My dream had me leaping and bounding around a California plains before coming across a strange ciecle of dumpsters designated for nearby homes. Even in my dream, I questioned the logistics of such a system.

I once had a dream of getting banned from a college campus for jumping over a series of lasers.

Like you're taking a walk on a nice day and then you're suddenly in your room, but the bed is on fire and your pet cat is casually sitting on it. Then you just stand there watching while characters from a cartoon you haven't seen in 15 years slowly prepare to put it out. Or the most common one, dreaming I did the laundry perfectly normally and then waking up to find my clothes are still dirty.

Well I also have dreams were I fly (thank you Dragonball Z I guess?). Sometimes I can use it to escape a nightmare because I get a feeling of familiarity in some dreams and than "remember" that I can fly or even control the Situation (without realising that I'm dreaming). I even have some dreams which make sense and follow a story line, sometimes I have dreams which are the continuation of older dreams (thanit feels familiar again).

@@jondo7680 I think I just figured out how the brain/consciousness makes that process/conclusion and why flying is common and an easy "tell" for dreamers/lucid dreamers. A bit of both reality checking and timing check (real life both has gravity and the speed of falling objects/body reaction to gravity is very timing specific). So it's the obvious first thing you notice when in a dream, that the laws of physics, and time perception is all slightly off.

@@TechyBen That's an interesting thought... so the intuition notices that the expected parameters we know so well (even with deep muscle memory) are off, because the brain all of a sudden has to construct those parameters itself - something it normally doesn't have to do - which leads to inaccuracies. Once the dissonance is noticed, it is actively thought about, and the erratic structure of thoughts in dreams ultimately leads to absurd conclusions, like being able to completely ignore physics and fly

This never happens to me. But, some months ago, I had a crazy dream, and I saw many people I have forgot since long irl. I met most in a theater, and it was very happy, I felt so glad to see these people again. Then, I was on a terrasse after. We ordered food, but only my order was forgot. These were the people I didn't care about or had bad moments with. Later in the dream I saw some friends that I last saw 10 years ago, maybe more. Most of this dream was joyful. But I do regret not knowing what these people have become. Maybe some are even dead now, and it feels tragic, in some way.

I had a dream that a tyrannosaurus was chasing me on a beach. It caught up with me and ate me but then it was an alien simulation where they were trying to see if a human could survive an encounter with a dinosaur. I woke up from a dream today where two customers demanded olives and they asked that I washed the brine off them. After I finished preparing their brainless olives they were behind they bar and I had to demand that they leave. They got pisses off and left but they also gave be a 50$ tip. I have the same thing. I'm 29 and so many of my dreams take place in the schools I went to. Sometimes I'm there as an adult and everyone else is kids. Sometimes we're all adults. Sometimes we're all kids again. I'm not sure if it means I'm in some way immature, or if I just miss those times. Another interesting one is I moved country 11 years ago, and in the entire time I've lived in my new country, I've had maybe 7-8 dreams set here. Meanwhile basically every night I have several dreams all set in my home-town. It's like I subconsciously never moved.

You will never stop dreaming about school, sorry. All the schools, some of the workplaces and most of your homes are now permanent dream architecture. Schools are especially full of traumatic, emotional, and formative memories so they stick like glue to the psyche. Best way to have less school dreams? Have a more stressful, chaotic, and/or traumatizing adult life like dr, military, high stakes finance, etc where your job becomes your whole life and you never stop thinking about it, then your brain won't have room for (too many) school dreams~

@@pvp6077 I started work at a pizza place a few weeks after I left this comment, and about two months ago I had a dream where I was in an old classroom of mine. In the classroom there were about 10 pizza ovens spaced evenly. One of my old teachers was showing me and some random faceless people how to clean the ovens from my workplace, in one of my old college classrooms. It was wild. Even 2 years out of education, I'm still getting school related dreams, and now they also have elements from my workplace in them. When I've been in education for like 19ish(?) years, it doesn't surprise me that school related dreams still show up even now. (Admittedly they happen less often nowadays and I get dreams less often in general.)

I'm 25 years old and I still regularly dream about going back to high school, and my brain always has an explanation for why I'm there but still the same age, and nobody finds it weird that I'm there because in dreams everyone just accepts that a 25 year old man can be sent back to high school to finish the last 2 months that he didn't finish for some reason.

Lol I’ve had the backseat driving dream too!! The odd mix of casual, laid back driving and omg this is so dangerous I’m going to get pulled over or get in an accident 😂

I dreamed that the steering wheel reached the back seat, but I couldn't see out the windshield. I could only see the sky. I watched in terror as clouds and random trees whizzed by. Eventually my brother opened the door to our 1988 Lincoln Town car and showed me the gigantic metal door that lead into the factory with a large seemingly unending blue staircase with no guard railing that lead up. I remember the large vats that were to the right of me as I went up and how everything smelled like hot metal. I was getting tired and after hours of climbing I get to the top and fall to the floor panting. I look to the left of me and see a metal door gently swing open with a tiny room and then another identical metal door that is already open. As I stared wishing I had the energy to get up I see a bright white light coming from the left of the second door. I hear words I couldn't understand, and I felt real, pure terror as the light was getting brighter. I slowly slid backwards and fell from the platform I was on. I fell for what felt like minutes as I watched the concrete floor approach. I woke up. It was the most vivid dream I ever had. I couldn't have been any older than 6 or 7. This dream haunts me to this day. I was so mad I couldn't stand up and go through the doors or see what was causing the light or understand what the words were.

I think it's all your memories of being a child in the backseat mixing with your adult responsibilities of driving.

His style regarding audio is offputting and I avoid anything that makes me, someone who already does not have the best of hearing (had an ear infection years back and left me with ringing, and I flinch at certain sounds now, it's uncomfortable) put off. Movies need to sort their audio balancing out.

I can normally remember my dreams pretty vividly but when I tell them to someone I usually change a few details because I can't even begin to describe how they would look.

So Dream is like “that’s dumb, why would you do that?” And I’m just like “I don’t know. It was your idea!”

a lot of my driving nightmares include me not being able to steer the car properly or the gas/brake pedal not functioning correctly. funny thing is usually the story of the dream is a minor thing like slightly scraping a car or running a stop light and getting a ticket.

Some say dreams are a way to prepare for unknown situations. If you expect things to go wrong, even subconsciously, they likely will. 😳

@@ryankunst668 I think cause the amount of people you need to create a movie in a dream and in real life are what stops movies being as good as they could be. In your dream you create the movie and it's perfect in your head. In real life you have 200 people adding what they think is right to the movie. Of course limited by time and money and other factors.

Great explanation, I don't remember my dreams often but when I do they are mostly relivings of memories stitched together like you said. Only time I ever went lucid was absolutely terrifying, I was reliving a memory of drinking coffee with my mom and grandma a year prior when I noticed they were talking about my current assignments at the table. Grandma asked how the paper was going, something I told no one. I asked how she knew about that, and she hands me a dollar bill with no markings whatsoever and asked me to pay the cashier. I told her we were in a dream and the money is worthless. Her face goes completely expressionless, everyone in the coffeeshop turns and looks at me without expression. It was highly distressing, so I grabbed the bill and paid the cashier. She smiles, says thank you, then I woke up. I think I genuinely had a conversation with my mind and it didn't like me asking questions.
