USB-C Power Delivery Breakout

You can add USB-C Power to your devices with the Adafruit HUSB238 Power Delivery Breakout.
This breakout lets you get up to 100W of power over USB-C for those projects that need more than 5 volts at 2 amps.
You can set the output voltage using the on-board jumpers or control it over I2C using a microcontroller.

does it already transmit power before handling out the voltage with the host? and, will it choose the next lower voltage if the host doesn't provide the requested voltage? is there a way to only have power output when the requested voltage is provided?

Nobody is talking about sending power in the other direction!! To make my example easy I'll use a phone as an example. What if you want to build your own phone charger that has USB-C PD?

I'm wondering that the maximum of 20V and 3A how comes together to 100W? The description actually says 20V 5A. Maybe that's possible over an I2C controlled board? I think it's a great board even with 60W!

Correct, if the board can crank out 5 amps, you can get 100W through 20 volts. That can definitely power laptops.

Great product, I'm sure there are many use cases for it...but I'd like to point out that if your sole goal is to "USB-C-ify" everything, you are just contributing to a growing e-waste problem. Don't toss working old adapters, especially on devices you may eventually pass on to less DIY-friendly folks. Use this board for fixing and prototyping.

Replacing a broken adapter with this is probably the easiest way to solve the problem, especially given how small it is, you can mount it inside or just make it part of the original cable. If anything, once I do make everything type c, I’ll just donate most of my adapter bin to a tech school or thrift store or something. I just hope they used reliable parts for this, too many horror stories about iffy cables and adapters not following spec.
