The idea of even seeing the Fire Nation actually invading the Air Temples blew my mind when I first watched it

If I recall correctly, we're also meant to see Gyasto fight Sozin. Also Gyasto's narration, "Time is a funny thing," seems to be a parallel to Uncle Iroh's "Destiny is a funny thing."

Honestly my one wish would be that they go a little farther in making Zuko's scar look kind of fucked up. Like something a little more than a red mark, and that could portray the horror of "this kid got half his face burned off," a horror which gets really driven home when you learn that Ozai did that to his own son.

I like most of the stuff in the trailer, the only thing that i find annoying is that the clothes feel a little to clean. It’s kind of a nitpick, but it feels like this is the first times the characters use them, and slips into the territory of looking like costumes, not clothes. Though everything else looks great, so I’m exited.

I love running gag of the cabbage cart and I really hope it is in the live action. But i love even more the running gag of you ‘not remembering’ ever seeing the cabbage cart before.

i think you really have to look at this trailer with the viewpoint of a fan that's already intimately familiar with the show, meaning they can lean on different things in the adaptation, like showing Ozai earlier and introducing Azula earlier, because as fans of the show we already know when that happens and such, i'm really excited to see this new take on avatar

When the agni kai scene came up My thought process was that him kneeling down was in front of Ozai but him cutting the fire in half was his dual with Zhao. Either that or it’s him kneeling before he stands up to face Zhao in his dual.

Hot take I actually preferred what they did with Aang’s tattoos in the Shamalan movie, I thought the intricate design was a great way to bring something pretty cartoony into the live action world

I think the scene with ozai and Zuko dueling could really work strong if Zuko is constantly defending and ozai is screaming at him "Fight! You will fight!"

I think the best design by FAR is Zuko. He looks EXACTLY how I would expect real life Zuko to look, they nailed it with the actor, costume, and makeup.

I'm pretty sure the shot of zuko blocking a fire blast is in his agni kai with zhao. they cut right from ozai to zhao but the scenery changes.

It looks AMAZING!! Literally my ONLY note would be to add wear and tear to the costumes. That's IT! Can't wait honestly, this trailer gives me a lot of hope.

Aang only smiling so briefly in the trailer has me a little nervous. A big part of why the live action movie felt so disappointing (aside from the writing, pacing, and butchering of the names for no reason) was Aang felt too serious. A big part of why the One Piece adaptation is so good is because Luffy feels like a live action Luffy. I think it will be hard for fans to embrace the series if they miss the mark on Aang's personality.

I don't think the shot at 4:18 with zuko blocking the shot is his first Agni Kai. I think this is the one against Zhao and the editor's are trying to make us think it's the same scene. Especially for those who haven't seen the animated one.

it looks like the tone and style are good, but i think this show's success really depends on the fight choreography. live action delivers a unique punch in that regard, mixed with bending, there could be a ton of potential.

Gyatso was the one doing the narration, IIRC. And his speech actually mirrors a lot of Ursa's last words to Zuko before she got disappeared. "Never forget who you are." "Always remember who you are."

Never thought we'd actually see a live action of ATLA at all. For its first live action i hope it goes well

I honestly did not expect Zuko to have the shaved head-ponytail combo! Good on them for seemingly staying true to the whole aesthetic of the series! I do think everything looks rather plasticy... a bit cosplay-ish. Not entirely lived in and believable, but oh well. It still looks like a blast! 😄

Probably unpopular opinion, but I liked the movie’s tattoo arrow more than what I’m seeing here. The one in the movie had more “tattoo” qualities (for a lack of a better term) than just a blue arrow fully filled in. And the intricate design around the air nomad insignia looked pretty cool.

I remember being in high school when this was initially announced and I was skeptical. Recent commentary on the casting, visuals, and this trailer now have made me put my guard down a bit. around 1:17 or before. It was actually confirmed by Albert Kim (Showrunner for the Netflix LA), that it was Monk Gyatso (Aang's Airbending mentor) that did the narration here. I actually though it was Roku too, which is a fair assumption.

I really hope they add a bit of grit into the tone, up the stakes in a regular fight, I think that it makes sense seeing as the actors (and by extension the characters) are older than they were in the original. It's what I wanted when I found out that the characters would have to be older (for obvious reasons, shows like this take a long time to produce and if they were all kids we'd see them age a lot more than if they cast them a bit older) and with the scene depicting the raids on the air temples it seems they might go that route. It would suck if they used that as a reason to sap out all the comedy, because that's one, what made Sokka, Sokka, and two, a huge part of the charm and the biggest reason (IMO) that the Movie That Must Not Be Named failed so hard.

The part that had me full of hope and tearbending was actually the very last scene, the way Katara nudges Aang and nods to let him know Momo was there just felt like the exact way they would behave in the show. Everything else said was basically taken straight out of my thoughts

So I’m hyping myself up and getting ready for this show to release, finally, and I stumbled across your channel. Dude, may I just say, I immediately loved ya and subscribed just by hearing your voice.

Love the video, and the speediness of it's upload! A few things I thought I'd mention, I don't think that the scene with the soldiers saluting Zuko is related to the Zuko scene, namely because it's already on the fire nation ship, plus the reason of Azula planning to arrest Zuko at the beginning of season 2 is crucial to the timeline of how the season plays out, and if they do it too early then Zuko wouldn't have his ship at all, nor would Zhao be able to take it from him, unless this is Zhao taking it from him. I'm also surprised you didn't mention the drawing of Yangchen already hung up on the wall when Zuko puts Aang's wanted poster there. One more thing is what seems to be the statue of Avatar Kyoshi in the final shot approaching Kyoshi island, except it seems to be made of marble or stone. Love the video! I'm excited for the next release of Overanalyzing Korra!! Cheers!

I’m more than fine with changes from the original show. In fact, it would suck for it to just be a shot for shot remake. But the catch is that the changes need to be the right changes. They need to keep the essential plot beats, character development and arcs, and overall narrative. But having the Spirit Oasis be inside instead of outside? Sure. Starting Azula’s storyline earlier? Sure. The changes need to be for the benefit of the live action. Animation and live action have their strengths and weaknesses. The show needs to know when and how to properly adapt an element from animation

The question I have is will it justify it’s existence and give us something faithful and new it’s a hard balance

I think as far as we can tell, at least visually, this looks absolutely perfect. I think Ozai and Azula are the most off, but even then they're pretty good. Suki looks identical, and the rest of the visuals for the locations seem amazing. Is this what it feels like to be... excited for a live action adaptation of atla? I saw the movie in theaters as a kid and I was pretty young at the time, and even then I knew it was hot dog shit. But this actually looks good, obviously we don't know how the acting will be, but if this is any indication of the level of detail and attention they're putting towards this product, oh boy we may been in for something special.

Whatever they do I hope it ISN'T trying to balance everything. As long as they choose what they want to do and they do it instead of pulling it in every direction trying to get new people in, while satisfying old fans, and trying to be new but enough old at the same time, then I think it will be fine. If they give it a different tone for a new generation but they do it well, I'll still be happy.

I was impressed with a lot of the adaptations they made, characters and locations etc. The shot of Aang in the ashen forest popped up and I heard some instruments creeping in. "Huh" I thought, "that sounds familiar". Then the main theme kicked in as the Gaang flew off on Appa. Goosebumps all over, what an utter joy it was to hear again.

The biggest thing that bothers me is that Sokka and Katara swapped skin tones with Zuko and Iroh, which makes sense, since Fire Nation was heavily based on a lot of asian lore, and the south pole is constantly in winter, so the skin tones make sense, but it still feels weird after watching the whole show.

But what about the moon? Is it full all the time or does it have actual phases?

At Kyoshi island, maybe it is Aang we see but in the form of Avatar Kyoshi? Like when he assumed the form of Avatar Roku. They set it up as a thing that can happen, and we do see Kyoshi in Sokka's detective episode.

Ok so like... I'm rather hoping that other firebenders' fire is cleaner. Zuko fuels his fire with his anger and is still in need of training. Others are better focused and have trained without relying on their anger. Azula better have a clean burn with zero smoke. that smoke is a sign of imperfection.

If nothing else, the fact that it adapted the character designs decently well means it's already far better than the last live action adaptation. Like the writing and fight choreography could all be bad but at least it's done at least _one_ thing right.

My biggest issue with the trailer is that they seem to have made a lot of scenes ‘darker’. Like the supposed raid on the air temple takes place at night and so does Zuko walking between the firebenders. Both of these were in the daytime in the show (At the very least Sozins comet gave everything daytime lighting) and they look murky being so dark.

I love the dedication, dropping this same day and all.

The casting on Suki is pretty amazing, she looks exactly how I would expect her to. Amazing. All around the casting is pretty great, but the makeup is only okay. I don't really like Zuko's scar especially, it LOOKS like makeup. Aang's tattoos are pretty great, though, especially when they're glowing.

My only issue is katara. She's a badass waterbender halfway through season 1 and she really kicks ass physically and vocally by the end of season 1. Who ever they have here looks way too soft to have a strong enough tone to her. I can see this goin completely different from the show.

It was a widespread complaint that the fire nation royal family didn’t have amber eyes and I honestly agreed just because of how striking and memorable they were. At least in the scene with Azula they are replicating it perfectly with the reflection of the flames! Gah it may not be perfect but they are giving this show some love and attention.🎉

The spirit oases is 100% inside in the show too. You see it from quite wide shots to show the only way in and out is 1 door way. There are four walls surrounding the entire oasis and it would’ve been covered in soot if it had an open ceiling of some kind. The greenery that grew there would’ve been cause by the presence of the ocean and moon spirits. Like how the banion-grove is so big is cause it’s made of spirit wilds
