Megan was under a microscope anytime she so much as looked at her own baby, 3 sets of highly judgmental eyes on her,all hoping she'd fail, thats a tough crowd to impress.

I had my oldest at 18 and I remember my mom being patient and kind, helpful and teaching me what to do and how to do it. Unlike this mother, my mom would have never staged an intervention on national television, instead of just helping me. Honestly, there were quite a few times when I felt like a bad mom, but my mom helped me instead of telling me that. I certainly made some poor choices and wasn't sure how to do certain things and there were plenty of times when I was just so tired that I couldn't even think and felt like a failure, like the time my oldest fell off my bed when I nodded off holding him. For those times, my mom taught me to be kind to myself, give myself grace and never be afraid or ashamed to ask for help, for my sake and my baby. I'm so glad to have had the mom I had and I miss her everyday.

I agree. That little girl… ooh. And her mama seems to push her to getting up and leaving the room on purpose but gets mad bc she takes her baby with her. She wants her daughter to go away but the baby to stay and it’s so messed up. Especially bc they would complain if she didn’t take him with her too! I could NOT live there with them. Ready or not I would be gone. I think personally that I would be and my child would be better off camping then to be put thru that mental torment as a new mom and overwhelming doting to a young child. They stopped caring about their daughter the minute she brought that baby home. Hes a “redo” or a replacement to them.

The way he handled this young mother was perfect. The parents seemed to think that this magical “maternal instinct” hits you as soon as you give birth and that’s just not how it works. Going through pregnancy and birth at ANY age and stage of life is HARD. Everyone underplays pregnancy and birth and the physical and mental toll it takes on women. Normalize mothers needing help. Quit expecting women to recover from a serious medical procedure and care for an infant perfectly, then degrade them when they fall short of a very difficult challenge. Praise more than you criticize.

In Germany we have mother-child homes where teenage mothers live in a kind of shared apartment under the supervision of carers and where they are taught to take proper care of their children and the household etc., get a school diploma and learn a job/go to university. Teenagers who have children should no longer live with their parents. The parents will always know everything better and there will always be conflicts

@Picco2008
@Picco2008 3 місяці тому
@@arrock8190 If a teenager becomes a mother and continues to live at home with her parents, there are ALWAYS problems. This is simply because the girl's parents want to continue raising her and interfere in everything that concerns the baby. The girl is now a mother herself and every mother has her own parenting style and wants to do things the way she thinks is right. These collide with each other and cause problems. When a teenager becomes a mother, she needs to be professionally guided in caring for the baby and learn good, professional parenting skills WITHOUT the emotions of her own mother. WITHOUT her mother forcing what she thinks is best on her. The girl has to find her own way. You can't let a girl be a mother and still want to raise her yourself and constantly interfere. that doesn't work! That's why young mothers and their children are better off in an institution where there are people who help her in everyday life, support her, give her information, show her the path she has to take to become independent (education, studies, career, finances, etc ) but where love and emotions are not a “disturbing factor”. Young mothers need the love of their parents WITHOUT the burden of the parents taking responsibility for the baby. WITHOUT conflict about what your own mother thinks is right in relation to the baby. We all learn from our parents' mistakes and therefore want to do things differently when raising our own children. Teenage mothers don't get the chance to do this if they live under the same roof as their own mothers and the mother doesn't yet see them as an independent adult person but as a child! this ALWAYS leads to problems, stress and damage to the mother-daughter relationship

@frankiejackson4960 That's why it's so easy to be a man, in my opinion. They can get away from responsibilities. They can knock up hundreds of females, can slack off on their job, can escape being a parent, can do a lot of things that wouldn't make them any less of a person where as in women have to work hard or else people will ridicule women even more. Women are minority. Men are dominant, especially white men. They can do whatever they want. Be as selfish as they want, and men are still dominant. Women can't make mistakes. And when we do, men give us a hard time. Sometimes I wish I can be a man. I feel my life would be 50 percent easier. Men come with baggage. But none of their baggage is anything close to what being a woman is.

We want to be good parents 😢❤ it really hit me hard when the sister said, she don't love her baby enough, because that couldn't be further from the truth. Matter of fact the deep love she has for her baby, the plus hormones, & chemical imbalances etc. She likely worries about everything under the sun and feel defeated as a mother. People will say Dr. Phil is exploiting this girl, but I will say this I will go to any amount of public shame to get help for chronic depression and anxiety. I have to say, being a young mom is hard. Being a young mom still living at home with your own parents, is harder. The help is appreciated, but having people down your throat and trying to PARENT your new child is frustrating. It seems she DOES want to try and wants to be a mom, but the family is making it hard for her. Of course they want to give their opinions and help the baby. Everyone wants what’s best, but once a girl has a baby she needs people to lay off a bit and let her parent. It’s hard with others hounding you and trying to change what you’re doing. Her parents are her parents, but she is the baby’s parent and Megan’s parents need to understand that.

I got pregnant with my first while on the pill, taken same time everyday. I went on the Depo-shot that was supposed to last for at least 4 months, got pregnant after 2 months. The doctor argued with me the first time, there was no way I was taking the pill properly if I was now pregnant (didnt take antibiotics or anything that may interfere) When I showed up pregnant on BC the second time she didnt argue…. A baby is not a toy you can put on a shelf, take down and play with and put back on the shelf. As the parent of the young mother, I would make her take care of the baby 24- 7. While being watched...but not helped. She must feed the baby, change diapers, have a schedule, bath time, play time, nap time, wash her and the baby's clothes, and still do chores around the house, help with meals, clean up after her and baby, not nap when baby is awake, keep her own room tidy...these things will prove that she can live on her own with a baby. My brother at 16 wanted to move out..dad told him get a job, save money, get an apartment when you have enough...live on your own a month. To prove you can do it. And he did, plus he took training in 2 courses. So he could get a good job.

Fun not in front of them, she caught them on the phone, talking to her family members on the phone! Why you would do that is just so, ridiculous! Then, on top of it the things they said to her first, especially the fact that the dad called her a hoe, that is so, just a uncalled for comment! The mom said, when, they were on the phone she wasn’t supposed to hear all that! Well,,,,,,,,anyone knows you can hear people talking on the phone through the whole house! So, your daughter tells her parents that she’s pregnant, something you should take a minute to soak in and, figure out the next steps within just your own family for awhile! The thing is the parents can’t even behave like parents because, the minute their children tell them something in confidence,your turning your back on them and, calling up other family members and, bashing them, they are lucky she trusted them enough to tell them! You can see it just by looking at her mother, her mother seems to think she’s holier than now!

At 18 it is probably best for her to move out. If she were younger it might not work but she seems to be perfectly capable. It is hard on her and her parents right now. I imagine as a young person once she is on her own she will be forced to take care of the baby and will do a good job. That will allow the parents the separation to come to terms with two things 1) they can accept their little girl is now an adult. She may not be doing it their way but she needs the room to grow and they need to let go. 2) They can become Grandparents and quit trying to parent both their daughter and Grandchild. I would say they all love each other and just need to come to grips with these unexpected changes.

I had my oldest son sophomore year of college. My mom was so critical of my parenting that I left and moved in with my boyfriend his dad. He was an engineering student and was just as broke as I was. We put him in the college daycare program. He was farther along in college than I was. I worked full time and went to college part time. He went full time to college and took care of our son. We were married right after graduation and have three boys now. Our oldest son just graduated college last year.

I’d be curious if the new car was an actual new car because if they had enough money for that, then they probably could have got her a used car and paid her first and last month at a nearby apartment complex and perhaps set up a schedule of when they could babysit …including maybe setting aside one night a week for “Aunt and grandparent night” so the girl would have one night a week to rest as a single parent.

If the parents knew she was cutting herself when she was much younger, why in the hell didnt they seek help for her?! It might not have prevented the pregnancy, but she would have been able to cope better with life and it would have set her up for success instead of failure. I feel sorry for her, and the fact shes being bashed by her family, the same ones that care about her...i can only imagine the mental and emotional torture shes going through. I also think that people need to stop calling people who are 18yrs old children. They are legal adults wether their brain has matured or not. I feel it gives them a way out to "misbehave" or take advantage of the situation because they are constantly being told they are children, so therefore they will "act" like children. You cant mentally and emotionally abuse your child and then wonder why they are doing the things they are doing. It sets everyone up to fail, not just the mother, but the whole family. I hope she got the help she needs and i hope her and Gabe are thriving and are happy. Good luck Meghan, you got this!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I was considered a statistic. I was a mom at 17 and again at 19. I graduated school and attempted college but it wasn’t for me. At 25, I started a mobile mechanic business and now I run/operate a highly successful mobile business and recently opened a shop. I have 2 more businesses I’m working on. I became so much more than my teachers ever anticipated as a young mom. The amazing thing is, I had the energy to do it all. I could be a mom all day, go out at night with friends till 4am (kids with father at the time) get to work at 7am, learn a new skill/build my career and balance it all. Let me be very clear though. I didn’t have family support and I ran from an abusive relationship. At 24 my ex went to jail for abuse and I never let him come back all while being 2 months behind on rent. I worked my ass off to keep a roof over my kids head and still found the time to build a business. It can be done.

Wow. She’s 18 and has never lived alone and had to be responsible for anything. The dynamic in that house is that she’s a child-it’s her childhood home. I was 31 when I became a mother but it would have still been hard if I had still lived at home and had my mother breathing down my neck and my little sister trying to make me look bad so she could elevate herself. I’m not saying she’s the worlds greatest mother, but no one is going to thrive in that dynamic.

I had my oldest at 18, yeah it was hard, but the parents need to face the fact that it’s immaturity. Just because she has a baby doesn’t mean she will grow up. It’s like they thought it would happen over night. It took years for me to understand how serious the task is of raising your child/children. Thankfully I wasn’t alone, but had a great support system. Also super thankful for the grace my children give me, and we talk all the time about how important it is to wait to have children until you can understand the responsibility, it’s takes selflessness, and if you are so consumed with what you are missing out on, you miss the life you have created. I hope she is doing better 🖤

😅as I was growing up we were not allowed to date as our immigrant parents made it clear that they brought us to Australia to ensure we received an education before all else. Living in a small coastal town we saw so much..MY 2 best friends left school at 15years of age. I missed them..the laughter we shared...one was told by her parents that she was 15 therefore she had to leave home and go to the city to get a job. I didn't see her until she brought her baby to show me. I didn't know how to carry a baby safely...she was half my height....and so beautiful. My friend was 16 or approaching 17. A similar experience for my other friend a mum and a teenager. I would see other young teenage girls pregnant and heard others in our shop talking about abortions they wanted or had... I attended a catholic school where our nuns instilled in us the value of human life and that the rules our parents insisted on where the best for all. Dr Phil I remember saying children should not be having children. I saw young girls who had no idea of the responsibilities and fatigue that a baby brings,,,,all these 50 years later it still happens. The joy that our beloved gifts from our loving Lord bring into our lives....but it isn't easy....thankyou for addressing the problem in a holistic way . God bless all so that all can be happy and know love. Archangel Gabriel protect our little wonder.

I was 17 when I had my first baby. Got married and moved out. So I did it mostly on my own. Not much help from my husband. Moved back home at 20 with two kids. Worked the night shift so my parents could watch over the babies and saved enough money to buy furniture and get an apartment. Whichever to day shift and got a babysitter while I worked. I cared for my own children and cleaned my parents home during the day and worked at night. They were very supportive of me. They watched the kids while I went out with friends on weekends. I tried to have the kids in bed before I went out and made sure to get up with them in the morning. I had a good family.
