I purchased the defender 10 x 13 tarp based off your recommendation. I can’t believe how well it performed. We went to Tennessee for a few weeks and first day it hailed. We had already put up the tarp before it stormed in a valley. It was super windy because of the valley. Our purpose was to keep our car under protection. It stayed up without any issues.

@@azclaimjumper I have a one touch open Jeep Wrangler and I didn't want to test its ability to hold back hail. We had about 3 massive storms said to produce hail. I was there for 1 and it held up great. I can't confirm the other storms actually hailed but 1 was good enough for me. it did great. I used peggy pegs to secure it to the ground. no trees used to tie up to.

I have been using the Defender 10x10 when out motorcycle camping to have a sitting / cooking area and have room to park the motorcycle to get it out of the weather. Had it for about 4 years now and no issues! Love aquaquest tarps. Buy once / cry once.

Jesus! That sucker is as big as my Living Room/Dining Room area combined! With the right bumpers, you could pitch almost completely on your truck. I thought my Safari 15x15 was big, but this looks really nice.

I got a Aqua Quest many years ago called the King Kamo, I think it is just a 10X13 Defender in Woodland camo but it came as a kit with 2 storage bags for the tarp and all the accessories. It's been such a great tarp I got two more, both Safari's in different sizes in "desert" camo. Never had a problem, excellent products. Thanks Luke, nice first look.

The stealth gray is the color of military ships, because on the water the it's hard to make out on the horizon, but you can use it to put tree limbs with leaves on it and if set up right it would look like a rock at a distance.

You cannot beat a Defender tarp , I have had mine for five years , and only use it in the winter , good and strong , very reliable , 216 sq foot .

I have a Aqua Defender 10'x10' I purchased back in March 2021 and was impressed with it so much, I then purchased the 15'x15' for car camping. They both are very tough and very well made. I'd highly recommend getting one if you're looking for a solid dependable tarp. They are heavy though, so not for light backpacking.

Great tarps, I think that their lighter duty tarps compare well with the best of the rest. But none that I have seen can compare to the Defender when it comes to quality, effectiveness, durability and versatility. I really like their color choices too.

for the cost and the weight, buy 3 20'x30' construction tarps. its not like you would be backpacking this item, so the slight weight difference is unimportant. i've hung a 20x30 over my entire campsite several times a year for 20 years. i build campfires under it. who cares if it gets some pinholes. i just don't understand the use-case for a tarp this size and expense.

Have the 10 x 10 Defender that I use in cooler seasons. Usually set up in a tent configuration. I have left it set up for weeks at a time where we live in the forest. The Defender is one awesome piece of kit👍

I have the Guide 10' x 7'(green) & the Safari 10' x 10' (Woodland Camo) both have a 5,000 hydrostatic head which is the same HH as Hilleberg tents. The 20,000 HH rating for the AquaQuest Defender series is as good as it gets. I suspect the entire youtube community will be eagerly looking forward to your future usage/reviews of the Defender series of AquaQuest tarps. Warm Regards from Reno, Nevada

I have the 10 x 10 defender that I use to make a front porch over my TETON Sports Mountain Ultra Tent. It works out perfect giving me cover and full height standing space just out my front door. Last year I was caught in a nasty storm and there was no problem. Most people use para-cord to tie down their tarps. I have found using high end wide bungee cords let my tarp move around in the wind without putting too much stress on any tie off points. I do use para-cord for the ridge line of the tarp. This set up keeps everything in place but flexible and able to deal with most anything mother nature throws at me.

Purchased the 10x13 based off your reviews for the company. The Defender is definitely just that, The Defender. First trip out in OBX a nasty storm come up. Had it tied from the camper to the truck with a slight wedge. It was the most relaxing time ever. Thanks for all you do for us.

I've been using the Defender 10x10 for two years now and IMHO is almost military grade in quality and toughness. As a result, I bought several of their drybags and a waterproof laptop case. I've not been let down ny these either.

Nice tarpaulin! People in Florida would love to have had that to put on the roof after hurricane damage. Can you imagine string two of those side-by-side 26‘ x 20‘ that would be a sight to see.

I have both a Guide and a Defender. I bought them around June 2022. They work very well. I went to purchase a Safari around July of 2023 and noticed that the price had *skyrocketed* since last year on their Amazon store. I was so surprised that I had to go back to my receipt from last year just to confirm I wasn't imagining the massive price jump.

I like he idea of an extremely durable 15x15 tarp. The traditional 9x9 has always been a little bit small for me when making tarp tents. If it has a strong center guy out point, it would make an excellent pyramid with plenty of room. Without the need for any poles.

I have the Defender 10'x13' kit that comes with boa straps and stakes. The tarp, straps, and stakes weigh less and pack up much smaller than my Teton Sports Mountain Ultra 3. I use the tarp and Green Elephant poles to make a sitting and cooking area outside of the tent. It's an awesome setup for truck camping with my dog. Complete shelter from wind, rain, and sun. Both the tent and the tarp have a lifetime warranty, which I appreciate very much. I am looking forward to more adventures when the weather cools down a bit. It's been over 100 degrees here for about 2 weeks straight and expecting 90s probably until September. Looking forward to seeing what you can do with a mammoth size tarp!

Great review. I've got two of their 10x10 tarps - a brown Guide model and a boulder camo in the Safari model. Both are excellent quality, and have held up well in all conditions.

I LOVE your recommendations and videos! Thanks! Ask: Video that will assist in choosing the correct size overhead tarp system for their camp style. Example: 8X8 A-Frame tent with "what size overhead tarp system" to stay dry and comfortable in a heavy downpour/snow-event with room to have a heat source/cooking area, sitting/standing area and/or overlanding or dispersed hike-in camping. I have a 7x10 safari and a 10x10 Defender. These were my first choice when looking for high quality tarps. Buy the best forget the rest. You can make a real serious tent with this large tarp. Canada.

Thanks for the good review Luke. I have been looking for a good size tarp to use in conjunction with my truck tent. Getting out of the truck tent and being able to immediately be protected from the wx is important. I may want to drop the size down a bit but this company sounds like the way to go. When I have enough money to spare, I do intend to purchase the 20x13 Safari. One thing I would do differently in the setup is use the poles on the next to last guy out point on each end and fold the ends together to form doors. This would also reduce the distance between poles and center sag as a result.

It makes sense. The corners can be lowered done on an angle and the edge could be lower to the ground. Setup like that provides a good protection from wind, limits the usable space for people. Also, it is possible to cover the car from the sun.

I got the Defender last year and honestly wasn't prepared for how thick/heavy it is. My needs are pretty simple, I should have stepped down to the Safari but it was $10 less so... The quality of construction is incredible though, the stitching is flawless.

I purchased a pvc tarp From the hardware store, 3x3 folds up small, it’s strong and ACTUALLY waterproof no matter what the conditions and costs a fraction of these ridiculously priced tarps … 🤷‍♂️ make what you will of that

the 3m x 3m (10x10 i think) version of the defender is the best tarp I've ever experienced. of course it's heavy but the weight is there for a good reason.

Nice looking tarp, I have no doubts about performance at all. Can you imagine trying to set this thing up as a ground shelter tarp ? I guess as big as this is you would have to call it a home!?!

I like all of the features that this tarp has to offer accept for the weight. If I was going to pull a weekender at the lake to camp I would probably use it but for hiking, no. Because if I was hiking, my weight consumption should be light not heavy.👍🙂

Do you think that with a little thought, folding, staking with the 48 tie outs and a few poles that you could have a tent shelter? With a tarp that is that big and that tough the uses are endless.
