So many leaps of faith behind all the fancy maths here - far too many to talk about the 'odds' here in any reasonable way. Think about this.. there are clearly more rationales for theism (not proofs of course) (a handful) than atheism (none really), but even that fact doesn't point to these 'progressive' odds. Steven Hawking thought there was literally nothing before the big bang, but you will find that most people in science who entertain this kind of reasoning for 'progressive odds' regarding the 'simulation theory' will generally favour more 'expansive' views in physics, probably including an interest if the various 'many universes' hypotheses. How about looking to integrate the various scientific approaches to this, even if it means having to do more maths with more odds? I would be a great way to avoid hidden bias and give some weight to valid and cogent scientific approaches that are perhaps a little less 'inclusive'. You might watch this particular 'theory of everything' climb outside it's own nutshell.

I think we need to do a lot more SETI before engaging in METI on any significant scale. On a cosmic timescale we are newcomers. If do find alien signals, this would tell us, among other things, that it is probably safe to signal ourselves, since another civilization has done it, probably for a long time, and has survived. Organizations like METI International should concentrate on formulating a message to send as a reply to a received signal, rather than actually signalling, at least for the time being. For now, we need to put our funding and energy into radio and laser SETI and other biosignature and technosignature searches. Until we know more about what's out there, METI is premature.

The whole "no information can be lost" never made any sense to me. several starting points can end up in the same end point. If position and everything is quantisized than the possible configurations are theoretically limited, not every starting point will end up in a unique end point, further making the whole theory nonsense.

Unfortunately, physicists tend to dumb down the idea that black holes exist now (in the present time). The phenomenon of black holes is, of course, well established by evidence and an accurate predictive model. But according to that model, they don't actually exist (where the verb "exist" is taken to be present tense). Formally, "now" is the 3-brane set of events that are simultaneous with an observer in the observer's frame of reference. The event horizon, and every within it, is disjoint with "now", and no part of it is simultaneous with any external observer. Likewise, there is no such thing as a particle crossing an event horizon simultaneous with an external observer. This resolves all of these paradoxes because no material ever crosses the event horizon, so no information is lost. In fact, the event horizon itself is perpetually in the future.

Saying that time travel and ftl are impossible means you believe in destiny maybe those lines of fate are broken constantly. You could have been on a path and switched many times without ever realizing it.

There is an alternative theory of black holes that leads to all the same visual and gravimetric results but dispenses with the (impossible) singularity and information paradox. It even means it is possible we are inside such a black hole. I prefer that theory over one that breaks the universe or what we know of it. Not sure why scientists would "prefer" to run with the unlikely theory (singularities and infinities) over a theory that produces all the same observations (from outside, at least) but didpenses with singularities and infinities.
