So many memories! I was born 1957 in Sweden, my parents moved from Finland to Sweden in 1955. Every summer we traveled to Finland with Silja Line or Viking Line. I remember Bore, as well as Skandia and Nordia very well. Being om the ship was an adventure for us kids. We were always dressed up for the trip. I also remember when our car was lifted onboard Bore, I was so scared our car would drop. I still travel to Finland a couple of times every year and always look forward to go onboard. Our huge Cruise Ships between Finland and Sweden are legendary. A continuous shopping mall, restaurants, bars etc. And some having a street in the middle of them. (Their time ended around 1995 when Finland joined the EU since the tax free benefits ended. Nordics countries have had our own 'free movement' for ages so all of us Nordics can visit each other passport-free but the tax-free era ended when we all joined the EU as all prices came to be the same.)

I haven´t been on Silja Line cruises propably more than two times. I usually use Viking Line if i go to Sweden. Still i love the cruises, sea atmosphere at the summertime, the food, the drinking and nightlife, mood and easy woman 😂. Damn that was nice to party on those cruises as i were younger. I still go time to time, but not so much party anymore. Im 43 years old and i enjoy more relax way eating more and drinkind less. Still nice to go everytime, but not so exciting that it used to be 😄.

Video idea: In 1994 one of these ships sank (MS Estonia). The ship was owned by Estonia when it sank, but it used to be owned by Silja Line. Only 137 out of 989 survived. This is a interesting but brutal story, and there are even some conspiracy theories to what actually happened.

One thing they left out of this video is that it isn’t all “luxury” nowadays, oftentimes there are very drunken party people all over the place. Still a fun experience.

Viking Line is a better cruise ship. Helsinki - Stockholm / Helsinki - Tallinn. Turku - Marianhamn (Åland) - Stockholm.

As it said we havent need passports between Nordic countries since 1954 and many times when i was walking Helsinki area i sudddenly decidet to go Stockholm so simple is that!
