If it ends up being better than the 7900 xt which I also doubt , that would be great value . From the leaks that I am seeing the only crazy Nvidia card will be the 5090 , everything else will be super lame like it was with the 4000 series . AMD is going for the midrange market , it is clear as day and there they will crush Nvidia but at high end Nvidia will be the way to go if you want to burn your valet .

I never saw any first party claims of doubling perf. RDNA 3 was supposed to be 54% faster perf/watt, per AMDs advertisements. They then gave a 355W spec for top end RDNA3 vs 300W for RDNA2. So that maths out to 82% more performance claimed from 6900xt to 7900xtx. It ended up being like 40% faster.

Lol, first of all, no one k ows for sure. But with leaks and booost clocks.....how do you say that? There is no performance chart, just what's inside. There is a ton of what makes up performance not just core count. Efficiency is king when it comes to gpu and cpu. If cores are not efficient then lower performance. So indeed they WILL be faster by all accounts. Efficiency and power draw and core speed is key.

It's not making stuff up really. He's making predictions based on rumors and leaks. Honestly i don't think making predictions based on rumors is accurate because its not been accurate in the past but that's all it is. I personally don't think these predictions are correct but i also don't think he's too far off based on certain info that's circulating around. I don't think amd will be winning this next launch either (especially since they are always behind on drivers at launch) BUT i do think that this next gen will increase their market share by quite a bit. Nvidia will still dominate the enthusiast GPU's but AMD has generally always offered better price to performance and this next gen looks to be more so.

Definitely wait and see, AMD dropped the ball last time. Im not too concerned about RT until 9000 series. Will definitely be more prevalent in games in another year or two. Depends largely on how RT compares to Nvidia when I'm shopping I guess...

I've never waited for a GPU generation before now, so maybe my pattern recognition is overactive, but I think 8000 might be an 'upgrade' the same way the 7000 series was.. One's good enough, and theres no point waiting another year or 3 when decent discounts are popping up here and there already.

If rumors are right Rdoa4 will lacking even more. We know from 7700,7900gre that theirs memory bandwidths are enough. 8700 should be 192bit gddr6 at 20gbps, 8800-256b gddr6. Perf will be 10% less as mentioned in table. 8700/8800 will be direct competitors of 4070s/4070tis at lower prices -400/500 vs 550/780

I don't think AMD should really try to compete with Nvidia, the smartest thing to me would be if they just focus on making the best mid range or lower high end range one, but for a lot cheaper, just completely crush nvidia when it comes to price per FPS, as long as they can up their game on upscaling and maybe some raytracing i can see them dominate the middle part of the GPU market.

That seems like it would be the smart move. Nvidia have the ultra tier cards, but most people don't want to pay over $1000 for a gpu. The most popular card on steam surveys is the 3060, so just focus on the $200-600 gpu range.

The 7900xtx is like less than 4% slower than the 4090 at 1080, 15% slower at 1440p and 18% slower at 4k. RT is about 20% slower...yet it costs like 60% less. Its clearly a better overall choice.

@@Uaeriop I'm not making it up...the 7900xtx has seen vast improvements with driver updates...a few review sites did updated driver tests and at 1080p, performance was more or less equal...1440p and 4k were also vastly improved. The only thing they're losing by a decent margin in is RT. AMD gained a good 15% improvements via driver development since launch. That's probably why the claim of 2x performance on RX8000 is being discussed.

The only reason I run a rtx card is for the AI performance (I use stable diffusion and Local LLM when not gaming). I was happy with my 6800xt for gaming. If next gen Amd can offer the same tensor performance as my 3080ti in Ai applications or better, and better gaming performance, Im In.

If true, AMD might be hard targetting budget cards that beat 3/4 of all Nvidia cards out there. If RDNA RT is vastly improved as we are led to believe from the PS5 Pro news and if they slap lots of ram on these cards AMD might really push gamers to replace their Nvidia cards for gaming. Nvidia won't care, gamers now only gives 5% in profits compared to 95% for AI.

I thought NVIDIA secured the first production of DDR7 for mainstream use. That's what I heard a while ago. I also heard AMD was going with DDR6 for the first round of Radeon 8000. Did all this change all of a sudden or was it all wrong information to begin with? But it does seem funny that each time a radical leak about NVIDIA happens, out of the blue, a equally radical leak for AMD Radeon happens.

We should all hope AMD can pull this off. It'll give the GPU space some much needed competition and force Nvidia and Intel to compete better. Consumers will get the benefits of better pricing for more performance. These are the same rumors that have been around for a while. AMD is not competing for the performance crown with RNDA4. RDNA5 is when they'll try to release a top performer due to design challenges with chiplets.

While price to performance is a good jump, the lack of an 8900XT is pretty disturbing. They're not even targetting current generation performance from their own brand. Great for midrange buyers looking to upgrade, but pretty much useless to anyone with even 3080/6800 last generation stuff. That'll be 2 generations higher end AMD buyers have basically been told don't bother, maybe next year.

If 8000 series is gonna be built on 3nm, that easily alone gives them a 20-25% boost without having to do anything from 5nm. If they've made headway on MCM, 60% sounds more in line. The 80% claim will undoubtedly be for a few titles, not the average.

This is true when comparing N3 against the base version of N5, but N3 isn't actually much faster or more efficient than N4P, it's just a lot denser, which makes it harder to cool. RDNA4 is monolithic, not MCM.

Thats a nice dream my friend and it would be possible BUT they won't, that would be giving us too much value. It would make the RDNA 4 series a kick ass classic graphics card. If this version of the 8700xt is real and it has 16gb of GDDR7 ram I would sell shit to buy it and I would be happy for the next 7 years. I am running on a 1650 super (which was only supposed to be a place holder but then health shit happens). A card like this for 350 USD max would be perfect. Moores Law is dead said only nvidia is ordering GDDR 7 this year, not AMD. If this is wrong and we get GDDR7 I would flip for the right price.

they should just focus on beating the 4090 for less around 700 dollars, if it does that with no upscaling, AMD is prepared to go up against whatever midrange option Nvidia throws at the market next gen, because we know the 5070Ti will basically perform like a 4090 with 12 gigs of vram if not 16 gigs of vram, they did the same thing with the 4070Ti, it performed like a 3090Ti for less than half the price, and who knows maybe Nvidia will give us a 70Ti again for 600 dollars because of it, and even still, you'll be paying less or more for vram which isn't a bad thing either because both will have AI upscalers built in. If the 8800xt has 24 gigs of vram, with an AI upscaler that also can be used with FSR that works, its a done deal, People will be buying this thing like crazy with good driver implementation, there's no other argument for which one to pick if you're just an average gamer, you will finally have options that won't lock you out of a brand specific feature that's in almost every game that is the same as everything NVidia has and more, but it needs to work. if AMD doesn't have a graphics card that beats the 4090, next gen, it will look terrible once Nvidia launches the 5000 series, AMD will look like they're 2 generations behind.

I heard a rumor that Nvidia is coming out with wireless 6000 series GPUS in 2025 and you dont even have to buy them, just $9.95 per month and you just download it over the internet.

So, the top skew of this gen won't be able to beat the performance of the top skew of last gen. I get that it's going to be cheaper in term of frames per dollar, but I literally won't be able to buy better total performance than last gen no matter what I want to spend. Why am I supposed to get excited about this? I'm all about making it cheaper, but I care more about constantly raising the bar on performance.

I've learned to not take ANY of amd gpu leaks seriously after the huge disappointment of the 7000 series. Everyone was leaking all these great things and basically NONE of the leaks were true

yeah the CU's don't make sense for performance hes saying its going to be at. I could believe the 8700xt being at the level of 7900 GRE but thats only like 10% not 23% faster than the 7800xt. The only thing I hope for is that it actually comes in at that price or lower because a 7900 GRE at $399 is acceptable imo.

Why? Most games don't need that much compute power, they need more TMUs and ROPs. Unless you use your GPU for workstation tasks, there's basically no benefit to increasing CU counts relative to ROPs and TMUs any further. Each RDNA3 CU already has double the compute power of an RDNA2 CU at the same clock frequency.

I call bs. The new cards will come in $100-200 cheaper than their RTX 4000 competition at best. So that 8800 will cost $800 in the best case. As long as we’re just making up numbers- mine at least matches the reality of GPU pricing. The only way that 8800 sells for less than 799 at launch is if the RTX 4080 super drops to 799 at the same time. Then o think maybe you’d see $50-100 cheaper than that. Maybe.

it's possible that AMD will be able to trade blows with the 40-series, but then Nvidia is going to release their next gen, once again leaving AMD far behind 🤷🏻♂ but that's *only* in terms of performance/features. I'm sure Nvidia will price their cards so poorly this will automatically give AMD a fighting chance… which AMD is going to waste by trying to price-match Nvidia.

I’m rooting for AMDs success in the next Gpu generation. Ngreedia is more interested in making guys for tech companies then making affordable ones for their core gamer costumer. AMD hasn’t turn their backs on the gamers that built their house like Nvidia, who’s been trying to squeeze us for every dollar they can for less and less product.

You don t get it the overall quality with the rtx hdr is much beter when you play e sports you wan t to see you re opponent clearly and early the difference is huge esspecially if you turn the mid greys to 100 %. Dlss is the only reason I would buy Nvidia right now, so if they make ai upscaling that's at least close to dlss and sell gpus cheaper it would be.... still too slow, nothing to compete with 5070 ti and above Rdna 5 must come as soon as it's ready

AMD has nothing on DLSS 3.5 and nothing suggesting it'll change any time soon. And we can be 100% sure that 5000 series will have updated FG and some new feature (probably related to use of AI for NPCs).

Dldsr is amazing. That would be another reason. I want to like AMD but if the 7900xt is $750 then they just helped sell a 4070 ti super for $800.... so stupid, at $650 7900xt would be a no brainer
