The 855+ took the shine off raw performance gains. 15%-20% boost without a dye shrink is pretty impressive. Now just look at Imagination Technologies, their GPUs have really improved a lot and they have announced hardware based Ray tracing for next year as well. Qualcomm used to be the leader GPU performance now Apple offers BEST GPUs in the market right now.

@Dalast1 Woke Mediatek uses Imagination Technologies GPU. Their Flagship Helio P90 uses a PowerVR. Others are using Mali. Samsung has just announced a deal with AMD. Which means SoC designers are looking for alternatives. And if Imagination's GPUs are any good they will incorporate them into their SoCs replacing Mali ones. Mali GPU's poor performance compared to Adreno counterparts is one of the main reasons why Flagships still go with Qualcomm.

@@wanmaziahahmad151 There isn't a massive difference from N7 to N7P, it's mainly front-end-of-line (FEOL) and middle-end-of-line (MOL) optimisations which allows higher clocks and lower power. Switching to N7+ is quite a difference, in a nut shell it uses a much sharper laser to make the chips this allows chips to either be much smaller or much more complex in the same area and thus increase performance by having more cores or cache etc. The power is also reduced by around the 10% mark. The major next step is N5P, this is pretty much ready from TSMCs point of view so its just getting chips designed for it. Apple's A14 will almost certainly be first to use it next year. This will offer a big leap in performance and/or power reduction.

@@wanmaziahahmad151 It's actually not easy to tell as no one makes the same chip on both for a direct comparison. The reality is there would be very little in it between the two companies. Some say that Samsung's gates might leak a little more and possibly yields are better at TSMC which is maybe why TSMC has more customers than Samsung right now but Sammy has some very ambitions plans to move to a 3nm All Gate Array set up in 2021 which in theory will be better than TSMC's 5nm but I personally would take this with a pinch of salt and believe it when i see it.

But in screen each pixel has to calculate everything individually and we have millions of pixels on our devices. So naturally, that takes a lot longer.

Maybe the A14 would also be a reasonable comparison for that, since it‘s probably almost finished as well, but we won‘t hear anything about it until it’s released in September and Apple doesn‘t talk about too many details on their chips anyway. But a technical comparison between the SD 865 and A13 would indeed be very interesting, or even the SD 855 and A13.

That is a little tough because NPUs is a bit of a "wild west" at the moment. Lots of claims about speed and performance, but no real way to verify them. I will include the quoted numbers, but they probably aren't worth much.

Sadly it's not so easy as that. It will take a breakthrough discovery of some kind of new process or chemical element before battery tech gets better. With the current metals/chemicals, there's a hard ceiling to the amount of power they can hold. It's already very amazing what these little batteries can hold. It's gonna take a major breakthrough.

Ricardo Daniel Rivera it is not even near to a A13 but think about it, Apple only makes few models a year so they optimize it to perfect their product, and this chip is used in all shapes and sizes so optimizations are not all that accurate since the companies uses different type of settings and programming to work the way they want for their phones. However it can define true power when it actually comes to gaming on the go, android does has its fair share when it comes to the applications that Apple don’t really give you the freedom nor permission.

SD865 will be powerfull than A12 Bionic in real world situation. But in benchmarks A13 is better. Also A13 is more power efficient than SD865.

Theoretically Adreno 640 from SD855 is powerfull than the GPU in A13 Bionic when comparing their GFLOP's and supported screen refresh rates. But in real world the games for iOS is more optimized than android due to defragmentation.

They need to have it in the first place before they could keep it. I would be more interested in 1080p@240fps real time recording and support for 240Hz FHD displays to match.

The A76 is the middle core in the Exynos 990, don't forget two custom cores.

Because the A77 cores would be better or compete directly with the custom cores. Since Samsung wanted a 2+2+4 design then each CPU is different M5+A76+A55. It isn't all about flat out performance.

@Claudio Villavicencio Actually Apple chips were made with the more advanced Samsung method, which Qualcomm switched over to on their new chips. Gary always quotes these speed estimates, but nothing counts until they perform in the real world.
