Yep, I just bought a 4080 super at MSRP. Wouldn't have touched it at their original price. I mostly hit buy cos the 5080 is at least a year off, I don't have much faith we'll see a 5080 at under $999 and if we do I suspect it'll be quite some time before you can actually buy it at MSRP. So it could maybe be 18 months before I could hope to get a 5080 for the same money. And I'll take tram world performance at a price I can just about stomach over future possibilities.

@@ByPurev7 Neither have I. The 4090 is perfectly safe lol. I have the Suprim X varient. If you use the included adapter make sure its plugged in on the GPU side. Use the recommended amount of 8 pin PCie cables it calls for. Normally 4 x 8 pin. A deticated 3 x 8 pin meant for your PSU by someone like cablemods also works perfectly fine and supports the full 600 watts.

that depends, I have been looking at the numbers from my 2060Super to anything from 4070 to 4070 ti super and the numbers dont lie, the newer cards are far superior on every metric except using ddr6 memory still and not having that much of a lift in the amount of vram although there is some difference, everything else from l2 caches to cuda cores, tensor and raytracing cores the new cards are everything from 4x to 10x larger, how that exactly translates into real life performance is something that I still need to see. So I suppose if you are on the 3000 series and not 2000series then it may be smart to wait and who knows when the 50 series actually arrives?

But, I like to get this cards as early as possible so i get the most amount of time with them while they are current. I waited for a reason... something better just took too long to show up. I will not be getting anything new for a while, though.

No lol, games don't even use the 20gb of the 7900xt let alone 24 or 48. Heck games don't even use the 16gb we see and there's barely any games using 12gb or 10 ( any that do are usually poorly optimised or you will be turning down settings anyway as your FPS is too little )... And if UE5 does become the most popular engine overall we wont even see 12gb cards sweat that much at 1440p.

I would go with an AMD GPU unless you need the Nivdia features. I’d do need the features I would wait until 5000 series. However if you turely need it now then I guess you could get the RTX 4080 super.

Unless you really need a GPU right now, I would wait. There's some rumors about the next gen GPUs will have a nice price/performance jump. Something like 4080 performance for half the price on the AMD GPUs and it's likely to have a similar price/performance jump on Nvidia.

@@B-ROYalty That's the catch. You pay for the GPU $400-500. But you have to understand that the GPU is a marketing tool to sell the 14th gen CPU also that gives you the APO. APO can be worth anything from 10-50% of the performance. We have already had a taste of it. I don't think it will be as from the launch but as the drivers mature you will see that with the CPU you can boost the performance considerably. I would say it will also boost Alchemist. I'm hoping they will give the 13th gen APO also as it is the same die. But so far it is only on 14th gen and selected MB with BIOS update.

@@xKB616 From what I've seen the only crypto worth using a gpu on (I hate the people who do), is Ethereum. It's not efficient at all to use gpu's for bitcoin, you'd want to buy an ASIC miner for that. Not worth it at all from my point of view.

I might get the 5070 if it's reasonably priced, if it has a significant leap in path tracing performance, if it comes with 16GB, if the memory bandwidth is any good, and especially if DLSS 4 is any good. That's a lot of ifs though, not counting on it being an option in my budget range. Otherwise I'll just go for the 8800 XT. Huge upgrade to my RX 6600 regardless.

3090ti is more for prosumer stuff like dabbling in AI and graphics design. If you're using it just for gaming, I think you'd be better off burning the money. The VRAM is what makes it better than the 4080, even if the 4080 is faster at gaming. They also don't have the 12vhpwr issues of the 4090.
