Boats and trams are decor. You cant ride them. Besides that how short that 'short' loading screen is, depends on your specs of course. I am happy with the loading screens because the game will probably run faster but we wont know how long the loading screen will take until we know the requirements

appietjappiee I know people who had to wait like 10 minutes to load some lots/neighborhoods in TS2. For me, personally, my loading screens were all pretty short. I play TS2 a lot still because it runs so smooth on my laptop. TS3 kills it, lol. My sims in that game glitch out 24/7 and the game freezes like no other. So I agree with you about preferring it. But, yeah, we'll have to see how it all turns out when the game is released.

JayandNoPlay Except, in my opinion, what they're getting rid of are mostly minor (Except for Create a Style; I'm really annoyed at that), and people have been saying that toddlers and babies have been combined. It's more like deleting options for, say, music and applications that are rarely used.

I actually like the loading screen lots, that means less rabbit holes maybe. I would also be better for my computer because I don't have a high-end computer and all the furniture and content doesn't have to run simultaneously in the world. I would take the sacrifice for gameplay, The Sims 3 was a wreck on my $400 laptop and I'm not going to buy a $2000 comp. to play a game. Also, what I heard about the toddlers are that the newborn and the toddler are kinda going to be merged together, instead of having a useless newborn and then a toddler, like a 1 year old that still crawls. The create of style hits me very very hard too, I loved that feature, what if they don't have the color I need, but It's kind of like real life, you don't have everything custom made I guess. The pools weren't a big hit for me, It would be nice to have them, but in my gameplay, they didn't have a HUGE part, but I don't know why something that simple would not be included. I'm with everybody else, I am kind of hesitant.

The reason that they've put loading screens in place is so that heavy areas that otherwise would require a lot of power to simulate, won't take up power when inactive. In The Sims 3 the entire world was simulated, regardless of your location, this lead to a load of instability issues and overall bugginess, which only worsened as the expansions introduced new scripts. The trailers for The Sims 3 was full of sims, yet in the actual game, even with a very high end computer, you never saw more than a handful. If the game isn't focused on simulating unused lots, they can allocate that power to simulate things in areas you're actually playing, meaning that the game itself will run much better (in theory). Maybe now the sims I'm playing as won't freeze up and turn into statues every so often, so maybe they'll actually execute an action once I've issued it. Personally I'm fine with less features at launch. None of the games had that many features at launch, and while they might have cut down on features for The Sims 4, it most likely means that they've spent more time polishing on the underlying engine, meaning that future expansions and content could potentially be more advanced while still performing nicely, regardless of the specifications of the machine you're running it on. Heck, maybe you could even run The Sims 4 on a W8 tablet.

Private schools weren't in the game until the generation expansion pack, were they? And simmers have been making basements before the basement tool was available, I'm sure after a little practice people will figure it out and there will be plenty of tutorials on it. As far as cars not being functional, that is a little disappointing. I was actually excited for them to improve that aspect. Like make cars not drive right through each other like in The Sims 3, and boats would have been awesome, but we didn't have them until The Island Paradise expansion pack. I wish teens could have there own height. I mean everyone was talking about height slider/options. But after explanations, it made sense, but for them to have NO differentiating heights between age groups besides the obvious children and babies, is disappointing. Sims in my opinion is taking steps back. I don't even think it is their fault, I think it is EA who is forcing them to make the game accessible for a wider range of computers(which would be good, but not to this point, I mean my computer was a couple hundred dollars, and it ran Sims fine, it only lags, goes slow, or messes up because of other not related things I have on my computer and also using cheats just messes up the game sometimes.) But them making it more available will get them more customers and more money, EA doesn't care if it is a good game, I think Sims does. Hopefully in the future there will be updates for The Sims 4 that will make us happy again.

I don't mind about the models for teen, adult and elder being the same as long as they play differently and are fun. If anything, having the same model for all three would make it easier for the team to port all clothings for the three ages, so they would have no excuse if teens and elders have as little wardrobe variety as they do on Sims 3.

Here's a review, I've learned a little bit too much about the sims 4 and I'm telling you now, 1. $60 - $70 isn't worth it, that's a bunch of bull crap, $30 is more like it because they've taken away so many things, there's no pools or toddlers and you have to walk to the edge of the street and dissapear again like in sims 2 (which I hated) no cars or vehicles of any for that matter and loading screens and even though there's emotions and other new things, they've taken away the best things, And I honestly don't think it's worth it anymore. I'd rather buy more sims 3 expansion packs... but this is just my opinion.. maybe you'll like it.

Totally agree with you! :D Also I HATED the cartoonish look at first but then I thought about how the game was supposed to be FUN and humorous and i think the vibrant, colorful, cartoonish sims look alot more fun compared to the dull plain look in TS3..

Who cares change is good maybe they didnt bring back a lot of features but they created a lot of new ones and we all know thats the sims have big uptades so we can all be sure that these features will maybe comeback in an update or an expansion ... I think EA knows what they are doing and what their public want so i put my trust in them ahaha :)

Kai Zhang I'm probably one of the many few people who don't use custom content or don't really like including it in my sims games. Cartoony faces + realistic hair would look kinda odd. Then people would probably try and create realistic textures for the sims faces/skins/etc. To each their own!

They probably said CASt, which is short for Create-A-Style. This is where you get to choose any color for your sim's eyes, hair, and skin. Now you are limited to about 10 skin tones and I think 12 eye colors. You cannot use unique hair colors or unique patterns/colors for clothing any longer. This is similar to how Sims 2 worked in that they gave you different colors to choose from but you could not create your own. Unlike Sims 2, Sims 4 will not come with a Body Shop where you can easily recolor something to your liking.

Create a Style is missing because the designs they made effect the emotions. Using a depressing shirt, for example, coloring it yellow defeats the purpose.

But pools and toddlers aren't basic things, you didn't have toddlers in sims 1. And yes I know people do like toddlers, i like them too, but i'm sure plenty of people can live without toddlers and pools for a while due to all the new things they're introducing. It's like we don't know EA/Maxis, their recent game launches were a complete disaster and for example, SimCity looked amazing before it launched, and it was a complete fiasco after it launched. If you were one SimCity Pre-Order costumer, you would completely understand why there is so much criticism around here.

Zumorio And still, now there is no server issues and they launched offline update. Simcity will never recover, they decided to turn one complex city simulator into a childish, fun and easy to play game. I'm really afraid they are doing the same with The Sims 4, only in this case, Life Simulator.

The only differences i noticed between sims 3 and sims 4, build-mode, emotions and CAS. That's it. Same static movements, even if now you can "multi-tasking", not to mention a corrupt savegame when it gets larger with expansions, unavoidable.

It still isn't okay to remove an a life stage for a Simulation game especially the fourth game in the franchise, it isn't okay! I will say it's okay when someone from EA explains why they cut them out. Okay (:

Nope. They comfirmed that it won't be rabbit holes in the traditional sense. Instead were gonna see our sim walk off at the edge of the neighborhood, and eventually time will pass and they come back. It's full of bullshit scripted scenes. (the trailer)

Most of what you said is true and I agree, but it is open world...the world is in sections of 5 to 10 lots each, its only loads when you go to different section. ( not that this might change your mind )

Thats not an open world. Thats a district. An open world is like the worlds in the Sims 3

What i mean with open world is being able to see the whole town in bird eye's view and visiting the lots without loading screens. I think it was perfectly possible to add that in the sims 4, and that there was no reason to delete it. I don't see the point..

You're right about that and I know it makes you upset that the open world is gone, but I hope I can make you understand why. The open world and the fact that now the game has to load an entire town and all the Sims within it rather than just a simple lot is a lot to handle. Open worlds require the PC to be able to render so many pixels per frame rate etc. Because of that you can't really go into details without having problems like lags, bugs and an unrealistic time management (2 hours to take a shower and eat before work? Ehh.. Maybe if you hate mornings haha :)). When you have a smaller piece to take care of (a district) you will probably be able to do more and it will run faster, because you don't have to load the rest of the town too all the time, if you know what I mean. Remember the amount of time it takes to get into an elevator? Lol. Because of the districts the game will probably run faster and better on more PCs so more people will play it and that means more $$$ for them. I don't know though, these are my own thoughts.

You are right. I don't really mind open world so much...but is still annoying. Besides, i can't even buy the game because if have a MAC and there is no MAC version...Its stupid! They took off necessary content such as toddlers and pools, and added emotions, (which in my opinion are not as important since the sims are basically just pixels) If they wanted to make this game more enjoyable, i think they should've reconsider deleting necessary stuff before adding stupid things like emotions and pre-made outfits. Just an opinion, though.
