My husband (a round man with a ponytail) was once SCREAMED AT by an old lady who saw him heading toward the MENS bathroom, and thought he was a WOMAN trying to get in the men's room. My husband may be round, but he's also VERY OBVIOUSLY male (hard features and a lot of scruff). After a minute or two, she wound down, he said, "I AM a man. I'm going to the bathroom." And she stormed away saying, "well, you're wearing a PINK shirt!" This woman had looked past every detail of my husband and decided to gatekeep a bathroom over someone wearing a pink tee shirt (a MANLY MAN tee shirt! From the MENS department!😆). This is how crazy people are getting. ....since I am also round, and usually wear men's athletic shorts and tee shirts, I am just WAITING for the day some asshole to misgender me in a bathroom. I will make them regret it.... by destroying their soul with my snark.

Transphobia doesn’t just affect trans people but anyone who doesn’t fit the “typical” man appearance or “typical” woman appearance. Hell even just everyone. Read somewhere on I think twitter where some woman appeared a little more masculine (sharper jaw, bit of a deeper voice, not exactly curvy, etc.) and was just minding her business in I think a restaurant and got called slurs or was harassed by someone because they thought she was transgender. She was in fact not.

@Onnarashi7 місяців тому
There are weirdos everywhere. Most guys won't be like this, thankfully.
@SessaV7 місяців тому
@Onnarashi in all fairness to guys, I was an otr trucker out on the road when most of this was said. Some guys asked out of curiosity after they found out, some guys let it drop, others (usually the younger guys) got aggressive. A few actually threatened me with SA to the point where other truckers were worried for my safety and asked me to park my rig between theirs. It's like my asexuallity offended them on a visceral level. A lot of guys volunteered to be there if I ever decided to change my mind and try sex again lol. Didn't pester me about it, just made it known and let it drop, which I'm fine with.
@Onnarashi7 місяців тому
@@SessaV It's messed up that some of them got aggressive. That's very much not normal behaviour. I'm not sure what was wrong with them, but that's very bizarre to me. Maybe they got aggressive because they thought you lied because you weren't into them? Basically, you might've hurt their ego. Definitely no excuse, just trying to understand.
@SessaV7 місяців тому
@Onnarashi that's really all I can think of too, but I used to explain I was asexual in hopes of not making anyone feel like I was letting them down because I just didn't like them. I honestly don't like anyone or any gender or orientation, but there's no way for them to know that's the truth. Doesn't excuse them, but it might explain their actions. Honestly I feel bad for people who feel they need to get aggressive when turned down. Most of the time it's honestly nothing personal. The guys who got aggressive were usually young and attractive, so maybe I was the first time they got turned down? Now I'm off the road, working I.T., and finishing my masters in psychology to become a therapist. I still get some patient calls that are obscene (always from Washington state for some reason lol) that have infuriated my manager and team lead (I have a good phone voice). Honestly those calls don't bother me personally, because I know there's something not right in a person's brain to actually do that, but the idea of someone besides me getting those calls bothers me.

One time at work while I (female) was using the bathroom, a man walked in while on the phone with who I presume to be his girlfriend (or boyfriend? IDK). He was talking about candy or something as he did his business. Not sure if he realized someone else was in the room. When he flushed (still on the phone) and exited the stall, he must have noticed the tampon dispenser, because it was a that moment that he realized he was in the women's restroom, which he mentioned to the person he was talking to. He was laughing about it. None of this upset me. Not when I was assuming that maybe he was trans (deeper voice but in the women's room) and not when I realized through his phone conversation that he just walked into the wrong bathroom. Everyone's just doing their business, I don't understand the panic.

Our local big box store has the bathrooms located in same spot in most of their other locations but while at a different town my granddaughter was like hurry grammy I really gotta go and I rushed her towards the bathroom and walked in to a urinal on the wall. We backed out quick and got to the right one but in this location the mens/women's were reverse to the store we normally go to. It happens. But I also have encouraged my children and grandchildren to be accepting of all people and we have many LGBTQ family and friends and we don't freak out over who's in the bathroom. They are in there to pee/poo etc.. They ain't in there to peep at your privates. But good gravy a pastor recently got caught doing exactly that in the local big box store. So hum. The whole thing with the movie theater kinda gets me. Like yea, little children shouldn’t be exposed to that sorta thing unexpectedly, but I’m sure that any parent bringing their kids to a movie like that with the intention of raising awareness (which is what the guy said he brought his kids for) then they probably sat them down beforehand, had a conversation with them about it to prepare them, and made sure they were ok with it. And, in my honest opinion as someone who has a history with that subject matter, I think it’s a very good thing to raise awareness about it young. Not only does awareness help with prevention, but if those kids ever meet someone who has been a victim, then they at least have some idea of how to talk to them without triggering any PTSD they might have and making sure they’re comfortable (i.e. topics to avoid, maintaining a respectful distance, avoiding physical contact unless given permission, etc.). It’s an important conversation to have and maybe the parents figured that seeing a movie that addresses those topics could be a good way to introduce them to the concept. Either way, as long as the parents are ok with it and are willing to actually guide them through the topic, then it’s overall a good thing to expose kids to it in a healthy and safe way.

Seriously Weddings have gotten so crazy, back when I got married we had been together 11 years already and didn't really see the point nor wanted to get married but the families kept pushing it so we decided we more wanted the party/reception aspect of it we did everything right in the hall we set up the Dj and put a white lattice wall infront of him for the ceremony, there was a archway the wedding party walked up through the center of the room (a isle of roses) we had tables set up on either side, my in-laws made wine with our pics on the bottles and each table had a bottle of red and white and people sat at the tables drinking wine while we said I do, we still had formal attire like my dress was the most expensive I can admit that and most of our decorations were bought after holidays like Christmas, Valentine's etc some family pitched in with the midnight buffet because it was a evening wedding no dinner to worry about and anyone in my wedding party that couldn't afford their outfit (we weren't that hillbilly we did have the girls in matching dresses and the men in suits) but if they couldn't afford their outfits we footed the bill and nobody knew like one bridesmaid didn't know I was paying for another bridesmaid etc but we had a great wedding and grand total was $5000 the next day we had our bags packed and by the door waiting.. we did the gift opening and hit the road with my Sister, her husband and 3 kids went camping for a week and we were so excited to go we forgot the food and had to drive back home the next day to get it all but it was so worth it... I think people forget why they are getting married anymore

Interesting facts about bathrooms: There are some that are open 24/7 Some have doors that close and lock from the inside some have stall doors that close completely leaving no gaps above or below some are sound proof there is only one exit out of a bathroom and None of them have cameras A bathroom is NOT a safe space. It can be the most dangerous place ever because of these reasons. People that act like the womens bathroom is a "womens safe space" is brain dead. many assaults have occured in bathrooms before the lgbtq movements for basic human rights. You could get murdered, beaten, raped, etc in a bathroom and no one will find out until it's too late and the perpetrator is gone.
@vaporean_boylove.0w0837 місяців тому
I fully agree with this! Why would a PUBLIC BATHROOM be a safe space? The only bathroom thats safe in my mind is the one in your house!

I work in a call center where people can't even SEE me and one night a man on the phone was hitting on me and at the time I was dating my ex-girlfriend so I said straight up I had a girlfriend. His response was "Oh...that's kinda hot." and kept asking information on it. It was honestly disgusting and I wanted to go fight him.

I worked at a theater once. This couple brought their three or four year old son with them to Red Dragon. Yes, violent movie. However, if people know anything about toddlers and movie theaters they often fall asleep rather quickly. Some people came out of the theater asking if there was anything we could do about these parents bringing their child to this movie. Um . . . no. They payed for the child's ticket, they are accompanying him into the rated R movie. We can't remove them from the theater because you don't like that they have a kid. These people came out of the theater after the movie ended and waited for these parents to start yelling at them about HOW DARE YOU BRING A BABY TO SUCH A VIOLENT MOVIE. Starting to argue in the very small lobby. The toddler, by that time, was sound asleep on his dad's shoulder. OMG lady, it's not your child, don't worry about what other parents let their kids watch. I had a friend in high school who's parent's let him watch horror movies when he was seven. It'snot your business. And shockingly, some people can't afford baby sitters and go out very seldomly. So why deny them a movie night because they have a child with them?

Yeah, the whole house vs. apartment thing is why we bought a house. It's only 900 sq ft, same as the 1 bedroom luxe flat, but we pay less in monthly mortgage than we did at the ghetto apartments we _used_ to live in. Also, we got married in a park! It was beautiful, and we're quite happy. Spent about 1k on the wedding + honetlymoon total, thanks to friends gifting us the photography service and me making most stuff from dollar store ingredients 🤷♀️

I get what Sam and you are saying, but at the same time, I don't have the down payment for a house and no one will loan to me, so I'm stuck renting.
@OuchingTigerLimpingDragon7 місяців тому
@Absbabs88 Oh absolutely. My husband had been preparing for this for years. Since he was 18, pretty much. I just happened to marry the guy and lucked out. Plus we bought 10 years ago, so that helps. Market wasn't nearly as crazy. If you CAN, getting a house is a much better deal.

Is the Bathroom Discourse amongst transphobes an American thing, or do transphobes in other countries have similar complaints about public bathrooms. Like is it at least partially due to our bathroom construction? (The stalls not being floor-to ceiling and lack of true privacy?)

@xxlamortebellaxx7 місяців тому
I don't understand why people get so bent out of shape over who is using a bathroom and what they MIGHT be doing in there. There are only about 3 things someone goes into a bathroom to do besides actually reliving themselves and privacy is why the bathroom was chosen.

The bride one makes me sad, I literally went to my cousin’s wedding yesterday, it was gorgeous but I was gonna be part of the bridal party but then my cousin took me out because I stopped talking then went on to say that it’s a financial thing to have being a bridesmaid, went to the wedding to see her step sister as the maid of honor! My cousin freaking hates her guts and disrespects my aunt, I was kind of a stick in the mud about it

On the Sound of Freedom one...both are in the wrong. Sound of Freedom has been deemed as a very VERY damaging movie by specialists on human tr*fficking, specially when it comes to children. It was also produced by two very problematic people, one of whom is being or has been tried for the very crime they're supposedly denouncing.... BUT, putting your hands on someone isn't okay, at all.

Walking up to someone and saying anything about their gender or sexuality is super weird, creepy & inappropriate. My only concern with the woman in the video with the man at the bar that had a purse is that everyone, including the people working at the bar, were very obviously aware she had too much to drink. I don't know her and it's possible she would have been equally inappropriate sober, but for the bar staff to act like that is a bit concerning to me. They should have obviously cut her off before she got to that point. She was very visibly intoxicated which most likely means they over-served her. I've worked at bars and the amount of bartenders that over-serve people but don't want to take any accountability for it is concerning. I've seen people pass out, injur themselves to the point that an ambulance has to be called and the bartenders still act like it's all on the client.... You literally have to take a test to be able to serve alcohol which includes signs that someone should be cut off and suggestions in how to cut said person off.

Oh geez my mom did same thing and showed me on the car where the button was and that the gas was under the license plate lol. I was so mortified but if that woman was so out of it she was pumping gas into tge tire they should have grabbed her keys. Hell she might have early onset dementia she should not be driving. I'm not fond of men in the ladies room but not for any transphobic fears. I grew up with 3 brothers, been widowed then married, and have been in men's bathroom when the ladies was too full and I gotta go! In my school days visiting the boys bathroom was a constant dare. The bottom line is men do terrible things to their bathrooms that make them just icky. I don't want that gravitating to the ladies room.
@labachaterairlandesa7 місяців тому
FYI - They’re not men using the ladies room. If a person identifies as a woman, then they’re using the restroom that matches their gender. And have you been in a public ladies room? Women can be at least as nasty as men.
@avril.2277 місяців тому
No. This isn’t it. Believe me, I have had women roommates that have been incredibly gross. This is simply passive aggressively denying rights to those in transition, or identifying as another gender, in a public place. It is literally none of your business what is between their legs, or to judge anyone who uses a public restroom. “There are stalls”. None of your business!
