what's sad is, the Target girl does this all the time! she finds things at restaurants to complain about, until she gets asked to leave, and then turns on the camera to moan to her followers that "she did nothing wrong and they're kicking me out for no reason". whenever I hear her voice, I know the "problem" is most likely fake or stupid.

The annoying woman is Lajera Payton. She harrasses literally everybody. She is from the northern Illinois/Chicago area and has been kicked out of many places for causing scenes & harassing the employees of literally every place. The saying is actually “The customer is always right in matters of style and taste”. It means if the customer thinks the neon green curtains go well with the apple green walls, teal carpet, and pumpkin orange couch then you sell it to them with no argument. Somehow the Karens of the world grasped onto the beginning of the phrase. From there, it devolved into entitled thinking.

Target has management tiers. There are Team Leads, Executive Team Leads and a Store Team Lead. There is also a schedule rotation and what they refer to as "Team Lead ON Duty". and in some cases, a regular Team Lead, especially on some closing shifts it is not uncommon for them to be the one "on Duty"... its easier for them to just say they are THE Manager.. In that ladys case all she did was waste her own time by not listening and insisting "The Customer is Right".. Target is also fairly lenient on price corrections within $20. Even a cashier can help you with something like that

It stinks if you have loud kids or pets, and you’ve been doing your best to remedy the situation. I have four kids so if my neighbors hear the screams, I’m going deaf. At the same time, if it is truly that loud, it’s really annoying and interruptive to everyone, no matter what time of day. I feel like in nowadays, people have varying schedules, people with differing needs, and the like. If someone’s home situation is so loud that my kids or pets can’t exist normally I’d be upset as well, and handle it differently. Someone else’s three year old is no more important than anyone else. It’s great we are learning to be more accepting of people’s differences, and at the same time we have no idea if the woman in question had her own sensory issues or other issues. The woman may not have handled it well, although I agree with your message. Some people really let kids and animals run wild, just because. Remember that bad parents exist. There isn’t always an underlying issue or condition to consider.

i don't know if this is considered in the same vein, but i'm sharing it anyway. I own and run a shop on etsy where I make costumes and clothing for adults and kids. I don't have a warehouse or stock room as I work out of my home, so everything is made one at a time according to the specs provided to me by the client. Well, last month I got an order for a costume coat. It was a piece I have done many times before and have only ever gotten good feedback from. Well, about a week later i get a call from the client saying she wanted to return it because it was too big and didn't fit. She selected the size from the drop-down menu provided in the listing (which also provides a sizing guide). I told her that I do not offer returns, refunds or exchanges since everything is custom made according to the information the client provides to me. she said she didn't see anything about that. Translation: I didn't bother to look. I opened the listing and told her exactly where it was. She said she also didn't like the fabric. I told her it was very clearly printed in the Fabric Materials section what the coat was made of, right above the Return Policy. Again, she said she didn't see it. Translation: I couldn't be bothered to look for anything. This is what I said to her, "Just like with any company/business, it's the client's responsibility to make sure they read and understand all information before ordering, and that if they don't understand something, it's still their responsibility to reach out to the seller prior to ordering." when she tried to blame Etsy for allowing this, I said, " Etsy has nothing to do with this. Every seller on etsy is an independent business that decides their own shop policies, and that it's still up to the client to make sure they look for and understand all information. It's not the seller's responsibility to reach out and make sure a client understands everything that is clearly stated on the page. I did my job you didn't do yours." She actually started stammering and asked what she's supposed to do. I told her, "Ma'am that's not my problem." I don't mess around. Like I said, I don't know if this fits with the theme of the video, but I something said I should share this story.

I agree. I've ordered custom items from Etsy and I will always take responsibility for any mistakes I've made, because it's hard enough to get a small business off the ground, so why make it harder on them? I hope your business continues to do well and you have less difficult people to deal with. ❤

@@guineawuv Thank you so much. The majority of clients I get are great people. some I have even become friends with. I mean I get that some people have never ordered from Etsy before. But everyone has ordered online before. Before ordering from anywhere (even at a restaurant) check the product description, and return policy to make sure if there's a problem that it can go back? The thing is that a lot of these people think that they can get what they want if they complain. But when they get the shop owner on the phone and get a response like what I gave, they're brains stop. You can almost hear it grinding to a halt, and their thought process going, "This isn't how my script goes. I complain, I get money back." I like my script better.

She had no concern whatever for the potential that by screaming (described as playing wolf)the child might put herself in danger in future - it was a simple case of being annoyed at the child's loud screaming. That's it. As for the incident at the doctor's office you were spot on - totally spot on. When people are really angry, it's almost always at themselves 😉

The Target one reminds me of a customer I had back in the 90s. She asked for a manager and when I came up front she demanded a REAL manager and would not accept that I was the only management on duty at the time. I never got a clear reason to her complaint but it seemed to have been that she was upset over being served by an employee. Not by anything that the person did, said or didn't do, just that the girl who served her wasn't a manager. She was so upset that she was about ready to start throwing fists over this and is one of two customers I ever even considered the possibility that I may have to call the cops on. It came to an end when another employee who was off work came in the check his schedule and found his MOTHER getting ready to start a fist fight. He drug her outside and sent her home or at least away from the store.

5:21 tbh some parents let children have tantrums just because they don't want to deal with them. If you have 4 kids and one is screaming like it's being attacked you should do something about it. I feel like if that woman got to her door to tell her something it means that the tantrum has been going on for a WHILE. But I'm not in that particular situation so I don't know. I'm basing this on my own experience with neighbors that allowed their children to scream for hours just because they didn't get ice cream or a toy...

I keep seeing comments here that the phrase "the customer is always right" is actually truncated from the phrase "the customer is always right in matters of taste." Unfortunately, that is not true. The earliest attribution of the phrase was coined by Harry Gordon Selfridge of the Selfridge department store back in 1893. And it pretty much means what it says. Remember, this was back in the time of "buyer beware", and at that time treating customer complaints in a respectful and courteous manner was quite revolutionary. As times have changed, the need for the original phrase has declined and the addition of "in matters of taste" has been appended to make the statement more in line with modern morals.

I kind of agree with the woman that said that the neighbor should teach her child not to scream like that. I get terrified when kids do it in my neighborhood because what if I act and get yelled at for not minding my business, but what if I don't act and the kid is in trouble? It gives me anxiety, but at the same time I wouldn't go to their parents and tell them how to raise them, because you never know if the child is autistic or whatever. My little brother is autistic and screams bloody murder out of nowhere, so I do understand that. I just wish that I wasn't so anxious, I guess. End of rambling. Edit: I think I should say that I understand where she's coming from, not that I agree with her.

I kind of agree as well, but really I need more context. Was she only screaming for like a minute? Then no intervention was needed and the lady just wants a reason to criticize and belittle another mom. Was the kid crying on and off for a long time? Then the parent doesn't seem attentive enough to at least attempt to calm the child down. Just my two cents. I've been in both situations, yes 3 year olds cry and throw tantrums, but just letting them scream for the whole block to hear them continuously is kinda rude and has proven to be very annoying. I would need more context on this to accurately judge.

Right?! If it happens and it’s not normal, I’m calling the cops. If it’s happening a lot, I’m calling the cops and maybe CPS. Sometimes parents are just bad parents or simply inconsiderate. If the neighbor doesn’t want to let me know why it’s happening, that’s fine; it’s not my business. It will be the business of other agencies figuring out why it keeps happening. Think about it. Unless the entire neighborhood has their windows open, the sound shouldn’t travel that far. Otherwise that’s really a loud, blood curdling scream, which I don’t think anyone wants to hear at any time of day. People on the receiving end of the screaming might have their own needs, different schedules, and their own health issues. One person in the community shouldn’t be more important than the others.

Saying there was a child in distress and screaming, the operator would have heard it if it was so bad. cos TBH, where I live, kids (and drunk adults) scream like they are being killed all times of the day, I'm so numb to it, if some kid/adult did have the worse happen to them, I wouldn't even bat an eyelid if they were screaming for their life, because it would just be another dumb ass screaming because they think it's funny.

Tantrums are normal for toddlers. It is the only way they can release stress. Kids and babies melt down. As someone who has problems regulating my emotions, sticking a kid in the room to "deal with it" does not work. We, as the adults, are suppose to help them work through and understand those big feelings. Yeah, it is a lot harder than just sticking them in the room but it starts to pay off around 6 years, especially with those really emotional little ones.
@beeziebubs2756
@beeziebubs2756 8 місяців тому
People like to pretend that toddlers and babies aren’t literally experiencing everything for the first time ever and have the full emotional range and control as adults. It’s insane that so many parents and adults even have these expectations of their kids while putting in absolutely zero effort in trying to teach them how to deal with the big feels. Also, you need to be a particularly nasty person to ask a mother to tell her three year old that no one is going to help her if her life is in danger just because you’re annoyed she’s screaming.

The screaming incident; I would simply ask if her child is okay? Because I hear her screaming as if something might be wrong. Leave it at that. That is enough to put the parent on notice. The incident with the manager, this woman is really ridiculous. The whole "the customer is always right" thing, that is a throwback from the 60's. You don't act like a polite customer, so don't even pull that one out of the bag. The woman at the Dr. office. Use the phone to communicate that you might be late, and ask them to work with you. End of story. Lady on the flight; How dare she read someone texts. That is rude. Not that I am taking this man's side. - Snerixx THANK YOU for keeping it clean, by not using too much foul language, and bleeping it when you do. I'm an old lady and appreciate that a lot.

I have a autistic child that screams and grunts often to communicate. Which is why I often have to take him out of stores/restaurants when he has a neltdown. He has trouble regulating himself. When I'm at home I always fear that someone will call the police or come to my door. Sometimes it takes me hours to get him calmed down. If that grandma thinks the screaming is bothering her imagine the exhausted,stressed parents that deal with that all day. I wish more people were understanding.

As someone who does phone customer service please do NOT use the phrase "I know it's not you" This phrase gets old very quickly if you hear it like 50 times a day. I know people say it to diffuse situations but this phrase plus "Listen up" are two phrases if you use it during a call with me, you'll get the minimum of service I am obliged to give you. Because if you KNOW its not me than don't be upset towards me.

So yes i was angry at carmart it's self. Not this specific person i was talking to

There are several phrases that are wonderful but have been shortened so they suck. Like saying calling someone a jack of all trades to indicate that they don't have enough knowledge to know what you're talking about/doing. When the real phrase is, "Jack of all trades, but master of none, is better than a master of one," meaning that someone with a broad knowledge base is generally more useful than someone who is hyper focused on one thing to the exclusion of other skills. "The customer is always right," is another one. As it normally used it means that the customer can do, say, and get whatever they want. The full saying is, "The customer is always right in matters of taste," meaning that the customer can want what they want, but that doesn't mean they're going to get it.
@krankarvolund7771
@krankarvolund7771 8 місяців тому
It's funny, because none of these phrases have been shortened :p First, "Jack of all trades, master of none, is better than a master of one" is a modern addition. In fact, even "master of none" is an addition, the original saying in the 17th century was just "Jack of all trades". Shakespeare was qualified as such in the start of his career, it was meant as an insult already, but the term was ambiguous, sometimes meant as a compliment, sometiems as an insult, given the context. It's in the late 18th century that the master of none was added, but still no signs of a "better than a master of one" ^^ As for the customer is always right, same thing, the point had always been customer service, not taste. Shops sell things you know, they will not judge your taste ^^ The phrasee was used by business owners, because the attitude at the time towards customers was wary, and not accomodating, so they swept the market by being accomodating and servable towards their customers. It's now a burden for the workers of the industry and should definitely be revised, but inventing a new history for the sentence won't change things ^^

5:50 The granny did not literally suggest to lock the child down, it was a reactive statement to throw out there after the mother got defensive. Also, you said "they're in their house" but it was stated at the beginning the kid is heard from outside - So it's a neighborhood and there's rules to follow. You said crying is not a bad thing, but this kid was screaming, not crying. You can hear the kid from the backyard while granny and mom are talking.

Well screaming can equal crying in young kids and often their is not anything you can do depending what their mad/ upset about, yes i understand that it can be annoying but the way the woman talked to the mom about it was unnecessary. And since no one else in the neighborhood said anything before I struggle to believe the crying was a everyday for hours a day occurrence just a guess(but we would need more ingot to be sure) and if it was hours a day thing CPS would be called probably for actual fear of child safety but from the fact it’s one person bringing it up who is not a normal residence I struggle to believe she is not just petty
