood and trying to apologize realizing she fked up and is not going to get her way, so now she tries arguing with the flight attendant and refusing to leave the flight. You should've played the rest of the video where she has her tail between her legs!!! 👏👏👏

I have a Karen story for y’all So my family and I were going to Utah by plane. So we’re sitting on our plane minding our business and my sister has this bag of M&Ms that she was eating out of. And the airline said that you could temporarily remove your mask while eating or drinking. My parents were in the row behind us so my sister turned around and offered my dad some M&Ms and her mask was down because she had just popped a handful of M&Ms into her mouth. Then as she was turning back around Karen looked at my sister and distinctly pulled up her mask very aggressively as to tell my sister to pull her’s up. My sister proceeds to hold up the bag of M&Ms and point at them. After that my sister pulls up her mask and tries to shove an M&M through it. After we had landed, we were the last people to get off the plane. Our mom had been having back issues and couldn’t get off the plane as fast so she told us to go ahead to baggage claim. When she found us at baggage claim, she told us that the flight attendant had asked her wether or not my mom had her mask up the whole time. My mom said yes. The flight attendant proceeds to say that Karen complained that a woman in the back of the plane was not wearing her mask. To that my sister said, “If you are really that concerned about a fully-vaccinated teenager wearing her mask on a plane while she is eating, that that’s when you start getting concerned with your life priorities.” To this day we still talk about Karen in Seat A.

I called police on someone twice in my life and only because little ones were in danger. One time was when I was a teenager and at work, we had this woman leave the pizza place and place her infant (maybe 3-5 months old in a little carrier if that old she was super tiny but very alert) I happened to look out the back window on the door where I saw her actually close fisted punching the baby in its carrier. I called my boss over to see because I was thinking there’s no way I’m seeing this right now! We called police and she was arrested and an ambulance took the baby to a hospital. I’m not sure what happened after that but don’t regret for a second stepping in there. The second time I was living in the same town in an area of California where it is a hundred degrees F before it is even noon and I had passed by this car where there were four little ones hanging out of this car parked on the side of the road. No adults were around and at first I left it thinking I just didn’t see anyone maybe the parent was bent over in the drivers seat and I just missed them or something and while I was worried esp seeing what was probably a two year old maybe three at the oldest hanging out of the window closest to traffic. I ran a couple errands and even with ac in my car and going in and out of air conditioned building my little one, she was just a few months old at this point, was having trouble and I was having a hard time keeping her cool enough just from the car to a building to pay a bill and back. I was only out running errands for about an hour and when I headed home this same car is still sitting there and the littlest one is just laying out the window at this point and covered in sweat and the other kids were just sitting there now and I actually came to almost a complete stop and realized there was no adults around them and up ahead I see a police car going down the road that crossed along in front of where we were so I drove up and took a left to catch up with the officer and told him what was on the cross street. Come to find out the woman aka “the mother” of these poor little kids left them in the car, which was off, in the heat while she was trying to get her bf out of jail across the street! I was furious when I found this out because it was way too hot outside and at this point was almost lunch time and well over a hundred degrees out at that point. They took the children to the local hospital to be checked out and arrested the mother. I could not believe anyone would leave their children in a hot car like that for hours! I only saw them twice in an hour but apparently she’d been there for longer than that and the officers across the street had no idea these little kids were out there because the entrance to that building faced a cross road on the next block over so she was behind the actual building she was in! No line of sight for those kids, no air conditioning, no water to drink was left the the kids and they were just there all alone in scorching heat. I sometimes wonder what the hell these parents are thinking sometimes. Why on earth would you leave your little ones in a hot car all alone.

I've been called a Karen a few times... Thank you for pointing out that just because someone stands up for themselves that they are not a Karen. -I dress goth/ witchy. I got pulled aside by a McDonald's employee and asked if I was a part of a cult. They would not let me leave until I heard the word of God. -Calling the police on people in my neighborhood playing music too loud. My neighbors know that I have issues getting to sleep because of my health and still did it. -Got called a Karen the other day for getting upset that my workers comp is being billed to me. And the doctor's office blaming it on me for not giving them information that they didn't ask for. I've been going weekly and they didn't even ask for my name the last time I went. -For not wearing a mask (here me out). I am a SA survivor. My mouth was covered during. Before the panorama I was doing better mentally but during it my PTSD came back hard. I couldn't go anywhere for more than 5 mins without having a full blown disassociative anxiety attack in the store. I stopped at one point cause I just couldn't do it anymore. I'm on such a high dose of anxiety meds now that I can do it for a good amount of time a day... But when I stopped I got yelled at twice for not wearing it due to medical reasons. It's people like these who ruined it for me. I'm just saying... People not able to wear them is a real thing but... It's rare. Really rare. It's just selfishness. I tried my best during restrictions. I got my groceries delivered, went in the really early hours to get other stuff. Lots of Amazon. Even had telemed appts and got my meds delivered. Even my therapist called me a Karen without calling me one because of it. Didn't mean to dump my life into a comment but... Here we are

Ok so I have a short story about a 13 year-old Karen. So once we both went to the store (this girl was a friend, she isn't now) and she wasn't wearing a mask the cashier asked for her to put a mask on she didn't she said she was 11 and that she had asthma I said just put the damn mask. The cashier said I know you arnt 11 I know your over 12 I'm not a idiot. She refused and threw all the beanie Boos off the shelf and stormed outta the store while me and my bestie just stood there and didn't even run after her she called us after saying why didn't U stand up for me and why didn't you run after me and we legit just took the train home while she was calling her mum to pick her up and saying we bullied her 🙄

I have unfortunately met both a karen and a kyle in public at a Taco Bell. The employees only forgot to take lettuce off of a taco, and offered to make a new one when told. But then both of them just started SCREAMING at the employees, insulting them and threatening to jump the counter to beat the person who didn't take the lettuce off up, and then even saying he was going to jump him in the parking lot after dark. The police were called and both of them were removed from the Taco Bell, but it was hectic and the whole time my mom and I just exchanged these looks of 'wth'. All that for some lettuce.

The only time I've called the police is when I found a child being left in the car and another time when my neighbor was being beat up by her spouse..... everything else is none of my business.

I know it might be a different scenario but, I can relate to asking someone to turn off their car. I work in customer service at a warehouse. Our customers will back into the parking spaces to pick up their orders, and sometimes they forget to turn off their car. We will remind them because the exhaust fumes can be potent, and we don't like breathing them in.

Funny story: one time me, my mom, and my nana (grandma) went to target. Now we live in Texas so around this time most stores had lifted the face mask mandate so for the most part we didn’t wear ours. They were still enforcing it at target though so like reasonable people me and my mother put our mask on. My nana did not and in a very cynical matter said “No I’m not gonna give my business to people like you.” So we were like whatever just go wait in the car while we get what we need. Five minutes later me and my mom see nana appear out of no where and when we ask how she explains how she waited til the woman at the front was distracted so she could sneak into a target. To this day me and my cousins find it hilarious.

At this point, i feel bad for the police and managers for all the calls they get from karens.

The explanation to the last story: the guy was storing a friends boat on his property but these people (according to the people, the friends ex) showed up and started to take the boat. All the guy wanted was to get a confirmation that they were the right people to take the boat. that gets confusing in all the yelling.

One Karen I have dealt with was when me and my family where eating at a Mexican restaurant and the waitress was just on those computers that you type orders into and a man and his wife walk up to her and say; “Hello, it’s Our anniversary.” And the waitress congratulated them and said “oh yeah we have that table over there with the 15 people. Do you think that since it’s our anniversary, We can have a discount?” And the waitress said she can’t do that and the man said “ That’s not right it’s my anniversary and I deserve to get what I want!” Then he angery walked away.

Being around the same age as Karen #1, I can say that I was brought up in a strict household where cursing was not allowed and you got your mouth washed out with soap. So I kind of see where she's coming from on that. However it does not excuse by any means her approaching this children and acting like this. But you're right she's got no business in a skate park and if she's going to go around a whole bunch of teenagers or younger, they're going to do their thing because their parents aren't around. Tolerance was also taught in my household.

Here is my Karen story: So I was at Walmart (yes Walmart- normal day) and little background I’m trans f-m, gay, and wear guy clothes and a s**t ton of makeup. The Karen I came across was wearing normal everyday clothes and light makeup. So I was at Walmart and my dad had gone to get my medication from the pharmacy (anxiety medication) and let me go to get whatever I needed then him and I would meet at the front before we checked out. Well I went to go grab some glue for my sale I’m doing (slime sale- I’ve made over $20 off of this 🤣🤣) and went to go grab a book for my brother. Well as I was heading to go find a book a woman came up behind me and said “umm young lady?” So I turn around knowing that most people don’t really know I’m trans at first sight. Usually people ask “where did you get your haircut!? It’s super cute!” And stuff like that! No this Karen goes “are you gay or something!?” And by that point I was like oh god- this is a Karen isn’t it- so I say “yes I’m actually trans f-m and gay. Do you need anything?” And she says “well that’s disgusting! You are a disgrace and a disgusting girl!” I was like oh my and calmly said “ ma’am if you are gonna talk to me please use he/they pronouns. I don’t care what you think it’s your opinion.” And by this point I didn’t have a phone and my dad needed his phone while I went off to get my few things. Well this Karen was having none of that! She glares at me and says “who’s your manager! I was to speak to him!” I sigh and walk away and she walks in front of me! I say a bit angry at this point “ma’am I’m just trying to get my s**t and leave! Please leave me alone!” When I say this woman almost cried when I cursed! She said “who’s your manager! I want to speak to him immediately!” I say still annoyed and angry “ma’am I don’t have my phone right now so I can’t record this please leave me alone! If you don’t I will scream stranger danger and have someone call the police to have you escorted out of Walmart!” And I walk away! She legit stared in horror as I walk into the book aisle. When I walk out she was glaring at where I walked in at and I was just like “another Karen in the wild” and walked away. That was my Karen story! I hope you liked it! I did leave a few details out but they aren’t that important! 😁

I dunno about america or anywhere else but there is literally no excuse in england for not wearing a mask. Every Tesco I've been in, before restrictions were lifted, have free masks at the entrance in case you forgot to bring one.
