I used to work at place with a similar uptick in late June and early December. Everyone hired is told that no long form vacations will be approved during those times of year. A day or two for a weekend trip. Sure. But if you want to go out of country or otherwise be off for a long while. Well. Then wait till off season when every body else in town does it. Sounds like this place should have a similar policy.

@Jack Russelle Lewis The Covid death toll as of a few minutes before I made this comment is at 6,620,348. The cases are at 641,666,268. Sure, it didn't kill most of the people that had it, but 6.6 million is way too many deaths to say it is "not deadly!"

@Jack Russelle Lewis An extremely infectious virus with a death rate of roughly 1.2% would be a cause of anxiety for many, and for good reason since we weren't all that sure as to how dangerous the virus really was. And, also, Long Covid sucks and isn't all that rare, so a "Low" death rate doesn't mean that everybody else who contracted it properly recovered. I can see why the OP was annoyed with the kids. By exposing themselves and others to the virus, they were putting people at risk of contracting it. If enough people or the wrong people caught the virus, it likely would have spread like wildfire, so a lot of people would have ended up sick, some would have ended up with Long Covid, and a few may have even died. Being anxious about people acting stupid during COVID times isn't silly, especially when the people acting stupid could then infect hundreds or even thousands of others if they caught COVID.

as the saying goes "fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me." dont fall ppls tricks a 2nd and especially 3rd time, most ppl deserve 2nd chances but its beyond extremely rare for some ppl to actually deserve and even improve on the 7th or 10th chance. :(

My thoughts exactly. I was waiting to hear the boyfriend's response to his mother in regarding the dinner date arrangement, but they didn't say. The mother is one thing as she can theoretically just be ignored, but if the boyfriend accepted the date then that sounds like a huge red flag.

Well they knew the situation, still valorate you as a friend instead of ditching you out too after you got fired. He did his job as well. BUT i won't said the same about the manager, since if i was all of your co-workers i would literally put him in the crosshair of everything and report every single "misconduct and errors" from the manager and try to get him caught in something illegal, since he is also subject to the same rules.

@@Slacker28 More like he either reported his friends, or his head would be on the chopping block. And it sounds like it wasn't a couple of isolated situations, but rather people just completely ignoring the situation. I fully believed the Laws and restrictions to be Draconian, but this was a prisoner's dilemma, they were willing to cause problems for OP, so why should OP try to cooperate with them? It's a bit like drunk driving, you can try to convince your friend to not do it, but at some point you'll (arguably) be willfully negligent if you don't report it. And you could be argued as having responsibility for not stopping your friend. Covid was _incredibly_ bad, ya the response was poorly thought out, but OP was in the thick of it and wasn't in a position to make a stand. Would YOU be willing to risk your current job and good future job prospects to defend friends who are actively trying to cause problems?

So in conclusion, I see the friends as trading their future liberties(the ability to finish collage and make good money) for their short term social safety(not getting called a stick in the mud or lame and getting kicked out of the social group).
