In the 1970s the only way that you could watch your favorite band perform was to see them live in concert. I don't ever remember seeing Lynyrd Skynyrd on tv. It's wonderful to see these people alive and moving, up close and in colour. When the radio told me that Ronnie Van Zant had been killed I drank a lot and cried a lot. RIP 🎉❤🎉

How awesome was that performance???!!! Makes this old fan still want to jump up and down and scream along! Have been a fan since the mid-70's.

Whats up with van Zant?? He looks like he has to take a sh*t. No movement, no stage presence, mediocre singing. The rest of the band is on fire.

This was the first Skynard song I ever heard. My daddy used to play it on his Martin D28 and I used to sing and dance to it having never heard the original. When I did, I just said thanks to dad for keeping the tradition of the original.

No one could play slide like Gary, Damon tries but even I could do better, but I’m no Gary

Who else finds this album cover eerie, they must’ve got the news rossington had years left to live around this time, yet timeless song and I’d rather listen to this at 24 than this other junk that’s around and popular now a days

Damn, I had always heard that Ronnie had a serious mean streak, but I didn't know it would be so obvious on stage. I would NOT want to be the guy he thinks cut in line in front of him at Mickey D's.

Saw em a bunch. First 2 times was the real band. Erie and the Pittsburgh. Cried a lot when the freebird went down. Saw the rest of boys quite a few times. Same area. There's a lot of southern Rock n Roll fans in the Pittsburgh area. Hence the album Live from Steel Town.

Right at the start of this song, a quick shot of new guitarist Steve Gaines makes him look like not just a band member but a regular old fan. Gimme 3 Steps also includes my all-time favorite line of any song by any band: "Gimme all my mules down here and kick'em one time!" It's not even an official part of the lyrics- doesn't appear on the studio version- and Ronnie says it a little different sometimes from concert to concert- but it's always such an infectiously fun moment...

Allen Collins just tearing up the guitar makes me smile every time. Rest easy.

Ronnie sounded good live and on record. The whole band was so damn good live. Those were the good ol days before all the tragedies.
