Sophia is a beautiful woman. My Mom is a few years younger. She lived in Germany during the war and describes the same things she lived through at the time.

She reminds me so much of my mom... My mom had beauty, dignity, talent and brains. She was a beautiful Sicilian woman and she so admired Sofia Loren. When I was about 7, someone mistook my mom for Sofia... I yelled, NO, she is my mom! One of many reasons I called my son Carl was also because my mom loved the name Carlo (Ponti, her husband who discovered her). This interview was just splendid in real time and again, now. She still captures the hearts of all who watch her work.

This was an exceptional interview. Sophia was an Oscar winner who deserved respect for "Two Women". I haven't read her book but I'm sure it had left her vulnerable. Johnny sensed that and his demeanor was respectful. I miss this show.

I really really enjoyed this interview. Johnny conducted himself in a way that was honorable and the interview was deep, entertaining, and meaningful....unlike Letterman.

Devastatingly beautiful. The eyes have it. See her in “Desire Under the Elms.” For me, no one has what she shows in this film, as though she’s from another world.🙏🏽❤️ Also, can’t envision any other talk show host interviewing her so smoothly, besides maybe Steve Allen or Jack Paar.

I was lucky enough to grow up with Johnny Carson on late night TV. I hope the younger generations can watch this clip and appreciate how great he was in relating to his guests and audience. It was his greatest gift.

Looking at this interview I think that the most precious and shinning thing was common to both in abundance and it was TIME. Time to think... time to talk... time to breath... time to let the emotions taking place after every phrase. Time to live.

I cannot say I have watched many Sophia Loren films, though I think I will now. But what a stunning woman she is....in looks and personality. They might not have been perfect angels but, actors had class back then.

Sophia speaks wonderful English and from what I understand learned it by listening to recordings of actors such as Alec Guinness. A very beautiful class act and a fine actress as well!

Sophia Loren is the epitome of the word class.

My mother grew up in Trieste, Italy during the war. She had so many stories about the tunnels and many other things, both tragic and wonderful. Her family was "upper middle class" if you will, and the Germans took everything from them. Her father, an Italian citizen of German decent, who was a professional stone cutter and looked like Paul Newman, refused the join the Party and they took him away to a work camp (not a concentration camp) because he refused to join. He actually escaped three or four times and made his way home to a community building they had put the rest of her family in. The Germans would show up within a week or so every time looking for him and take him back to the camp. They saw a lot of atrocities, most too horrific to talk about here. Her entire immediate family survived the war went on to live very productive lives. Unfortunately some close family friends did not..

Johnny sure did his homework for this interview. His professionalism was front and center here, and put the bright light on Sophia Loren.

Very true! In the Italian culture wearing something red seen or unseen or carrying a little salt tied up in red cloth will repel the evil eye. My mother would pin a red "salt bag" to my underclothes before I went to school. That was just one of the many superstitions I was raised with!

Compare her to Jennifer Lawrence or Rihanna, our contemporary “stars”. What class, style, and also real thoughts and emotions, not just loud screaming and crazy laughing.
