I used to spend so much time on XGen Studios as a kid. Stick Arena Balistick, Motherload, Stick RPG, etc. So many awesome memories.

Dropping down into the mineshafts you dug is incredibly frustrating in this game, since your horizontal speed never seems to come to an absolute halt, so during any drop into them, your ship inches very very slightly into the horizontal direction that you last moved toward, leading to you sometimes taking completely unexpected falldamage when the game detects you to have hit one of the ground tiles surrounding the vertical tunnel you intended to drop into.

Didn't even know there was a final boss lmao. As a kid I never had the patience to even get that far down

I'm actually amazed that this game can be completed in 15 minutes. Why was I so bad as a child

This game dude, holy shit, I couldn't wait to finish school to get home and play this game. The messages you would get from Mr. Natas and the miners and shit creeped me the fuck out, and I was so excited for what I would find. Naturally, being allowed very little time on the PC and being shit at the game, it took me ages, but when I finally reached the bottom, after all the speculation and creepy messages, it blew me away man. Love this game.

Dude, falling straight down a dug hole after going back down from the surface would literally scare the sh** outta me, cause all who played this game know that not even the best hull upgrade can protect you from a 5000 ft drop, and you fall fast, so timing it must be really hard, especially for a speed run

This game has a sequel! I feel like almost nobody knows this, but XGen made a new Motherload called "Super Motherload". It's absolutely worth playing

6:05 it is explained earlier: it's gas pockets in the dirt that make it explode. Obviously they added this to the game to add another difficulty when going deeper. Nice speed run! I woke up in the middle of the night, having a cold, cannot sleep and somehow my brain remembered this game, when I had played it last time about 10 years ago. A full play through took me now 2 hours, lol, and then I found this video 😄

I played this game to the end UNSPOILED. What an epic twist at the end that I never saw coming. One of the best flash games ever made.

I remember this game. It wasn't one of the top things I played, but there were a good few hours put into it.

When i was playing this when i was early teens i alway though the depth you were going in this game was insane, now working as an actual miner, it not so bad, in fact the deepest ive been is around 10000fts deep, i can tell you its hot down here but it usually start to get warm beyond 3000fts, and air pressure is quite higher, in fact my old Lacross watch does calculate roughly -10000fts from air pressure.

So this is how you play the game like a pro lol. I remember getting bored extremely fast because how slow progress seemed. And I was not expecting the final boss lol

I'm the kind of person that would use strategy in a game like this and budget the money I got from minerals for what I needed at the time. Anything on top of that after I got the best gear was just icing on the cake and make me feel like a badass as a kid.

This is by far the best and highest quality flash game of back in the day. It was like having access to a AAA game for free. Don't ask me why digging down and selling minerals is so addicting but it certainly is. The Natas revelation was something else man...

Those randon dig-die things are due to "gas pockets" in the crust...also with a proper shielding you can withstand it a 2-3 times

Motherload is always such a pleasant surprise. You know if you buy Super Motherload you'll also get the Goldium edition of Motherload, has some neat extra bells and whistles plus this whole other game but who cares about that when you got Motherload, right?

When you are digging so deep, it isnt random dirt that kills you, its digging into gas pockets. 1x1 voids are not safe and will cause explosions. It explains this in on of the messages.

they made a reebot of this game a while ago and it's pretty good. Kind of drags near the end of the game but it has local co-op which is amazing tbh, really fun all around

ughhhhhh, i remember when i played this in my childhood that i would fall down those long mineshafts and my ship would somehow shift slightly to the left or right and get caught on some loose patch of dirt and explode. i should check this game out again, see if that still happens

Who else found the easter egg by flying straight up for a long time? I don't remember specifics, but it might have been in the paid version only. I would upgrade my fuel tank and bring lots of spare fuel, and fly straight up for a long ass time. No idea how long, I think I ended up taping my "up"-key. I think at 5000ft or smth you would get a little helper that gathered oil or something for you? But if you kept going up, eventually you would get a message from God, he would say; "Thou hast too much time on thy hands" I remember this very vaguely, maybe someone else remember more details.

I'm so glad there is still interest in this game. I found a desktop download and it's been a great time killer on flights

Crazy how the algorithm led me back to something that I barely remembered the name of but played several times in Middle School. I also had no idea this game had a final boss, much less a speed run community.

One of my fav browser games. Digging down is the way. Hardest part is to slow down when reaching bottom.

Putting a fake time in the thumbnail directs traffic away from other runners. You are doing a lot of damage mate.

I found some strategies that could save seconds. Since I see speedrunners of this game are spending some time on that. Including Colibolo's Run, and I think it's worth sacrificing 1 second for all dialogue ahead. Optimally you can remember all dialogue triggers and click gently on the ( X ) spot, without touching the options menu. Also, don't get confused ( X ) for the X Keystroke! However, I'm getting stuck after a while for some reason by having the mouse to move enabled. Immediately you start a new game go to (Options > Disable Mouse to move) And memorize the ESC for dialogues. And spam clicks the ( X ) to get out faster. I know there is one at the start of the game & think 500 and 1000ft. And for Shops/Refill etc. You can press (W-A-S-D) To exit. Recommending (Fuel = D / and everything on the right side = A). Not sure if this is a faster method to press A>D fast to exit out even faster. Have to be tested I guess. GL to whoever attempts WR :)
