The US doesn't have nationwide microcenters. TN has an NFL football team a NHL hockey team and an NBA team but no microcenters. OH has 2 and GA has 2 for example. There are several states that don't have a microcenter. So if you live in TN like I do you would have to go to OH or GA. The Toasty Bros who live in Louisville KY go to one of the OH microcenters. If I stay in TN I would likely go to one of the GA ones. I say if I stay because I am thinking of moving to another state which while it also lacks microcenters is closer to OH. I am retiring and want out of TN but I would like to either get my pc upgraded or get a more powerful one. I have 2 pcs one an older Cyberpower that I bought at a pawn shop many years ago but it still runs albeit barely and a ABS from Newegg that was given to me as a present. I play games on the ABS but it is a starting to show its age and having issues so I would like to get it upgraded or replaced.

I build PC's and have worked IT for a major company. I had a build about 15 years ago when I was still new that I just could get to run stable. I didn't have parts to swap. I brought it in to the tech bar and they got the PC running. Turned out one of the RAM sticks was bad and the CPU was defective. They swapped the parts and charged me their minimum fee since the could handle the defective return. That experience turned me into a life time Microcenter fan even though I live an hour away.

You learn by experience to look for almost invisible signs of the history of what what was put in front of you to work on. I have done more than a few dozen computer build fault findings..... IF you want to be good at this you need to engage yourself in as many of these kinds of builds as you can find. You would think Geek Squad would tur5n out some SuperStars in this field.... I think Jay did splendidly in this challenge. Kudos for the non-spinning GPU fans, good catch. As an unpressured bystander when the utter lack of thermal paste was discovered and it did not appear that Jay checked the cold plate for the plastic I immediately said "Check the cold plate". The one solution I disagree with was the one fan not showing LED's, IMO, the correct solution would have been to disconnect all the LED's (hell, just cut all the led cables). :)
