I was kinda hoping you were about to say "can you even give yourself to others while also simultaneously being spider-man?" I mean that's what you were getting at anyway. But it's a funny sentence. So.

It’s a funny thing, ain’t it. One can be so disappointed with movies they looked forwards to, back in the days. Then, 15-20 years later you re-visit them with fresh eyes, and sometimes you just catch your self appreciating them much more. I feel that way TOO in regards to Spider-Man 3. I think alot of it has to do with the fact, that I never really loved the “Scoobie-Do” feel of the Tom Holland films. I’m talking about Peter, MJ and Ned together (SORRY!) it was just too..uhm.. well, SCOOBIE-DO-gang for me (can’t explain it any better, lol) And I only legit LOVED parts of No Way Home. All the stuff with Green Goblin (Hello you, from the original Spiderman flick!) And then I LOVED everything with all three spidermen together on screen (for ME, Andrew Garfield stole the whole fuckin’ show!) But still, the new Spiderman films just feels so damn standard MARVEL, and it’s sorta come to feel kinda “meh”, ESPECIALLY now at days. At the very least, Sam Raimi’s trilogy feels SPECIAL, and it has its own unique feel (it’s OWN world!) Spiderman 3 is still the weakest in the trilogy for me, but I DO appreciate it much more now at days, I fully agree! Same can be said for the PREGUEL Star Wars flicks, now at days 🤷‍♂️ Do I think they’re suddenly AWESOME? No. But in light of all the bullshit MEH Star Wars-stuff, that Disney has given us these past years (including the newest trilogy as a whole) I much more appreciate the prequels, cause at least they had their own identity and own unique feel. And at the very least, Lucas had a goddamn PLAN from the get-go! He had a vision for all three films, and knew the throughline of his story. Disney’s new “trilogy” had NON of that!… Yes, those films one bitched so much about, back in the days, they’re easier to appreciate now at days, in light of how everything else has evolved since then = It’s a funny thing 🤗🤷‍♂️ Thanks for this video, man! Awesome 🙏

12:09 I always thought he should have wound up with Ursula. I've been talking about Spider-Man and making Spider-Man fan content for over ten years, I learned how to read with Spider-Man comics and Spider-Man 2 is my favorite film. This take on Peter was a better fit for Ursula. But they never would have been able to do that in a Spider-Man film at this time. I also might add, Mr Dikovitch, while he seems gruff, is actually a very supportive force in Peter Parker's life. While we are shown someone who is constantly pestering Peter for rent, in Spider-Man 3, we are treated to a scene where Dikovitch has every right to be angry with Peter, and instead says: "He's a good boy, he must be in trouble". While he has been on the hunt for rent, the other side is that he's let Peter Parker go months without paying, and Peter frequently pays him late. Dikovitch never kicks him out because he believes Peter is a good person. There are so many characters in this trilogy that are just subtly built out to be more than meets the eye, and while Spider-Man 3 in my opinion is the weakest of the trilogy, you need it to complete the picture of this world.

ive defended spiderman 3 my entire life. it criticizes ego grandiosity in a spectacular, fun way. I think most dont like the idea of their overgrown egos being deflated so it hurt the average viewer. perfect ending to a perfect trilogy.

My biggest complaint about Spider-Man 3 is that they fumbled the Symbiote arrival storyline. They set up the space mission! They had the guy! And it just randomly falls to Earth and happens to land next to Peter and MJ in the park? What is that??

I did not like at all the way they set up Peter and MJ's break-up. It was a cop-out to have MJ forced with a threat of violence to break up with Peter. They should have rather had her actually appear to be falling for Harry, then with a hint of guilt, breaks with Peter hoping to run to Harry. THEN evil Harry would blow her off after she'd just alienated herself from Peter. The way they've got it, the scene falls somewhat flat simply because of the context. I did even make a fan-edit that largely fixes this section of the film. No, it's not on this channel, or this website, but it is out there available to watch free if you know where to look.

THANK YOU. Ive been saying this for years. If it had any failings at all its because everyones expectations were WAY too high in advance so it could only let people down. Also, I do think Raimi was forced to include Venom in the film, and i think it wouldve been a better film with only Harry and Sandman's villain arcs, along with the black suit. They couldve introduced Brock and saved him becoming venom for a future film... But I do agree that the three villains all represented different aspects of revenge and ego themes. These are minor quibbles. Its way better than people give it credit for. To this day. The scenes with "dancing Peter" were self aware and they were supposed to be funny. As other people said, this is how some who is not cool would imagine someone cool should act. People miss that for some reason. One thing that Raimi said in interviews at the time was that his approach to making the films was to ask himself, what lesson does Peter need to learn next? This was his focus way more than "what villain would be kewl" and that heart and sentiment shows, especially in the third where the lesson obviously was forgiveness.

"Remember Ben Parker? The old man you shot down in cold blood?" "What does it matter to you anyway?" "EVERYTHING!" It's so chilling seeing Peter return to the state that he was after Ben died in the first movie, but this time he's ready to kill. I also think Spider-Man in these movies is so much edgier than in other iterations and I love that. You see him in the first movie breaking Carradine's (the robber) arm before letting him fall to his death. That happy-go-lucky attitude that they turn him into or expect him to be is not ideal for me. Seeing audience reactions to SM3 with people laughing to serious scenes like Peter crying in Harry's death scene is unnerving. Ok guys, I get it I like the memes too but that doesn't mean that movie is this ridiculous. The MCU movies are much more stupid, cracking jokes in every scene not taking anything seriously. Not all of them but a lot of them.

I know I've already commented twice but I can't help it I comment as I watch as if it were alive video. The expression of emotion is absolutely fantastic and what made me fall in love with Tom Holland's Spider-Man in homecoming. When he was trapped under that rubble and he was literally crying and screaming for help it felt so real and to see him pick himself up from that was just such an epic Goosebump giving moment

Okay this video is absolutely beautiful and I also love Spider-Man 3. I hope that someday you will do a video like this for the Hulk movie from 2003 by Ang Lee. I feel like that movie is so undervalued and underrated and I think it was honestly just too deep for a superhero movie in the early 2000s

My favorite Raimi Spider-Man movie was the second one, my wife’s was the first. Back when we first got married, before streaming was what it now is, we would debate which one to watch on movie night before nearly always compromising and watching the third one. I still think it’s the worst of the three and it’s not even close, but I don’t think it’s a bad movie by any means. It’s plot is poorly structured, the acting is some of the hammiest (and intentionally so, but I still don’t think that always works in this movie’s favor the way it did the other two), but if you understand where the first two were coming from, you can glom onto this movie’s vibe too. And it does have some really great moments and cool ideas going throughout. Definitely didn’t deserve all the hate.

I never thought there was that much difference between Spider-Man 3 and the first two. They are all goofy and campy. If anything I think people underestimate how campy and goofy the first two movies really are. I honestly think that audience’s tastes just changed. Batman Begins had come out and I think people were just ready for something more serious.

Look. There are great things about S3 that are definitely overlooked. But, lets be real, this movie is a bloated mess. Its not Sam Raimi's fault though, there a great movie in this that he tried to make but his vision was tampered with due to studio mandate.

Letterboxd really does need its own database. I remember trying to add a movie because I couldn’t find it on Letterboxd, so I went to create an entry on The Movie Database only to find out that the movie did exist on Letterboxd, it’s just that Letterboxd ignores articles like “the” in a movie title.

I think this film was so unfairly maligned. Just take Venom, for instance: is he the comic book accurate nemesis that fans were expecting? No. Is he still thematically relevant to Sam Raimi's story? Absolutely! His presence in Spider-Man 3 gives Peter a physical manifestation of his inner turmoil to fight at the very end, thus bringing the conflict full circle. Sam didn't even wanna put Venom in the film to begin with, and you can definitely tell, but he still made it work in my opinion! SM2 will always be my personal favorite, but I still say that SM3 is a worthy addition to the trilogy.

Imagine if in Spider-Man 4 and 5, it went like this: Imagine Harry, instead of simply taking on the new mantle of New Goblin, became the new Green Goblin that was in charge of the Sinister 6. He and Sandman would be the Primary and secondary antagonists for Spider-Man 3, with Sandman being defeated but never really dying. Peter would have been going back and forth until finally submitting and keeping the black suit halfway through 3. In a like post credits scene, Kraven would take a new liking to this Spider-Man, and begin hunting him in 4. Peter would then use the black suit up until literally the very end of Spider-Man 4, simultaneously introducing Venom for the entirety of 5. This gives both Venom and Peter more time to flesh out their characters, along with how this alternate version of Peter fleshed out his relationship to the Villains he would be facing. Kraven would be the primary antagonist in 4 with Harry as a secondary who moreso organizes things in the background, with the Lizard being introduced as a sort of "force of nature" villain on the side. We already know Vulture and Lizard were confirmed for Spider-Man 4, and Lizard was literally IN the Spider-Man 3 game, so they would have served as new antagonists that would alternate between scenes with Peter, eventually meeting Harry Osborne, and forming the Sinister... group(It's not 6 yet). In 5, briefly introduce Vulture in the beginning as a pesky type of villain, and have the Sinister 6 officially formed. Harry becomes good halfway through the movie, and the two fight against the 5 villains with Venom making his official entrance from the very beginning as the primary antagonist. Harry dies the same way as his father except nr cuz he's good, Peter lives, and the rest of it ends the same way 3 ultimately did.

I'm so happy you see this movie as I do. It's an amazing movie! The only reason I can see people thinking this one is bad is if you look at the time this came out, all superhero movies that were coming out except for a select few were good to amazing films. But returning to it now and comparing it with the garbage marvel had been putting out the past 5 years, this movie is fantastic. If people still considered this movie bad, then what is madame web, Thor love and thunder, and Antman: Quantumania.
