This is why this man has carried tennis for at least a decade into a higher level. Clearly one of the best players we have ever seen but his off court persona also raises the bar too. Identifies he "might" have been at fault, accepts it, adresses it and offers some constructive insight into his own perspective of the situation. The man is pure class and always has been.

I think Federer has an aura, part authority, part affability that makes it hard to be disrespectful to his face. That is not to deny that there is likely to be racism and/or sexism involved as well. Re his function as a role model for those struggling with pressers: while what he says is undoubtedly good and advice for a great many, it may be of limited value to someone struggling with serious mental health problems. We like to think that tweaking your behaviour and attitude can solve them, but that may not always be the case even though it is true that those who do overcome, say, depression usually show a lot of initiative in the process.
@sdemosi
@sdemosi 2 роки тому
@@Molybdaenmornell he's describing how he gained that calm. Federer didn't always have that, and had a reputation for outbursts as a young player, but he's considerably more experienced in life & competitive tennis than Osaka. 16 years on the tour is a huge learning period. For example the media created an image of Agassi as a brat, which Nike played up for marketing purposes, but the reality of the man was a kind an generous figure with a vision for philanthropic donations to schools for the underprivileged. Osaka is still a kid and will get over this hurdle.

The clown umpire today gave Roger the time violation after 18 seconds after the last point ended for Cilic to step up to the line and bounce the ball 10 times?! So if Cilic wants to bounce the ball 19 times (which he did on a few occasions) then Roger has 10 seconds to walk to the towel and get to the other side so not to delay Cilic's ball bouncing routine of 6, 8, 9, 12,15, 19 bounces. Exactly as Roger said in his press conference - he's not going to be rushed when Marin wants to rush to get to the line only to have him not serve and bounce it 10 times

@@oshinh4975 The umpire today gave Roger the time violation after 18 seconds after the last point ended for Cilic to step up to the line and bounce the ball 10 times?! So if Cilic wants to bounce the ball 19 times (which he did on a few occasions) then Roger has 10 seconds to walk to the towel and get to the other side for so not to delay Cilic's ball bouncing routine of 6, 8, 9, 12,15, 19 bounces. Exactly as Roger said in his press conference - he's not going to be rushed when Marin wants to rush to get to the line only to have him not serve and bounce it 10 times

Am not familiar with power tripping umpires. I suppose he can say I’m the first umpire to give Federer a time violation in his entire tennis career. I’ll remember this umpire as Emmanuel Joseph the Wanker. Even Cilic lost my respect after sheepishly replying to Federer’s Question “Am I playing too slow?
@utsav2776
@utsav2776 2 роки тому
So true. Cilic has played Roger so many times now and knowing RF's persona on and off court, Cilic should have been a little more respectful and mature. But maybe that's what separates greats like RF and idiots like Cilic. I think it must have been his strategy to hurry up Federer knowing that he was coming off a long injury break and is obviously old. So, maybe he thought that if he hurries him up and not let him settle, it might give him a chance. I mean for God's sake, Fed is not slow 😂. Have you seen the time Nadal takes to get ready... plucking out his undies out his ass. Cilic himself was bouncing the ball for an entirety before serving. Idiot. I think RF is the only guy who does things in the most fair/right manner. In the match against Cilic, he even gave him a point during the tiebreak when the umpire called it out. All others try cheap tactics against him to beat him and sometimes succeed as well. case in point - Djoker has taken medical timeouts several times against Fed at crucial points when he has been on the brink of losing and then after coming back, has dramatically turned the match in his favour and won it. Even Nadal has done such stuff. Now, some may claim that it is as per rules etc but you just know when a wrong is being committed. Isn't it?

@Scars.mp3 2 роки тому
@@yopermangarcia5232 of course but there’s also a rule that the returner should play to the server’s speed. So you have to get ready within the 25 seconds when the server decides to step up to the line. The point Federer is making is that he’s ready but Cilic in this case is just bouncing the ball and not really intend to serve and he gets tired of this and I can get that.
@-thisismylife-
@-thisismylife- 2 роки тому
the key argument is about the rule. lets say if 20s is the max time gap, if person A needs 15s bounces, does it mean person B (Federer here) needs to be ready on the line with from the 5th second? so person B(Federere) only has 5s to take the towel lol
