No matter what you do there will always be massive economic benifts to trading with other regions of the world and anyone who doesn't want to make use of those opportunities is frankly a moron. A country going out and geting a bunch of colonies and having a whole complex system of taxes and tariffs is still engaging in globalisation. You can't stop globalization any more then anyone could have stopped the industrial revolution or can stop automation. You can't stop things like this. The only thing you can do is have better systems of government and better economic systems so the gains form those things are distributed more evenly. What you can do is have an economic system that doesn't prioritize profit above all else. A system where the economic benifit of imagration mass or not (and it is FACT that imagrantion has economic benifts) could be yours and the down sides (which there are FACTUALLY faw) are mitigated by redistributive policies. The fact is imagrants aren't to blame for anyone geting fired any more than the individual robots are to blame for automation. The boss or the manager is always the one making the choice and in a capitalist system they have absolutely no insentive to make the choice that benifts you. In a capitalist system no one is entitled to a job, an education, or even basic rights like food water or medicine. In a capitalist system profit always comes first. If you don't like this fact then maybe you should choose to support a different system because even if all the immigrants were deported automation would still be on the horizon. Even if we got rid of every single imagrant big companies would still have massive monetary incentives to ship off jobs to other countries and they would still have alot more power than you to lobby to make that happen by getting rid of any annoying taxes and tariffs. That's not even mentioning the FACT that in a capitalist system there will always be an underclass that gets treated worse the same same way that monarchies always have peasants. Somethings needs to change systematically if you want to solve any problems. Pinning all the worlds problems on scapgoats doesn't actually fix things. Imagration doesn't have to be a bunch of people fleeing war and poverty who are only are only in your country because they have to be. It could be gradual mutually beneficial cultural exchange like what happens with countries that actually try to cooperate with each other instead of constantly assassinating democracticlly elected leaders in favor of dictators or using the coercive fource via loans those countries need to turn other countries into their personal sweatshops. If you want to fix things you need to go with more democratic economic systems. Some brand of socialism. If you don't like planned economies or the goverment having a hand in it that's fine since there's versions of socialism that don't have that. Market socialism is an option. No need to worry about "mass" imagrantion because now the decision making for companies is more in the hands of individuals who wouldn't choose to screw over the economies of other countries for short term gain because they would actually be effected by any negitives of any "mass" imagrantion.

Globalisation would be better if we had governments that didnt use war as a profit making scheme, we had less divisive nationalistic propaganda and clickbait media and we tried to find a compromise that suited the majority. The problem isnt globalisation itself, its the way its handled. Information and understanding for an educated evaluation of evidence should be our process, and that means basing an opinion on more than a simplistic stereotype like it means anything.

We are all born mad We wouldn’t be coming out. A large part of what the strike is protesting is the fact that employers are still making a lot of people come to work. Meat industries were recently given protections by Trump to keep them from being sued by unions for unsafe work environments due to Coronavirus. As restrictions lessen and the virus is better contained, I imagine these strikes may become more public, but for now it’s abt not going to work and not giving money to corporations to force them to meet the people’s demands.

Tbh, idk all the nuances of it, I just wanted to spread the word. Also, they’re prepared to continue the strike after the quarantine ends. From what I read, they have plans that could make the strike last into 2022.

I'm not an organiser, but it strikes me that using a grab-bag of disparate demands is a recipe for failure. The point is to make resisting the strike more costly than just giving in to the demands right? The more demands you add, the you need to do for them to give in.
