Your videos are my absolute favorites. I lovvve the content and have listened to many similar channels but this is by far the best. The narration and tone, the artwork, the delivery, and everything are so perfect. I have been listening every night for both information and as relaxation during a very stressful time.

Did Eru possibly create them in the same way God made Leviathans? A failed prototype life form that he discarded beneath the earth due to their primitive and violent nature. Tolkiens works have always left me wondering and pondering and I love it but there are questions that need answering 😜

The Balrog, Being Saurons equal would not just follow his equal. He had his own rule over moria with his own army after the demise of his master, So why would he follow his equal in the absence of his master while he had everything he was created for?

I mean if you think about it they would be on similar power levels with each other especially given Sauron didn’t have his ring. The only reason they served Morgoth is because he was such an overwhelming power in comparison.

All pantheons have a creator, and all creators hence. Perhaps the nameless have just been forgotten as creations of previous Gods as they fell into slumber or met their demise. It's like an unannounced easter egg in a game that only a few who are well-read and well-travelled know of. It could also be that they were named and drew the power from their name, wreaking havoc upon the world. As that would match a high fantasy setting. However, after all beings who knew them died, they were forgotten, losing their power and withdrawing to the source of the world to survive. Therefore, they cannot harm mortal and immortal kind alike, like an incorporeal ghost. However, once they are acknowledged, they strike, and once they're named, they have substance. Until then, they are formless and malleable, shaped but not restricted to the fear of the subject. That is why Gandalf will not name or shed light on them to those on the surface as they would draw power from their new name and escape the confines of the worlds source.

There were no elves in Helm's Deep. Just read the books. A lot of things were changed or left out in the movies. On the one hand, elves appear where there never were any. On the other hand, Tom Bombadil and the Old Forest are simply left out without explanation.

I don't think this is entirely true. Other than Sauron, there were other evil forces in Middle Earth, like Smaug, Shelob or Balrog - and when Sauron regained his power they might have grown somewhat more agitated/awake/influential too. But mainly, they were separate entities of their own, with no will or ability to cooperate, as is the weakness of most evil. The only ways for them to 'ally' would be to either completely control/dominate one another or have some very temporary alignment of purpose (as between Ungoliath and Morgoth). So to control the Balrog, Sauron would have to find him, fight him/influence him, actually take a huge risk and possibly still be unable to have full control --- much easier to leave him as he was, let him do his own evil which actually played into Sauron's plans anyway.

The more I wacth and learn about the msytic existence of the facinating Elf the more I hate the new Amazon show because in those series they talk and even act like humans. Its really hard you know to ruin a msytic race like this.

Whatever orcs remained hiding in darkness…there would be no breeding. Orcs were created, twisted from elves. They never ever show female orcs which leads one to believe that perhaps female elves do not survive the transformation, only male elves did. Therefore i believe that the orcs would eventually just die out as a race.

@andrewlilico22182 дні тому
What happened to Saruman's ring after he left Orthanc? And what happened to his ring after he died? Unlike the rings falling under the One Ring, Saruman's ring wouldn't have lost its power after the destruction of the One Ring. So it would still persist as a magic ring.
@andrewlilico22182 дні тому
Is it possible that Saruman fashioned the ring before he turned wicked, and that in fact it was his ring that brought him down, by amplifying his envy and lust?
@tarvoc7462 дні тому
In mythology, Orcneas referred to something that wasn't so much a sapient humanoid species as a devil, underworld demon, evil spirit, or an undead or living corpse. The question of their redeemability couldn't even arise for these beings, and indeed would seem absurd, because these things weren't really people, they were demons. Conversely, in many post-Tolkienian settings, Orcs are culture-creating sapient humanoids on a level with humans, maybe more brutish and with a different understanding of morality, but definitely people in the full sense of the term. Tolkien himself is kind of at the threshold or intersection of these two very different concepts of Orcs, and he must have struggled immensely to bring them together without cognitive dissonance. His weird description of them as "naturally, but not irredeemably evil" (which incidentally can just as easily serve as a description of humans and their original sin according to Tolkien's own catholicism!) shows this oscillation really nicely in my opinion.

My speculation always was, that with the destruction of the master ring the "nine for mortal men, doomed to die" lost all power and the Nine finally could die , or - considering that their corporal forms had withered away millenia ago, they simply withered into nothingness.

The part where you talk about the few orcs wanting to go off on their own you say is an opening for potential goodness..... Which could be true except for their goals for leaving. The whole making a place of their own via stealing stuff from people, one could argue is NOT a good or moral thing. Just saying. That aside excellent video sir, far better than the ground falls away for no reason just so the heroes can have an easy out of their sacrifice play at the end of RotK.

You may never know but Sauron is known to take forms that reflects his ideals and values maybe even his feelings. He’s also known to rebuild a new body for himself after one is destroyed. It all depends who he is dealing with. He wouldn’t look the same towards the race of men the way he looked when he was in Eregion during the forging of the rings of power and vice versa. I would say the same with dwarves and wizards. But in the end they all knew him as the shadow. Personally I never quite liked the armoured version he is in Peter Jackson’s movies because he just comes off like a puppet at times.

Humans flatter themselves. Apart from their actual appearance, real human beings are more like orcs than any other creature in Middle Earth.

Most of the Istari failed, because they were set an absolute bastard of a task. They were partially stripped of their memories, divested of their knowledge, robbed of their eternality, denied their might and then sent to defeat the greatest of their kin, on a battlefield of his choosing... and only by manipulating mortals and events. And his specialty is... manipulating mortals and events.
