In this adventure Luke is in a remote forest to test out some budget friendly gear from NatureHike when an Ice Storm Begins to cover the area.
As the ice forms and begins weighing heavy upon everything, MAJOR problems present themselves with the gear and Luke must make some hard decisions....
After receiving countless messages from viewers about supporting the channel through Amazon, I have begun using Amazon Affiliate links in the Adventure Videos and if you choose to purchase one of these products via these links I will receive a small commission which will help fund future honest reviews and adventures.
The channel remains as it always was, 100% Agenda Free with no sponsored videos, no paid reviews, and I don't care if you purchase these products or not; you won't find affiliate links in review videos only in adventures.
I'm going to do my best to put gear lists into all of my videos since everyone is asking for them all the time.

The thing I love about my Tundra, I know when I turn that key it’s gonna start and all systems will work. I’ve been a Toyota guy since 1987 and never regretted it. Good choice, Man!!! I've been in the storm camping senario & I've had wet bedrooms in the tent & sleepness nights, with drowsy mornings or even had to run out and spend the night in the car watching the tent take water like a thirsty dog & had to down wet in dreadful wet weather. So I know that miserable feeling oh too well, & watching from warm bed as someone else deals with all that cold and discomfort is so comforting.

I thought the same thing that Bigfoot scared them off. There were some quality items left like the small hatchet and the black rope seemed to be of mountaineering quality.

Luke I spent 33 years working for the Missouri Dept of Conservation. As you can imagine almost all my work was outdoors so the daily weather forecast was important stuff, not to mention my hobbies of hunting, fishing, camping, ATV riding etc. Basically my life is the outdoors. Could’t tell you how many times you’d make plans based on the forecast only to wake up in the morning with a totally different forecast. Adapt and overcome. Love your channel, long term subscriber. Keep up the great vids. Strength and honor to you my friend.

Every time Luke sits by the fire and talks to the camera I have a habit of looking over his shoulders to see if there’s an animal or another human being creeping up behind him.

“It’s been raining quite a bit out here” then you notice the light pond his tent was on. Also I love your attitude towards weather, I’m the same way. It’s the experience, both from the situation and your own past experience. I do camping/bushcraft stuff all the time when it rains or snows just to improve my techniques.

Maybe. But, to answer Stephanie's question; I watch a video without signing in to Google, until I get the urge to make a comment, how I seem to comment too early in a video, ahead of Luke's lead talking about his new camera.

Such a mess they left... And looks like they spent money on stuff they just abandoned.. you probably couldn't show it on the screen but I hope you got the cordage and anything else you could utilise.. Great video again.. Luke Vs weather...

I doubt Luke would take their stuff, abandoned or not. He has quality gear and it could be argued that he'd be stealing (despite the very real appearance of abandonment). He's the type of guy that'd consolidate the trash for collection later.

Come on man, you could have done an hours clean up at that site and that would have made some difference. No excuses for the people who left that site like that, but you had the means to tidy the place up and at least have centralised the garbage. Payback would have been new ownership of the abandoned axe, which could have come in handy for additional protection and the ropes and lines for sure could have been utilised. Expected better from you. Don’t just test the equipment, test yourself too!
@akkiko
@akkiko 2 роки тому
I feel like centralizing it wouldn't do much as he obviously couldn't afford to carry more on such a long hike and eventually the weather would scatter it every which way again.
@josephmaxwell5033
@josephmaxwell5033 2 роки тому
@@akkiko : Sorry, but that’s just a justification for doing nothing. The written and the unwritten rule in the wildness or on the hill, don’t litter; then it is clean up if you can and assist by removal if possible, especially plastics. The amount of equipment as well as trash at this site, could never be justified in just doing nothing!

Steady on, there, Joe, you clearly haven't watched the following episode (here: m.ukposts.info/have/v-deo/naiqomdsb4N71mQ.html) where he explicitly talks about how he went back there - when he wasn't on foot & alone, running from dangerous weather - & took everything away.

@@mysterylovescompany2657 : Glad to hear that he went back and did the right thing. Unfortunately, I can only comment on what I have seen and heard. I raised it as an issue because it was the perfect opportunity to highlight what should be done by anyone coming across similar abuse of the countryside.

Cool story about Great Grandpa, and since most of them passed along similar stories, "brutal winters" and people working all year to prepare, plus we kids had similar frozen creek stories: it all adds up to winter being different these days. I bet Grandpa had a big old canvas roll, a wool blanket, and maybe a mule.
