The coolest thing I've ever seen was something my mom did- Luminaria. Paper bags, sand and candles- a lot of work, but simple and elegant.

In regards to light strands. If half isn't working, try changing out the first lightbulb that's out next to the lit ones. On some strands 1 bad light bulb can interupt the circuit so the lights after it don't light up.

In Tucson there is a neighborhood (Winterhaven) that has an HOA requirement to decorate for December. They do a good bank fundraiser allowing people to walk and/or drive thru and see all of the lights and decorations. When I was little they would even fill city buses to drive people thru and had hayrides also. It was a crazy traffic spectacle and we all still love it especially now that it's mostly only walk thru nights.

First of all, thank you for the flashing light warning. If you're thinking about a Christmas getaway, but it's too late to plan for this year, plan for next year! It's probably a great time to get discounts. I like this type of video. Maybe pick something to do every month like the how it began/how it ended first day of school videos, Halloween costumes, people seeing snow for the first time, extreme tailgating, etc. Just fun things that mix wins and fails. My favorite house was the one with the inflatables for no other reason than the homeowner used strings of Christmas lights instead of plain extension cords.

I can't possibly pick a favorite. But I do have a question about the second one. Where do the homeowners put all those decorations when they're not in use? There's a house in my town that does a huge display and i have the same question for them. For years there was a family that used to set up a small ferris wheel on their property and would use their daughter's stuffed animals as the riders. I never knew where they stored it because they didn't have a huge property.

They sell tools that will test the individual light bulbs, fuses, and help you take out the burnt out or broken lights.

I know I’m late but for the first Christmas lights video, usually when people have music synced to the lights on their house, it will be linked to a radio station that you turn on in your car which is probably why the person recording was in their car. Used to have one where I grew up. Super cool!

Yes we knew about the fuses but if only half of your strand is working you replace the bulbs, starting with the first one that went out. That's why they come with extras. Merry Christmas.

I come to you from Boxing Day!!! Yeah...despite living in a northern state we haven't been getting much snow. We've had light dustings, but Christmas for us this year was 50. So you're lucky you didn't get a cabin up here to see the snow because some of the states that did get snow got them in blizzard like conditions

Knew about the fuses. I kinda inherited my dad's handyman genes. I fixed my 30 year-old microwave 3 times in its still going on lifetime, just by switching the fuse inside. I love that microwave.

If you have half of a String of lights, replace the first dead light with one from the extra lil bag of lights. A burnt out light will stop the flow if current. Hope that helps! This video made my day! Havent had the energy lately to go all Christmasy.

I really liked the house right after the balloon jungle. THAT was nicely planned out. Not sure about the candy shed, it seemed to diminish the magic somehow. Don't get me wrong, candy is great, especially if it's free! But it was just a bit too much.

Some of the things I thought while watching: Did drivers ever get distracted by the lights? Do neighbors ever have to warn people of flashing lights in case of people with epilepsy or other issues? I wonder how much heat is given off from all of the lights? I wonder what the creatures out in nature think?! Imagine being a bird in a nest in a tree with all of those lights!! Anyone else think these things or just me?!

I would just like to inform people that if you are going to do something as flashy as the first house where it was supper flashing lights be carful because while it looks really cool and stuff it could cause a medical issue for people with I believe is called Epilepsy it could cause them to have some problems so please be very careful with that I’m not saying not to do that but maybe ask you neighbors if it would be ok? I don’t really know how to go about it but please be mindful of it because my family and I were wearing some lights (like the ones they sell that change colors or blink fast) and my family member was talking to the guy next to them (we were at a theme park) and he was saying how he doesn’t wear and have them be on the effect with the blinking ones because it could effect people with Epilepsy. We hand never even thought about it because well we just didn’t but then we realized and now we are more aware is maybe the word but I just wanted to pass on the information to others to keep others informed!
