@@jg14gerhard_bar in terms of battery efficiency it has happened quite a number of times though. The SD835 was way more power and battery efficient than the 845 that followed it. That's why I always remain skeptical about all these 30% this and 20% that claims.

You shouldn't forget that Google uses HDR software algorithms in their Camera API which requires a lot of CPU processing and the low quality sensor they use need this processing to give good results and the CPU isn't powerful enough yet. The only solution is better camera hardware which they won't do much about because software has given them an edge

@Zvala iPhones are easier to use but you're dumb if you think that's the only reason most people use iPhones. iOS provides better integration with different apps and most apps run better and smoother, that's why iPhones hold value and get updates half a decade after their release. There are 5 year old iPhones that are as smooth as a new Android phone.

"better efficiency" is about more than increased battery life. It's about doing the same or more with less power. Bigger, higher res displays, fast GPU refresh rates on games and programs, faster animations, lower latency times for opening apps, and also lower waste heat production. If phones had the same clock rates they did 5 years ago, they'd last 3 times as long. But they would also be slow. We've made huge gains on all fronts with these new chips, much more than just sheer battery life

Coz they also increase other specs of the phone. Higher clockspeed, higher IPC, bigger screens, higher refresh rates, higher resolutions, more demanding apps, more sensors & more features. That's why you can't really feel big battery efficiency even on newer phones.

GPU updates via the play store should be similar to the improvements we saw on the Desktop when we started seeing more standardized driver models for GPUs. This should make it easier to support more rapid updates and maybe even longer update cycles.

I think that jump of 15 TOPS(trillion of operations/second) compared to 7 TOPS in AI is gonna be creating a really significant difference..... At least this time it's gonna be really significant in performance and efficiency over previous generations and I highly doubt they would be able to achieve something so significant in future generations in next few years. So, buying phones with sd865 may be the best option for longevity of smartphones imo.

@Happy 2 Trigger You seriously? A 5% gap? I guess processing power isn't really the focus of the SD865 but rather the 5G capability and the upgradable GPU. From where I live 5G is still a dream, but that upgradable GPU might make the gap wider with updates that comes in the future.

That's good numbers are really good, but do we really see that difference in day to day life?? I meam like What's the use if An Average User don't find any difference in these chipsets. A Daily User isn't going to test those efficiencies. I feel like this is nothing else than a Market Gimmick and a Third Party should really test these percentage claims other than the Company itself keeping both Theoretical and Practical usage and then Summarising it if it's actually worth an Upgrade.

The driver update is not as great as people think. It will lead to certain devices having issues with some drivers and some don't. You only have to look at the Desktop drivers forums to know that this is not a great idea for mobile where people don't have a chance to revert back so easily!

@@STeroidsnicca there are 2 types of 5G networks.. in which one is mmWave technology where the waves are in millimetre lengths.. they carry more data with less latency so question is does the QC SD 865 support mmWave tech

one of the main reason why qualcomm snapdragon is the only viable choice for smartphone fans, is because of the isp or (image signal processor), if you compared two phones with the same camera, the one with snapdragon will get a much better photo quality because of qualcomm's isp
