There is a saying in France: "Café boillu, café foutu" (boiled coffee, spoiled coffee) but then again we don't know how to make it cowboy style. just to thanks you for showing that bushcrafty little Bungalow tent. I'm a tarp, hammock, pup tent, lavvu person and I love the many ways this little bungalow tent can be configured. So I couldn't resist and got the backwoods super shelter 2.0 right from the onetigris site. I can finally give my modern Ferrino tunnel tent I hate so much, it takes dozens of tent pegs and it's always full of condensation in the morning, it's a pain to assemble... Thanks for the experiment, the video and advice. Merci.

Everything i hear and see about the bungalow is good and you have given it a really good test with all that rain. The side that turns into a canopy is such a great idea. Thinking of doing some camping with my Stepson and thought of having two Bungalows with the canopys facing each other forming a large sheltered area and now I feel I can purchase with confidence.

37 yrs ago, with a large group of friends we decided on a 2 night trip to Mt Washington in N.H. Being young and camping out of my car, I didn't take my "proper" preps serious. Tent, beer, food, beer, swimsuit (river nearby), beer and sneakers. Hot & humid July 4th weekend all but 2 of us attempted the hike, I went swimming. They returned earlier than expected because no one brought winter gear. It was 38° on the Mt.! My "leather" sneakers got soaked in the river, then melted near the fire! The next day after reaching that hangover status, we took the tram up Cannon Mt. to see the "Old Man of the Mountain" and all I had was flip flops. Not smart for sure. There was a large group of Asian tourists with cameras up top with us, and honestly their laughter and smiles made me laugh too! Here they had $250 hiking boots, looking at this stupid, husky, hungover white slob in flip flops, enjoying the outdoors. When we get together these days with coffee, we still laugh over it, but now their "kids" (in their 30's) laugh too. Great tent test, ty for these real tests. You stand out from all the other so called "product testers". Great job!

back in my day, when i got a new tent, i would just assume that the seams would leak so i sealed the seams before the first use. gave me a chance to practice the setup in my back yard and correct any problems in a place where if there were problems i was not in trouble.
@flyingtigers7856

How would you seal the seams?
@cimmaron50
@cimmaron50 3 роки тому
bottles of liquid sealer were/are sold at most sporting goods stores and included an applicator of some sort. you set the tent up and dabbed the sealer on the floor seams and the rain fly and attachment points. i believe that a spray version is available nowadays. still do that till this day and i stay dry even in a budget priced tent. many budget products are basically solid and just need a little love.

If you haven't tried cold brewed coffee I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by it. It takes a long time to make but it's relatively simple. Take a coffee filter and fill it with coffee but leave enough room to be able to close it at the top with a string, essentially making a huge "tea" bag. Then steep that in cold water in the fridge for at least 24 hours. It's the smoothest coffee I've ever had and is the least acidic way to brew coffee. Stay safe and keep the great videos coming!

I prefer the bungalow and having the capability of having the one side in a porch mode. Having a slight case of claustrophobia I tend to hyperventilate in enclosed spaces. No matter if it's raining or snowing there must be good ventilation for me to sleep in a tent. That's the main reason I hammock camp mostly all year round. You put a lot of effort into this project, Luke, and we appreciate it very much. Not too many reviewers would do what you have done. That story about your hammock collapsing twice was quite funny. My alcohol-related story happened when during a single part of my life I dated this wonderful girl and we decided to camp at the Oheo Gulch (often referred to as "The Seven Sacred Pools") on the island of Maui. I rented a Jeep, no top of course, and she asked if she could drive...yes, by all means, says I. On the way to our campsite I managed to down a bottle of wine that was poured into a 32oz nalgene bottle. We talked and laughed the 30 odd miles having a great time. Upon arrival my attempt to disembark from the Jeep made me look like I was trying to go for an 8 second bull ride and lost out big time. Yeah, not a good way to make an impression on your date.

I love my Bungalow 2.0! It has weathered much heavy rain, ice, and snow in the past few months here in western NC. In fact I was in it two nights this week in the Smokies. The first time it was in a rain there was a tiny leak where one of the screen tie-up toggles was attached, but a spot of seam sealer fixed that. I usually pitch with a ridge line and use my trekking poles to hold up the "porch." Sitting in my tiny folding chair under that porch fly cooking or just enjoying the scenery is amazing. If only I had a mule I'd get a large canvas "Baker-style" tent (which is what the Bungalow is modeled after), but for backpacking, it's just about ideal. Just never make the mistake of sleeping in it zipped all the way up or you'll have a condensation rain forest by morning.

I love waking up to the sound of wrens. The wren is your friend. My wife and I enjoyed two particular wrens who decided to make a nest atop a small tool shed under an overhang of our back deck. They raised 5 baby wrens and all of them made it. It was fun to watch them grow . . . rather quickly I might add and leave the nest.

I had my Bungalow 2.0 up for 3 days and it rained non-stop.... It was bone dry inside. Also, I just recieved my OneTigris Tigers Den, it's a larger version of the Backwoods Bungalow that comes with 2 additional tarps to use on the sides of the awning. I ve got it up right now and it's POURING RAIN so we'll see if it stays as dry as the Backwoods Bungalow. It's made from 210T nylon with a 2000mm hydrostatic head so it's technically waterproof but not as much as the Bungalow 's 5000mm head. Great vid!

Luke👍👍 Killer tent test, not only the testing but a camp out to boot😊 I was surprised the tents held up to the rain as well as they did, of course the wind wasn't that much of a factor...lucky. Driving wind has a much more detrimental effect combined with rain, but, this test did show some good results. I'm not a fan of cheaper, less expensive outdoor gear, had too many bad experiences. I've learned through the years to buy once, cry once😉 Great video again as always, thanks. Enjoy!

I've got the Bungalow and have used it on 3-4 trips and found it to be a solid 1 person tent. Only issue is condensation but that is to be expected with a single wall tent. Thanks Luke for the test in the rain cause mine hasn't seen much rain yet.

Same here with Michigan being in lock down for so long i havent had a chance to get out and put it to the test in rain. For the price it is a great tent and set up is easy. I like that you can also run a ridgeline and do away with trekking poles or sticks. I think it is a great design and it does build up with condensation when it is enclosed but i see that all the time even with pricey single wall tents.

One thing I keep noticing when I see you guys setting up tarps is that they're almost always strung up square, which allows for sagging in the middle and may potentially puddle when it rains, as well as allowing a lot of air to run underneath which brings in rain sideways and messes with flames from stoves and small fires. In the Phillipines I would tack down one corner of my poncho very close to or at ground level and string up the opposite cross-corner high on a tree or pole of some sort, then take the two corners on each side and pull them tight in opposite directions with 550 cord somewhere to a fairly low tie-off point. This creates two sloped eaves with good rain runoff, good protection from the wind, a high entrance which slopes gradually towards the rear corner for easy entry and exit, and lots of space and options for sleeping, storing gear, cooking and lounging. Additionally, being a poncho with a hood, I would tie it up vertically to a branch or other thing above, increasing the headroom and providing ventilation for the humid environment as well as for smoke from cooking in the sheltered area. This also allows for hanging a flashlight in the middle for illumination of the interior.. I could sit in dry comfort under this shelter and clean my weapon or chill with an MRE during a tropical rainstorm with no problems, and my other Marine buddies were soon constructing their shelters this way because it worked so well. All with just a military poncho and some 550 cord, we just fashioned our own tent stakes as needed or would tie off to tree roots, branches, and vines. Loved that jungle, it was beautiful. Just make sure you use a lot of bug juice for the first couple of months until the mosquitoes get used to you and they stop bothering you. Oorrah! By the way, stop boiling coffee, you scald it and it gets a more burnt, bitter flavor. You want to stop heating the water just before it starts to boil, stir in your coffee, and let it extract for about four minutes. That's all it takes to get maximum rich flavor from the grounds. This is not like making tea where you steep the tea in boiling water.

But i have to say the bungalow is the better of the two because you can also use sticks to pitch it and it has plenty of room inside, less chance for leaks or rain splash. One tigris makes some good gear for the price points! Stay safe man! Hike on!

Always love your intro music. Ishhhhh! I have never seen a tick up close. As a precaution, i treat all of my items and clothing with the Sawyer Permethrin. I brought several bottles from the USA. I believe this product is banned in Canada, I have never found one. It is true that being outside in difficult climatic conditions can make you feel miserable. But it makes you ingenious, stronger and ready for anything... well, almost lollll!

Merci d'avance.

Thanks for the great video on these two products. I have already chosen the bungalow. It should be here any day now. Shipping to Canada has been a bit slow because of the times we are in, but I'm sure it's going to be worth the wait! OneTigris seems to have a good thing going

Hey bro, great video. I love that you put these tents through their paces on camera to give a real review! I would love to see a review of the Lanshan 2 and/or the Paria Arches 2p. I have been on the fence about one or both of these tents. Take care!

Greetings from Ohio! I have that Tangram tent. I took it out overnight into Wayne National Forest. It rained for a good part of the night. Zero issues. I did pitch the additional rigging at the sides and at the foot and head and additionally scotch guarded the outside. I kept an eye on the tie-outs on the screen where you had problems and I made sure they were as horizontal as possible with the additional rigging. I’ve switched out the cording from the original to a thicker paracord so the cord stays hold better. I also switched the plastic corner hooks to aluminum s hooks. It’s a great tent and a cost effective option to a dcf tent.

Thanks for the reviews Mr. Luke! Mr. Luke, could you point out the outside of the tent where the water was coming through? Also, could you tell us if it is possible to repair it and how to go about doing the repair? Thanks again.

Amazing content as always, Luke! Given how much you love coffee, I am surprised you haven't delved even deeper into this subject. Taster's nasty and cowboy coffee are great, but there are a lot of other methods that can produce fantastic and, dare I say, much better cups of coffee. And when it comes to coffee, the key is to grind your beans fresh, and there is no way around that. I would love to see you try other types of coffee brewing (French press? Aeropress?) outdoors someday, maybe pairing them with a good hand grinder. Meanwhile, Strength and Honour!
