Loved the stories! I agree with Nance that we need to ask for these old stories. My great grandfather used to own property that I have since heard historical stories of Sasquatch being seen on. They were reported in the newspaper as well. Oh what history has been lost as nobody recorded any of his stories but say he always had a story to tell.

Hey Boss Lady, they were a pretty good one from Chris. Well quitting the booze for good is always a good thing to do, but have to say his reason was definitely unique, so guess you could say he was "scared straight". Grandma Jane had a good story about her Ma', getting run up a tree by wolves is scary enough and then comes along a big ole hairy giant, at least the big guy wasn't very hungry! ;) Loved the last story, especially the ending about the local Witch, which was actually heartwarming, and I think that when folks my age think about a typical witch we think "Wizard of Oz", now that there was the Witch of all Witches if you ask me! Way to go, Nance, man we sure do love your narrations, just sayin'... Thank you, as always, D.J.
@BuckeyeBigfoot
@BuckeyeBigfoot 2 роки тому
He there, D.J. - thanks as always for listening and taking the time to leave comments. I really liked these stories that Christopher collected. As other people have pointed out, Leflore, Ok has a long history of bigfoot activity, including some that is well known from back in the settler days. I think the witch in the last story is a perfect example of how people took one marginalized woman and villified her because she got old, was not beautiful or whatever. Sad, but true. I find it interesting that she called them "Mountain People". Boy, I sure would have liked to have gotten some stories from her about the interaction with her "Mountain People".

@rvproducts4u

Hey, Nance, loved the stories tonight! Have you ever heard about the LaFlore county Bigfoot war in 1855? Supposedly women and children began to disappear in what is now LaFlore county, and Joshua LaFlore and 30 Choctaw Soldiers went looking for the culprits. They found an area deep in the woods containing the bodies of half eaten victims and then they encountered 3 Bigfoot’s, and in the ensuing battle, LaFlore and the 3 Bigfoot’s were killed. Apparently, LaFlore county has had a rather extensive history of Bigfoot activity through the years, though nothing as dramatic as the Bigfoot war…

Last time I wrote a comment I told the story of my Mom and sister. The next is my own. My brother and nephews always have a game night. One such game night after we wrapped up game night and I was on my way home I was two thirds the way home and something hit the side of my pickup. I stopped at a nearby parking lot turned around and went back to see what I hit but there was nothing along the road. So I went on home and checked the truck in the morning. I found four scratches along the side of the truck. But there was nothing along the road to hit. That's all I can remember for now. I paint figures as a hobby and I want to paint one up for you . But I don't have an address to send it to but you have my email. Thanks for the encounters.

My Grandparents are from Oklahoma and I had a chance to ask them if they saw anything strange out in the country, Grammaw said she saw a lot of bizarre stuff such as lights in the sky, and other such things, but she never went into detail. She said they had other things they had to worry about so they just shrugged and carried on. I wish I would have pressed but I guess that's how it is when you're young. You just don't realize until they're gone! Maybe one day I'll go visit Beggs just to see things for myself.
@BuckeyeBigfoot
@BuckeyeBigfoot 2 роки тому
I think that's pretty common. (Not knowing the questions to ask when you're young) In my case, I thought they were all going to live forever. Well, not really, but I just didn't think about what the 50 year old me would want to ask them. I thought I knew - and my 20-something self asked some questions, but not nearly enough, and not the ones that I would focus more on today.

More recently I used to live near the Arkansas/Oklahoma border and though I never saw one, we did have lots of activity. Now, present day, there is a man, nI don't remember his name, who has a channel on You Tube. "Bigfoot and more. He is in Eastern Oklahoma and tells many stories of encounters in Laflore County.

Happy 4th of July weekend 💥💫💥🇺🇸 WHAT A STORY !!! Love it ❤❤ I live in Muskogee Oklahoma for 24 years. And I drive by Le Flore county ,I'm amazed by the greenery of the Forest. Eventually the history of that town came to light. Supposedly a Army lieutenant of last name Le Flore was in contact with the natives because of Bigfoot stealing and eating their children. A fight broke out and Le Flore died amongst other soldiers. But Folklore says that they kill at least 7 Bigfoots. And that was the end of stealing children from the natives. So,if you want great stories, Leflore County is the best place. It is a valley with midsized mountains with a river that ran through it. Lots of oil drilling wells,indeed. But I'm assuring you them stories are amazing, credible, and easily relatable. Thanks for a great narration!!!!! Love it !!! Your style of narration mentally take you and place you inside of the story. You are a Gran Master of narration!!!!!

Ready Nance, but I would like to wish my sass squad a safe 4th celebration and to be respectful for those veterans who are dealing with PTSD, I have gotten some nasty comments about this , my cousin cornbread fed has gotten one from spongequan a real nasty one saying their faking well she was upset and when she gets this way I wait until she calms down. I'm just want to continue with this also remember to say thank you, and to those in unform and to remember we can still celebrate our holidays.
@BuckeyeBigfoot
@BuckeyeBigfoot 2 роки тому
PTSD is NO joke. I come from a military family - my father was a Marine (WW2) and my husband was in the Air Force and almost ALL of my uncles served in either Korea or Vietnam. I have seen first-hand what they have all been through - and some of it before PTSD was known or understood. Back then they just called it 'shell-shock'. I know PTSD is NO JOKE. Thank you for being sensitive to those who might be suffering from it - I know Fourth of July is hard for many of them, precisely because the fireworks DO mimic the wars that were fought. For us, it's a reminder of gaining our Independence - for them, it's a reminder of they wars THEY fought to give us that Independence. I wish there was a way we could still celebrate without ever upsetting someone with PTSD.

Nance, have you heard the hidden history of LeFlore County? It’s named after a man who died fighting “cannibal giants” that were preying on a Native American Village, taking people and eating them. LeFlore, who was half French and half Native, I think, led a large group of Native peoples to confront the Clan of hairy giants and either drive them away or kill them. They found them, and what was described as a literal pile of partially eaten human corpses! LeFlore was one of the many killed in the ensuing battle. But they reportedly succeeded in killing many of the creatures and driving the survivors away.

Yes, I had heard of that incident. I've read lots of different accounts of it, though. But still - what a story!

Haha. I love American lingo! 😂 My daddy had a "printing press" for years when I was a little girl. It was my job to get the "income" (Mom's translation was "the envelope") from the first mailman that stopped at the mailbox on the old dirt road where I grew up. There was an explosion in the woods one morning, and my mother made my little brother and I stay inside all day long that day! 😂 We later found out that it was a neighbor who had a grudge against Daddy that called and reported his still. That was over 50 years ago. Two years ago, there was another BOOM in the woods, and smoke poured from the woods near the field across from Mom's house. We never saw the warden's truck, so he'd have had to have parked on the back side of the woods and hiked in. We're flatlanders, but we country folks have to make a living somehow! 😂😂😂

I heard several similar tales from family down in Kentucky when I was young. They say my grandpa got the money to pay cash for his farm from bootlegging during prohibition. I don't doubt it - his uncles, cousins and his one brother were all in all kinds of illegal things. "( just recently found this out thanks to newspapers.com haha) But yeah - he bought 113 acre farm in Kentucky in 1931 - height of Prohibition - and the Depression - and he paid cash. Yeah . .. I think grandpa was doing something, alright. HAHA Seems if you made a good mash you got all the business - which is what one of my elderly aunts said they remembered hearing - that their dad (my grandpa) made one of the best mashes to be found in Laurel, Knox or Whitley counties and people all but lined up down the gravel driveway to get it. Funny to hear stuff like that.

Moonshine in my book is an honest trade. It's a shame that if you get caught with a meth lab you get drug court but get caught with a still they send you up the river, I'm proud to say that I'm related to moonshiners and a long line of losers

I live close to were this story came from. Late At nite at times there's a silence in the air that gets your attention. I was walking on the dirt road to my house around 1:00 Am and you couldn't see five feet in front of you I could sense something was following me. The closer I got to home the more afraid I got. I got with in 1/2 mile to my house I ran the rest of the way. I hurried to the bedroom looked out the window and saw Avery tall person starting at my house. I closed the curtains hid under the covers and told myself I'll never stay out that late again. I was around 14 at the time and kept my promise to myself.
